Journal Prompts

Explanation of Journal Prompts: These are to be kept in your notebook, or if you prefer, you
may type them and print them out to bring to class to share. Unless stated otherwise, they should
be 2 complete paragraphs (follow the layout for an effective paragraph- topic sentence,
supporting details, concluding sentence). They are assigned one day and are to be completed for
the next class period.

Journal Prompt #1:


Describe Walter Cunningham and his family.

What is your idea of a hero?

Journal Prompt #3: (Complete a one paragraph entry on each of the following prompts)
Why does Atticus tell Jem and Scout they have to change their snowman?
Explain who Scout’s visitor was during the fire, what ‘gift’ she received, and why Miss
Maudie wished she could’ve been Scout at the time when she was visited.

Journal Prompt #4: (Complete the following prompt as a topic sentence and continue into a
