This list has been compiled by Rabbi A Adler BPharm MRPharms, a practising pharmacist, in consultation with the food technologists of the London Beth Din. General points regarding medication for Passover: In general all solid dose tablets and prescribed capsules are in order for Passover use. Wherever possible, tablets or capsules should be used rather than liquid preparations as the flavouring may contain wheat-derived ingredients. It is preferable to use regular tablets rather than gelatine capsules when taking non essential medicines. Many liquid and chewable preparations contain ingredients such as sorbitol and glucose, which may be wheat derived. Inedible creams, ointments and inhalers are all permissible. Those which specify chametz ingredients on the packaging (eg Aveeno cream, based on oats) should be avoided. Medication should not be altered without consulting a doctor.
