A message from our beloved Zunaira who is in heaven
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say.

But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God
above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just
eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and
night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was
through.
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I
welcome you.
It's good to have you back again, you were missed while
you were gone.
As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal
man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to
do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night the day's chores put to
flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the
night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving
years.
Because you are only human, they are bound to bring
you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry: it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was
some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is
o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills
to climb;
But together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too;
That as you give unto the world, the world will give to
you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in
vain."
And now I am contented....that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody
smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low;
Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street and you've got Me
on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go....from that body to be
free.
Remember you're not going.....you're coming here to
Me.

My Dear Zunnu,
Take it from your mother's soul,

Your death has taken a great toll.
My life now has an empty space.
Whenever I close my eyes, I see your lovely face.
It's been one year since you passed away;

Under this fertile earth doth thou lay.
Your father and I visit your grave almost everyday-
It is so painful for us in every way.
I am your mother after all,
I've seen you speak your first words and crawl.
I have loved you with all my heart since the day you were born,
And to believe you are gone, my heart feels as if it has been torn.
You had a clubbed foot as a baby

And were put through a very agonizing surgery;
Yet, it never brought you down--
You still loved to dance around.
Our family is experiencing great sadness

Why is Allah putting us through this tunnel of darkness?
You were Zareena and Zeenah's best friend and sister;
I still remember seeing you three sit together and whisper (secrets,
of course!)
So many questions arise in my mind:

Why not me? Why you? You were so kind.
This is the way of Allah, Our Only Deity.
He puts those he loves most through adversity.
You had promised to take care of me

Even after you had gotten married.
This promise remains unfulfilled,
Just because of that ominous night, January 14, 2004, on which you
were killed.
When I miss you, I scream your name--

But it just isn't the same.
You do not answer my call.
Overwhelmed with my grief, I want to fall.
I didn't want you to go,

Not yet...not now.
You were too young with too many aspirations in life,
Like becoming a lawyer and a wife.
But, alas! A long life was not in your destiny.

What is life but a bittersweet symphony?
Filled with many happy times and sad times...
Memories that cannot be captured even with my rhymes.
A picture can convey a thousand words, they say.

That is why I look at your picture everyday,
Hoping you will speak to me, Zunaira.
But you don't. And you won't for a long time.
Zareena used to wake up and scream.

That you disappeared in her dreams.
How ironic, I now think to myself:
Her vision would be fulfilled, and she didn't know herself!
And in the malls, I became so terrified

When you would run off and hide.
Why did you vanish into thin air,
Leaving your family behind in utter despair?
We know you are not to blame.

Your death had to come, so it came.
As I sit beside your grave, your final bed,
A dua'a to Allah enters my head.
O Allah! Please give us some peace.

Please let us see Zunnu in the Hereafter, at least.
Zunnu, in my heart you will always remain,
So do not worry...we will surely meet again.

Zunaira Zaheer Khader

Was very special to her mother and father.
She was as pretty as a rose,
From her head to her toes.
Her smile was the showcase of her felicity
And her demeanor was always that of simplicity.
Zunnu was the epitome of graceful youth
Who was Allaha's Mercy, in truth.
Like a precious pearl was Zunnu protected,

And to loved ones she was closely connected.
She was her family's pride
Always present at their side.
Zunnu had a countless number of friends
To whom a helping hand she would always lend.
With great respect would she greet
People, who thought she was a pleasure to meet.
She would have had a wonderful marriage,

Along with a cute baby in a carriage.
Yet a car crash suddenly turned the tide
In which Zunnu tragically died
The date was January Fourteen
A terrible day no one could have foreseen.
Vanished were her dreams
And left for others were endless tears coming down in streams.
This was Allaha's Plan Forethought,

And by an angel, Zunnu's fate had been brought.
The family fortified their Iman
And along with friends, read for Zunnu from the Holy Quran.
Everyone prays to Allah
That she resides in Jannah.
Still can be heard the bird's song

Even after it has been gone for long.
Zunnu has flown up to the sky,
Towards Paradise up high,
And is looking down on us with a grin,
For Allah may pardon her sins.
Of family and friends, Zunnu is a very dear part,

For she has embedded her spirit into their hearts.
Her time allotted on Earth, since the day of her birth,
Was filled with great merriment and mirth.
Now, she has no more worrying, no more strife,
As she embarks upon a new life.
If we could talk to her, we would say,

We hope you are happy in every which way
And wish that you could stay
But we have faith that you are okay. Zunaira the first light of dawn,
Will never from our memories be gone.
