Selection Criteria Candidates for the Every Drop Counts Earth Science scholarship must, through a combination of the completed application and the required supporting documentation, demonstrate to the satisfaction of the scholarship committee that they: 1. Are a United States citizen and a Texas resident at the time of application 2. Have a 3.0 or above grade point average (G.P.A.) 3. Are currently pursuing or have plans to pursue higher education in the Earth/Environmental Sciences at an accredited four-year college or university 4. Are not employees or related to employees of Nestle Waters North America or Ozarka Natural Spring Water * Examples of Earth/Environmental Sciences: Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Environmental Law, Environmental Education, Forestry, Oceanography, Ecology Selection Process In order to be considered, scholarship application packets must be postmarked on or before Wednesday, April 3, 2013. The scholarship committee will announce the names of two award recipients on or before July 10, 2013. The decisions of the Scholarship Committee are final. The two winning applicants for the scholarship will receive notification of the Committees decision by U.S. mail and by phone. Candidates who are not selected will receive notification by U.S. mail. Please be sure to include correct contact information in the application. The scholarship committee must be able to reach the winning candidate(s) in order to distribute the scholarship award.
Terms of Award and Distribution of Funds
By signing the Every Drop Counts Earth Science Scholarship application, the two scholarship winners agree to the terms of the award. This agreement includes being enrolled at or accepted to a four-year accredited college or university by the application date. If the winning candidate is a high school senior/incoming college freshman, proof of enrollment must be provided before funds may be disbursed. The Scholarship Committee will pay the scholarship award to the college or university of each winners choice, and will be distributed according to the winning candidate(s) college or university Financial Aid department. This check will be posted by the college or university to the recipients account at the college or university he or she is attending. Scholarship checks will not be given to the recipients. Each scholarship winner will relinquish all unused tuition credits and/or un-disbursed financial assistance related to the scholarship award should recipient fail to meet above stated terms for any reason. Determinations of failure to meet stated terms will be made by the Scholarship Committee or college/university officials. Any unused portion of the scholarship will be returned to the Ozarka Every Drop Counts Earth Science Scholarship Fund. Essay Instructions Each applicant for the Every Drop Counts Earth Science Scholarship is required to submit a typed (double-spaced) one to two page essay about why they are currently pursuing a degree in Earth/Environmental Sciences, detailing courses of study. The essay is to be submitted with the scholarship application form and other required documents. Applications become the property of sponsor and will not be returned.
