There is great confusion on the Concept of Original Sin. Part of the belief is that Satan tempted Eve and thus Adam and Eve disobeyed God. Satan too disobeyed God FIRST by not prostrating before Adam, thus lost favour with God and Some extracts from the Quran and Bible so Christians and Muslims can see the similarities and how a common understanding can be made possible, and what lessons can be learnt from the stories pertaining to Creation. Creation
I will create a vicegerent on earth*. They said "Wilt thou place therein one who will make mischief therein and shed blood? Whilst we do celebrate Thy praises and glorify Thy holy (name)?" He said: "I know what ye know not."."2:30 *If you look at the world today and from knowledge n history you know the relative position of humans with known creations like animals , plants, other living matter, indeed man has control of the world he lives in.

(Remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "Truly I am going to create man from clay. So when I have fashioned him and breathed into him (his) soul created by Me, then you fall down prostrate to him." So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them: except Iblis, he was proud and was one of the disbelievers. Quran38:71-74 This means Iblis is NOT an Angel, but was in the company of Angels. He sees what was going on, and the feeble and limited capabilities visibly seen of man, further reinforced in his mind based, by the materials used in Man's creation, and forgetting, who is asking for Obedience. Arrogance & Jealousy Are you too proud (to fall prostrate to Adam) or are you one of the high exalted?" (Iblis) said "I am better than he, You created me from smokeless re, and You created him from clay." Quran38:75-76 Imagine no Repentance! (Hallmark of Arrogance.. we all must be careful) GOD said: "0 Iblis, get down from this (Paradise), it is not for you to be arrogant here. Get out, for you are of those humiliated and disgraced."Quran 7:13 (Iblis) said: "Allow me respite till the Day they are raised up (i.e. The Day of Resurrection)."GOD said: "You are of those allowed respite."
Jealousy arouses hatred and prevents Others' Progress So he misled them(Adam n Eve) with deception.Quran7:19 Asking for Forgiveness (Note the humble nature of man) They said: "Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You forgive us not, and bestow not upon us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be of the losers." Allah said: "Get down, one of you an enemy to the other (i.e. Adam, Eve, and Satan, etc.). On earth will be a dwelling-place for you and an enjoyment, for a time." He said: "Therein you shall live, and therein you shall die, and from it you shall be brought out (i.e., resurrected). Quran 7: 19-25 The Attribute of the Lord It can be noted from above verses that God grants your wishes even if you are a Culprit. He is also ever so merciful. You will note from other passages that the Lord is MERCY. Most Merciful, Most Forgiving That no burdened person (with sins) shall bear the burden (sins) of another. And that man can have nothing but what he does (of good and bad). And that his deeds will be seen,
Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense [fair] " (Quran 53:38-41) No person earns any (sin) except against himself (only), and no bearer of burdens shall bear the burden of another (Quran 6:164) Then learnt Adam from his Lord words of inspiration, and his Lord turned towards him; for He is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful (Quran2:37). Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. " Luke " 6:36 For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy, Mercy triumphs over judgment. James 2:13(NKJV) To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him. Daniel 09:
The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin. (Deut. 24:16)

Say: 'O My Servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah. For Allah forgives all sins: for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. Turn you to our Lord in repentance and bow to His Will, before the Penalty comes on you: after that you shall not be helped.'(Quran39: 53-54) And those who, having done something to be ashamed of, or wronged their own souls, earnestly bring Allah to mind, and ask for forgiveness for their sins, - and who can forgive sins except Allah- and are never obstinate in persisting knowingly in (the wrong) they have done. (Quran3:135) But, without doubt, I am (also) He that forgives again and again, to those who repent, believe, and do right, who, - in ne, are ready to receive true guidance.(Quran20:82) Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your transgressions. Mark 11:25-26
1.God is ever so merciful. The sin of Adam n Eve is a lesson for us and to Inherit the Reality of SIN by way of . . . serious education
2.Sin-Humans will commit sin repeatedly, and could be easily deceived by deceit. It is best to repent immediately, ask forgiveness and try to avoid the pitfall. 3.Forigiveness: Realize our own inadequacy ,be humble and readily forgive those who hurt us.Thus expecting forgivenbess in return for the excesses we commit.
4.Arrogance: This arises mainly because we think we are superior to others. And when we see others are doing better than you in some respect; Jealousy creeps in. And if you cannot come to terms of his new found success , you try to manifest your feelings by abusing him among others and eventually plan deceitful ways to bring his downfall.
All Scriptures clearly explain the Lord will not let it happen without you too tasting further humiliation in due course, and a CERTAINTY on Judgment Day.
Finally - If you think back you will realize this is the good lesson we learn. 1. Dont judge others by your standards. 2. Dont believe everything you hear. Although as believers in our respective Faiths in todays Global Village, it is nice if we can go through other Scriptures and when you nd a lesson can be learnt (although in your Religion also it is important) it can bring communities together, In this light we wish to give a lesson from Buddhism. Do not believe in anything (simply) because you have heard it. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. Do not believe in anything because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe anything simply because it is written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. But after observation and analysis when you nd that anything agrees with reason and is conductive to the good and benet of one and all then accept it and live up to it. 5.9 Anguttara Nikaya I, p.188. Further Reading 2 Power of Jinn Angels n Jinn When you reect over the Original Sin Incident and what is recorded in the Quran, one clearly come to understand Angels are only capable of following orders of the Lord. Further although Jinn was in the company of Angels(perhaps because of similar status by virtue of their capabilities, and creation materials) it had a Free Will. Unfortunately when it saw how man was made, and his poor state and apparent capabilities in relation to his own, he Forgot that he was disobeying his Very Creator of unimaginable Capability and Knowledge. There is some thinking that the Jinn might have been made of materials like Gamma Rays which explodes in one tenth of a second and generates the power of over a million stars! Thus under this assumption the power of Jinn would have been Phenomenal! This is further testied in the Quran where King Soloman made use of Jinn to bring the Throne of Sheeba within the Twinkling of the Eye . Refer. (Quran 27: 38 40) Solomon said: O chiefs, who among you can bring me her throne, before they submissively come to me? A leader of the jinn replied: I will bring it to you, before you call this meeting to a halt(within a few hours the distance was hundreds of miles).
And I surely have power over it and am trustworthy. And one who had knowledge of Al-Kitaab said: I can bring it to you before you blink your eye. *Then when he saw it lying beside him, he said: This is my Lord's blessing on me [which he has bestowed on me to test me] to see if am thankful towards him or am ungrateful. Indeed whoever is thankful, is thankful for his own good and whoever is ungrateful, [will himself bear the burden of his ungratefulness]. Indeed my Lord is clear of all need [of man's thankfulness], glorious. *Note how humble king Solomon is? He acknowledges all power is from God, as such all praise is to God and not created beings. Power of Man Tell me the names of these if you are truthful. The Angels said: Glory be to You! We possess no knowledge save what You have taught us. Indeed, You alone are AllK n o w i n g , t h e W i s e . He said: O Adam! Inform them of their names. When he had informed them, Allah said: Did I not tell you that I know what is unseen in the heavens and on Earth, and I know what you reveal and what you hide? [Quran 2: 31-33]
