This project aims at understanding the awareness level for usage of sustainable construction materials among project managers and construction companies.

Sustainable development: The construction industry is one of the most important


sectors for the human civilization by improving society’s physical
environment. However, construction usually has a significant and irreversible
impact on the environment. Impacts including massive use of natural
resources, pollution of environment, and high energy consumption are among
the whole supply chain from production of construction materials to the end
user. Increasing environmental consciousness and commitment of businesses,
governments, and individuals has inspired the development of procurement
and purchasing policies incorporated with environmental requirements. This
project aims at understanding the awareness level for usage of sustainable
construction materials among project managers and construction companies.
Construction supply chain: Construction industry is highly fragmented and
contains many players like Client, Architect, Structural Designers, Project
Management Consultancy, Main Contractor, Sub-Contractor, Special Agencies
and suppliers. The interdependency is also required in higher degree for
successful project execution. Subcontractor’s management and procurement
plan is the important attributes for a collaborative development which leads to
effective usage of Time, Cost and Resource allocation. The next level of the
project aims at understanding the awareness level of different players in the
construction supply chain. The project aims at understanding the need for
collaborative supply chain and assessing the environmental implication of
construction materials in construction industry

EXPECTED OUT COMES AND CONCLUSION

1. Assess the environmental implication of construction materials in
construction industry
2. Green purchasing strategy to evaluate the situation of green supply
management
Collaborative approach:

1. The attitude towards the suppliers, subcontractor and the all the stake
holders the project
2. The long term relationship and future
3. Suggesting collaborative Model for supply chain in construction industry
