The Days of Noah

This document compares the time of Noah to the end times described in Matthew 24. It notes that prior to the rapture, society will continue to decline into greater wickedness and demonic influence, as occurred in Noah's day. Some similarities include an increase in murders, cannibalism, bestiality and homosexuality. False teachers will also fill pulpits to mislead people. Most concerning is that like in Noah's time, many will ignore the signs of God's coming judgment and continue with daily activities until it is too late.

Compare the Days of Noah with Matthew Chapter Twenty Four

In the book of Matthew we are given some insight as to what the final days will be like on the

earth prior to the Second Coming of Christ: “But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the

coming of the Son of man be” (Matthew 24:37, KJV). 1 It is important to note that the “coming

of the Son of man” described in this verse is not dealing with that time prior to the rapture of the

Church, but rather the time known as the Tribulation period described in Revelation immediately

prior to the Second Coming of Christ back to earth. Due to the close proximity of the two, there

will no doubt be many similarities seen leading up to the rapture, but the events of Revelation

will not unwind until God’s bride is removed from the earth.

In Genesis, chapter six, we are given several characteristics of the time of Noah and the

magnitude of evil that existed in his day and that will once again come to fruition during the end

times. One of the first things mentioned is the wickedness within the world. Not only does the

wickedness stem from human vain imaginations, but there was also evil angelic activity as Satan

attempted to contaminate the blood line through having a select group of his fallen angels have

sexual relations with human women to produce “giants” (Genesis 6:4). Could something like

this truly happen again? It is clear through God’s Word that these evil angels were placed into

bondage to be released at an appointed time in the future (Jude 6, Revelation 9). Revelation says

that this time will indeed be during the period described in Matthew 24. Whether or not demonic

procreation is attempted again is uncertain, but these very same wicked angels will be used to

torture men on the earth who do not know Christ as Savior.

Is it possible that such wickedness can exist today? Is the world now in a vain and conceited

state where God is left out and only the lusts of the heart are followed? A quick look at the

Nightly news or a glance at the latest edition of the newspaper indeed supports that possibility.

Just as in Noah’s day, every imagination of the thoughts of man’s heart is “evil continually”
(Genesis 6:5). If something can be thought, it has most likely been done even within our own

lifetime. Grotesque acts of murder, cannibalism, beastiality, and homosexuality are common

occurrences within our society. Transgressions such as homosexuality which would require

death under the Law are even protected under State’s rights in some instances today! As the time

of Matthew 24 approaches, society will no doubt continue to decline as the occurrences increase

motivated by growing demonic influence. The sad truth is that religion will not be exempt from

such evil during this time. With the true Church taken from the scene, the pulpits will be filled

with unregenerate men as people turn from the truth unto fables (2 Timothy 4:4). Who better to

fill the need for these “teachers” than Satan’s own league of deceivers who will appear and claim

to be “ministers of righteousness” (2 Corinthians 11:15) that will forever damn countless souls to

an eternity of torment through false doctrine.

In closing, perhaps the biggest similarity that is seen between Noah’s day and Matthew 24 is

this: the status quo. With an estimated population of one billion during the time of the Flood,

countless weddings, birthday parties, and other celebrations were no doubt occurring at the very

time the first rain drops fell to earth. Scores of people must have passed by Noah and his ark

within those 120 years of construction and ignored the fact that judgment was coming. During

the time leading up to the future horrific events of Revelation, people will repeat the same

mistakes. Shares will continue to be traded, million dollar homes will be built, Hollywood will

continue filming, and the world will choose to be “ignorant” of God’s creation, the flood, a

promised Redeemer, and the Second Coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3).
