Dr. Pallam Raju, Honble Union Minister for Human Resource Development, presented the prestigious award on 4th September, 2013 to the FDDI for Skill Development Training of more than 50,000 fresh and unemployed youth in the last 2 years under the Placement Linked Skill Development Programme (PLSDP) Scheme of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India. The award is in recognition of the extraordinary contribution to skills development of the youth of India to meet the requirement of semi-skilled/ skilled workforce in the industries and to improve their employability. He expressed concern that the contributions of MSMEs towards the manufacturing segment is stagnant at 16 per cent of GDP the reason being MSME's finding it difficult to articulate their problems and find solutions. Agreeing with him Mr. Vijay Kalantri, President of the All India Association of Industries spoke of the number of taxes and permissions etc., that the MSMEs were subjected to. Later in a list he gave, it was revealed that there were 60 officers/inspectors authorized to visit factories and offices of companies and as regards taxes, they had to pay around 16 different taxes to the local government, about 20 different taxes to the State government and 28 different taxes to the Central government. He told that 25 per cent of small units surveyed are struggling for survival due to non-availability of easy credit. (Source: The Asian Age)

State government officials who met the company's India head Juvencio Maeztu on September 11, 2013. Maeztu himself was not available for comment. The IKEA team is looking for at least five acre of land at a prime location in the city. They did not seek any incentives over and above those being offered by the State government as part of its policy for mega projects, said a senior bureaucrat who met the team from the Swedish company.
