Day 1 – Depart the USA Depart New York (JFK) or Atlanta (ATL) for England.

Day 2 – London / Cotswolds: Upon arrival at Heathrow Airport, we proceed to the baggage claim area. After clearing customs, we meet our guide and driver. En route to our hotel, we visit Blenheim Palace, located in Woodstock, Oxfordshire. Blenheim Palace was built for John Churchill, first Duke of Marlborough, as a reward for his victory over Louis XIV’s army at the Battle of Blenheim in 1704. It is also the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, who guided Britain to victory in WWII. Blenheim Palace was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. Afterwards we proceed to the Lygon Arms Hotel Broadway, one of England’s most celebrated 16th century coaching inns, located in the heart of the Cotswolds. The inn claims almost five centuries of history. King Charles first met with his confidants here and Cromwell actually slept at the inn. The luxurious inn is set in the center of the village of Broadway from where we’ll explore the area. After checking into our hotel, we enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. Tonight includes a welcome cocktail party with a variety of English hors d’oeuvres. Day 3 – Cotswolds / Oxford / Stratford / Cotswolds:  After breakfast, we have a full-day tour of Oxford, Stratford, and the Cotswolds. Oxford, “the city of dreaming spires,” boasts one of the world’s oldest universities as well as some of the finest architecture in Europe. The colleges themselves are among the architectural highlights, their ivy clad stone walls protecting lovely chapels, halls and libraries. We’ll enjoy a unique tour through the heart of this ancient university before visiting Christchurch, one of the colleges, for a closer inspection. Our tour allows us to access parts of the college usually not accessible by the public. We’ll also linger by the open fire as our guide shares anecdotes about the filming here of Harry Potter and the remarkable links of Christchurch with the Alice In Wonderland stories. Before visiting Christchurch, you can take tea in the shop where the real life Alice bought her sweets! Look for other surprises during this visit. After departing Oxford, we’ll continue to explore the Cotswolds region. To many visitors, the Cotswolds represent an England that seems most “English,” for it is an area that seems unchanged with the passage of time. Here you’ll find rolling landscapes, ancient stone walls, soaring church steeples and sparkling clear streams, tiny villages and hamlets of clustered limestone houses, tea shops and inns. We’ll enjoy an extensive tour of the Cotswolds before heading to Stratford. Stratford-Upon-Avon is the birthplace of William Shakespeare, the greatest writer in the English language, and home to the theatres of the world-renowned Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford is a charming market town set in the heart of the Cotswolds. The river Avon winds through the town past the beautiful Holy Trinity Church, where Shakespeare lies buried. There are some wonderful half wooden buildings dating back to Shakespeare’s time, including the famous cottage of Anne Hathaway, which we’ll visit in the afternoon. We return to the hotel in the evening. Dinner is included this evening.(Breakfast, Dinner) Day 4 - Cotswolds/London  After breakfast this morning, we depart for London, enjoying another scenic drive through the English countryside. Following our arrival in London, we’ll have a half-day city tour of London sites, including Buckingham Palace and a special visit to the Winston Churchill War Museum. The Winston Churchill War Museum provides the closest possible insight into what life was really like during World War II. The “Britain at War Experience” recreates the London Blitz in all its fury with special effects highlighting the sights and sounds, the artifacts, and even the dust and smoke of an air raid at its height. The experience includes a “lift” to the London Underground air raid shelter where thousands spent sleepless nights, keeping up to date with wartime news in the underground cinema or the BBC radio studio, where Londoners would tune into Rome, Washington, London and Berlin for the latest messages from Churchill, Chamberlain, Roosevelt, Ed Murrow, Hitler and “Lord Haw Haw.” The remainder of the day is at leisure. Dinner is on your own tonight. (Breakfast) Day 5 - London:  After a good night’s rest and a full English breakfast, we head out for a guided half-day walking tour of the British Museum. The museum’s collection of seven million objects represents the immense history of human culture. Its variety reflects the diversity of London’s global population. In no other museum can you see so clearly the history of what it means to be human. Our morning tour will be followed by a free afternoon, when you will have the leisure to stroll the streets of London, ride the London EYE, shop at Harrods, or enjoy an optional tour that can be arranged for you by our guide. There will be a lecture today, with the time to be advised. Dinner is on your own tonight. (Breakfast) Day 6 - London:  After breakfast the day is yours to enjoy independent excursions. Most of London’s museums and art galleries, along with a variety of shops, are open on Sundays. This evening we will have a farewell dinner. (Breakfast, Dinner) Day 7 - London/USA: Depending on your return flight schedule, you can enjoy breakfast and/or leisure time on your last day in London before transferring to the airport for your return flight home.
