PK Hofmann A

Armin Hofmann was a Swiss graphic designer and educator born in 1920. He studied at Kunstgewerbeschule in Zurich and helped establish the Swiss International Style of graphic design, which favored sans-serif typography, asymmetrical layouts, and use of grids. As both a designer and teacher, Hofmann believed in simplification, restraint in use of color and typefaces, and creating expressive designs that introduced a thoughtful visual culture.

Behind the Designs

What few people have realized about Hofmann is that behind the artistic beauty of his design was a strong conviction about cultural, moral and social issues. He has high morals and a strong regard for environmental and social justice. - Friedman, 1994
