STRENGTHS

o o o o o o o o o Industries such as ceramics/pottery, furniture, garments, gifts/house ware/decors and metal craft A first class urban municipality in Bulacan 1 Proximity to Manila with just a few minutes of travel by car The McArthur Highway bisects the municipality of Balagtas as this national road cuts northward to the Ilocos region.1 Schools are within walking distance of a large number of residential areas so walking to school is an option. There are several amenities such as Robinsons Supermarket, Pamilihang Bayan ng Balagtas, churches, schools, and city administration services. The spacious park in front of the town hall has provided a central place for community gatherings. The monument of Francisco Balagtas Baltazar adds to the municipalitys identity. The presence of public services and facilities is an economic strength. Community support for tourism development

WEAKNESSES
o o o o o o Lack of consistent landscaping Lack of pedestrian pathways Lack of appropriate signages upon entering the municipality Lack of adequate sidewalks The assortment of businesses is considered to be unplanned. Inconsistency of appearance, in regards to building design and placement, landscaping, and property maintenance, for example some buildings are located adjacent to the right-of-way while others have setbacks. There are no design standards when it comes to architecture and streetscape. The visual appearance of the infrastructure, particularly the overhead power lines, does not benefit the streetscape along McArthur Highway. The storm water drainages and sewer are sometimes ineffective and have a negative appearance, especially when not maintained.

OPPORTUNITIES
o Construction of North Food Exchange 1 which will be the only agricultural trading facility that offers stall spaces for ownership by farmer producers, cooperative businesses, and small entrepreneurs through an easy-to-pay amortization scheme.2 Opening of Balagtas Tollgate 1 which will connect to the state-built Plaridel Bypass Road, reducing the travel time from Balagtas to Bulihan, Plaridel by 20mins.3 Construction of new Balagtas to Baliwag road connection 1 Integrated transport system, including self-drive, public transport and private operators Innovative retail experiences

o Flood--During the Habagat, it flooded in Balagtas, which is one of the not usually flooded municipalities in Bulacan.
