05 Passage Airjet

The document summarizes an experiment on the passage of warp and cloth through an air jet loom. It describes the main parts of the loom like the warp beam, whip roller, drop wire, and reed. It explains that the warp passes over the whip roller and through the drop wire, heald eye, and reed into the weaving zone. The newly woven cloth then passes between temples to control width before the emery roller takes it up and it is wound on the cloth roller. The experiment helped understand how air jet looms work and their importance for textile engineering.

Experiment name: Study on passage of warp & cloth through air jet loom.

Objectives:

1. To know about the passage of warp & cloth of air jet loom.
2. To know about the different parts of the machine and also study their functions.
3. To compare the technological concept of this machine to other machines.

Fig.: Passage of warp & cloth through air jet loom.

Main parts:

A = warp beam g = temple

B = whip roller h = spreader bar
C = drop wire with bar I = emery roller
D = heald wire j = flunnel covered roller
E = reed k = guide
F = cloth guide l = cloth roller

Description:

The passage of this machine is quite different to projectile than rapier loom. The warp is
come from the warp beam then it passes over the whip roller. Warp entered into the
weaving zone through drop wire, heald eye & reed. The function of drop wire is to stop the
machine in case of warp breakage. Reed is used to meshes the newly inserted warp to the
fell of the cloth. Then the fabric is passes between the temples. Temple is used to control
the width of the fabric. The fabric then passes through take-up zone. Here spreader bar is
used to maintain the uniform fabric width. Emery roller is used to take-up the fabric from

the weaving zone. Finally the fabric is wound on cloth roller. The fabric passes over the two
flunnel covered roller and then wound on cloth roller.

Conclusion:

By this experiment we know how fabric produce through air jet loom and also know its
different parts. Moreover it is a very helpful and important practical for our textile life.
