Maastricht School of Management, Maastricht University and Erasmus University Rotterdam joint International Workshop:

Entrepreneurship and Happiness: Exploring the Relationship between Subjective Wellbeing and New Venture Creation
April 12 -13, 2012, Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Entrepreneurs can contribute to economic growth, productivity improvements and competitiveness in national economies. But do they contribute to subjective wellbeing on the country level? In other words, does the happiness of nations depend on its entrepreneurs? And do happy countries produce more satisfied entrepreneurs? This international workshop attempts to provide answers to these and other related questions, such what determines the job satisfaction of entrepreneurs, and how subject are entrepreneurs to mental stress and burnout? How do entrepreneurs cope under uncertainty and how do their coping style and the external environment impact on their subjective wellbeing? The workshop will take the format of 6 -7 invited papers and 3 -4 papers selected from this call. All papers will be considered for a book on entrepreneurship and wellbeing, to be edited by the workshop organizers, and published by Routledge.
