The S&P/ASX 200 addresses the needs of investment managers who require a portfolio benchmark and index characterized by sufficient size and liquidity. It serves this dual purpose by offering the representation of a broad benchmark index while maintaining the liquidity characteristics of narrower indices. This unique combination makes the S&P/ASX 200 ideal for portfolio management and index replication. The S&P/ASX 200 is maintained by the Index Committee, a team of five including three S&P Dow Jones Indices economists and index analysts and two Australian Securities Exchange representatives. The Index Committee draws on the significant experience in index management of its members at a local and global level.

and regularly traded are eligible for inclusion in any S&P/ASX indices. Continued index membership is not necessarily subject to these guidelines. The Index Committee strives to minimize unnecessary turnover in index membership and each removal is determined on a case-by-case basis.

Index Methodology
The Index Committee follows a set of published guidelines for maintaining the index. Complete details of these guidelines, including the criteria for index additions and removals, policy statements, and research papers are available on the Web site at www.spindices.com. These guidelines provide the transparency required and fairness needed to enable investors to replicate the index and achieve the same performance as the S&P/ASX 200. The Index Committee reviews constituents quarterly to ensure adequate market capitalization and liquidity. Both market capitalization and liquidity are assessed using the previous six months worth of data. Quarterly review changes take effect the third Friday of December, March, June, and September. The weighting of constituents in the S&P/ASX 200 is determined by the floatadjusted market capitalization assigned to each security by the Index Committee. Every index constituents float adjustment is reviewed as part of the September quarterly review.
