Stay Connected!
We do a lot of things to connect with families throughout the year. From school-wide and
classroom events during and outside of the school day to maintaining websites and
sending out newsletters, we know that a strong home-school connection is critical to
students academic success. NEW for 2014, we are delving further into the social media
scene! We have had a presence on Facebook for a while, and are now looking to form a
team of FAMILY BLOGGERS. This is something that parents may do themselves and/or
in collaboration with their child(ren). Share events, stories, happenings, or exciting
details about our school with the local and global community! See the attached flyer for
more details.

ALSOyou are cordially invited to follow me on Twitter @VVBobcat! My plan is to
tweet daily as a way to share some of the highlights that take place throughout the
school day.

th
grade parents and students are invited to attend an Open House at
Esperero Canyon Middle School on Thursday, January 23 OR Thursday, February

Important Security
Information

In accordance with our new
security gates and
procedures, we need to ask
that parents who remain on
campus after the 8:00 bell
have a Visitor Badge. The
badges must be obtained
from the office in exchange
for your car keys.

We appreciate your
cooperation in keeping our
students safe!

Thank you, Spanish
Immersion families, for
participating in our mid-
year survey! We had 51
responses, which
represented a 28% return
rate. The Spanish

will be analyzing the results
at an upcoming meeting.

November 1, 2013

To: Parents of CFSD Students

From: Mary Kamerzell, Superintendent of Schools

Subject: Open Enrollment for School Year 2014-2015

Pursuant to A.R.S. 15-816 Catalina Foothills School District will begin its open enrollment
procedures for the 2014-2015 school year effective December 1, 2013. The law requires every
Arizona school district to follow a prescribed procedure and timetable for admitting out-of-
district transfer students and resident transfer students (those who live in the District but are
attending a school outside the attendance area of their residence). All students who currently
attend CFSD schools and reside in other districts, and all CFSD resident students who are
attending a different school than they would based on their residence, are impacted by this law.

We require that all open enrollment students apply for admission each year.
Therefore, if your child is a resident transfer (open enrollment) student and you want him/her to
continue in that capacity, or if your child resides outside of the district and you want him/her to
continue to attend a CFSD school next year, please complete an application form between
December 1, 2013, and February 28, 2014.

Open Enrollment applications and information regarding the application
process are on the district web site, www.cfsd16.org (as of December 1, 2013), or
at the district office Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The district office is located
at:

Catalina Foothills School District
J. W. Murphey Administration Center
2101 E. River Road
Tucson, AZ 85718
(520) 209-7539

Applications will be available as of December 1, 2013, and may be completed on line
(www.cfsd16.org), or submitted in person at the district office. Electronic applications must be
submitted no later than February 28, 2014, and hard copies by 4:00 p.m. February 28, 2014.
Decisions about admission, based on capacity, will be made by April l, 2014. At that time, all
applicants will be notified whether their applications have been accepted, wait listed, or declined.
