A survey was conducted of 318 people about cryptocurrencies. The majority of respondents were from North America (60.38%) and between the ages of 26-35 (37.42%). Most had first heard of Bitcoin between 2011-2012 (53.46%) and own Bitcoin (93.08%), using it primarily as an investment tool (61.01%). Nearly half (48.43%) owned other cryptocurrencies besides Bitcoin, and over half (56.29%) had mined cryptocurrencies themselves. Respondents believed it was very likely (56.92%) or likely (33.65%) that cryptocurrencies would become a commonly accepted online payment method within 5 years, but were less confident about offline acceptance within that timeframe
