KING
Christ the King Mission Statement
The People of Christ the King in Lombard are a welcoming, vibrant faith community building the kingdom of God through our many ministries. We celebrate our diversity, seeking to realize the gifts of each member of our parish, as we are all joined together under one faith, in a spiritual journey of evangelization, service to others, and a reverence for all life. In the Eucharist, we find new life, and bring this life to others through stewardship, education, and worship.

I Have a Bean!!!
Thats right--- I Have a Bean is the program that will be presented at the next Council of Catholic Women meeting on Monday, January 20, at 7:00pm in the Parish Life Center. Pete Leonard began this local coffee roasting company which is located in Wheaton. They roast coffee beans which are rated in the top 1% in the world! I Have a Bean also has a great social cause. The company hires people who have felony convictions on their record to help transform the lives of former offenders. Come hear Pete Leonard tell the story of the work and the workers of this company while sampling their delicious coffees. A good way to warm up on a cold winter night!

Foundations of Faith New Evangelization Class Monday, January 6, 2014 7pm in Parish Life Center
As Catholics, we have received a baptismal calling to holiness and to evangelizationthat is, to spreading the Good News of Jesus. Some of us are called to help teach the faith, or to catechize those whove heard and accepted Gospel; but all of us are called to help propose--or re-propose--Christ to those we encounter on a daily basis. This evening is great for parents and catechists. Eileen Maggiore will be presenting this topic as an instructor for the Office of Lay Ministry Formation from the Diocese of Joliet. Please RSVP to Sherry at sherry@ctklombard.org or Eileen at Eileen@ctkombard.org.
Living the Eucharist is a parish renewal program that will be offered to all parishioners this Lent season. Small groups will gather weekly for 6 weeks during the Lenten season. There is something for adults, teens and families. The weekly gathering will be 90 minute session reflecting on the Sunday readings and other topics each week. This is our 3rd year in offering this program. If you have not joined a small Christian community before and would like to join, we welcome you to give it a try. Contact Eileen Maggiore at 630-3966076 or email Eileen@ctklombard.org.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make the St. Nicholas Festival such a success. Those who donated items for the fair are simply too many to mention- thanks to all of you! Thank you to everyone who donated your time, talent and treasure to make this years St. Nicholas Festival absolutely wonderful! The PLC was beautifully decorated; the snow was falling lightly outside. Clare Deardorf was playing Christmas carols on the piano. Parishioners came after Mass and stayed to enjoy socializing. We sold lots of crafts and baked goods! Many of you contributed to the success of this event; we were overwhelmed by your contributions of baked goods, crafts and items for the raffle baskets! Because of your great ideas, generous contributions and shopping at the festival, we made $2957 which will go to some great parish causes.

A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT
Today we remember the three wise men from the East who came to pay homage to the infant Jesus, bringing him rich gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. The gifts we bring our time and service and some share of what we earn for the work we do are equally precious in His sight.
Bequest
Street Address:______________________________
A charitable bequest is one of the easiest ways you can leave a lasting impact on our parish. Benefits of Your Bequest Receive estate tax charitable deduction. Lessen the burden of taxes on your family. Leave a lasting legacy. How Do You Make a Bequest? A bequest is one of the easiest gifts to make. With the help of an advisor, you can include language in your will or trust specifying a gift to be made to family, friends or a charity as part of your estate plan. Your Bequest Options A bequest may be made in several ways: Gift of a percentage of your estate Gift of a specific dollar amount or asset Gift from the balance or residue of your estate Making a Bequest of Your Retirement Assets A retirement asset, such as an IRA account, makes an excellent bequest to us. If the IRA were given to your family, much of the value may be lost through estate and income taxes. By designating a charity as the beneficiary of all or part of your IRA (using a beneficiary designation form provided by your custodian), the full value of the gift is transferred tax-free at your death and your estate receives an estate tax charitable deduction. Please contact the CTK Business office, if you are interested. Fr. Peter
