    Afflictions of the Planets

    based on the 6th Consideration of Bonatus


    These are the Impediments of the Planets, that cause Hinderances,
    delays, and mischiefs in Nativities, Questions and Elections, etc...There are
    some more that seem be necessary to be known, but to avoid tediousness and confusion I
    shall at present omit them.

    A planet receives another planet when it is in one of the aspecting planets essential dignities

    Anima Astrologiae Consideration #61 says it is worse when the planet is moving towards the Head or
    away from the Tail within 12 ; the exact degree being the strongest affect

    Condition Description
    1 Cadent in 3rd, 6th, 9th or 12th house

    2 Retrograde apparent backward motion of planets

    3 Combust within 15 of the O; lower (inferior?) planets, when direct in
    motion, are more debilitated when behind the O; the
    reverse if they are Retrograde, they are more debilitated
    when before the O

    4 - - O - - O - - O - - O or if the aspect occurs without reception ( O or do not
    receive

    5 Besieged by Infortunes separating from O or and joining the other without
    perfect reception by House (Domicile), Exaltation, or two
    of the smaller dignities of Term Triplicity and Face (Decan)

    6 Declension when a planet is joined to (aspecting) another planet
    which is in his place of Detriment or Fall

    7 joined to a Cadent planet, or,
    between two planets, neither
    of which receive him
    when aspecting a cadent planet
    or
    when separating from a planet that does not receive him
    and applying to another that does not receive him

    8 Peregrine or behind or ahead
    of the O OO O
    weakened if the planet is not in any of his own dignities (in
    an alien place)
    or
    if a Superior planet is followed by the Sun
    or
    if an Inferior planet, follows the Sun
