As a responsible manufacturer, minimising environmental impact is a critical element of our business ethos and in line with our environmental management system, ISo 14001; we have a clear vision of our objectives and target dates in which to accomplish them. These objectives for continual improvement permeate throughout the whole of polyflors products life cycle. lIFE cyclE ANAlySIS A life cycle analysis is an important way to assess environmental performance from the start to the end of a products useful life. polyflors environmental credentials are extremely positive, which is why 25 of our products achieve the highest A+ rating through BrE Globals environmental life cycle assessment. Globally there are other schemes in place, designed to encourage sustainable development and make it simpler for specifiers to source and choose environmentally compatible materials, these include lEED, BASTA and Ecospecifier, for instance. BrE Global Expona has been individually assessed by BrE Global for its environmental performance over a building life of 60 years and it has been certificated with the following ratings. In Use Expona is environmentally sound and 100% fit for purpose, as it does not compromise on durability, performance and choice. The in-use phase of the resilient flooring life-cycle accounts for at least 80% of its environmental impact, given that it can be in use for 20-25 years. Therefore all of our ranges are designed with low maintenance features, whereby energy intensive cleaning is not required. Expona has a polyurethane surface treatment which provides an excellent foundation for an ongoing cleaning regime, requiring less water, polish, strippers and chemical cleansers. This is environmentally beneficial and leads to maintenance cost savings. Voc emissions on Expona are below the strictly set accepted levels with no negative contribution to indoor air quality, having passed the most stringent, independent Voc emissions tests including AgBB and FloorScore. recycling Expona is 100% recyclable and also contains on average, 15% recycled material. Furthermore, polyflor is one of two founding and funding members of recofloor, the industry vinyl flooring take-back scheme. This closed-loop initiative enables Exponas post consumer waste to be recycled at the end of its life.
