Caremark (Slough & South Bucks) Newsletter - January - March 2014
We recently saw the departure of a long standing CSW - Marlene Walton. Marlene joined Caremark in May 2010. Her dedication and commitment to her clients has been outstanding. She became a valuable member of our team and will be greatly missed by her colleagues. We wish her every success for her future!!! We also saw the departure of Debra Turner. Who recently became a grandmother and has left to spent time with her granddaughter.
We are delighted to welcome Jayne, Natalie and Noor to Caremark as new CSWs. Please make them feel welcome!!! We have received some delightful compliments about our new location from our team and and clients would like to thank them for their on-going support and continued hard work.
We are looking into incentives for all our CSWs in recognition of your continued hard work. Carer of the Quarter - will be voted for by colleagues, supervisors and clients. The chosen winner will be selected for his/her positive work ethic etc. The winner will receive a gift of appreciation and accomplishment. Specially designed range of discounted gift vouchers from a wide range of local retailers to spend and treat yourself. Watch this space for more details!! As we continue to grow as a business we are always looking to recruit CSWs. We always encourage existing CSWs to make referrals. If you know anyone who can drive and is interested in making a positive difference in someone life, please ask them to contact us. Once the referred candidate has successfully completed working for the company for a minimum period of 6 months, the referring CSW will receive a special GIFT.
Look after your health - Eat properly and drinking plenty of water Look after yourself emotionally - Caring is hard, you may sometimes feel low and may need to off load on occasions. Speak to other carers, Care Manager, Supervisor. Ask for help! Ask others to help - If you know you are going to have a busy day at work. Ask your family to help! Give them specific things you need doing. They may be pleased to be asked. Make sure you get a break, even for a few hours - This will help you recharge your battery. Use this time for your interests if you can, rather than chores like shopping. Dont feel alone - speak to someone you feel comfortable talking to. Manage stress - as a carer you may find yourself to be in a situation that places you under increased stress. There may be many responsibilities and frustrations for you to cope with and feelings of anger, agitated etc. Stress is an individual thing and may be caused by one or more different factors. No matter how your caring role impacts on your life there is at all times help at hand. Using friends and family to discuss and support. Talking to a colleague or a supervisor. Remember that no one is perfect and let yourself move forward. Smile - It really does change your mood and relieves stress. Change your thoughts from negative to positive - embrace challenges and think there will always be a solution. Exercise at least once a week - Exercise controls weight, combats health conditions and diseases, improves mood and boots energy.
More than half of the elderly living in the UK aged over 75 now live alone and figures are growing year by year. Unlike many young people these days who choose to live alone because of independence, empowerment or financial rewards. For the elderly it can often be a sign of their weakening value to society. For the minority of elderly people who choose to live by themselves, there are reports of acute loneliness. Though, as a society we are aware of the emotional problems of loneliness, there is also the potential of physical damage as well. Many elderly people see their friends or families less than once a month and that lack of social interaction can make old people more vulnerable to depression and may lead to other problems. Asking for help can sometimes be awkward!!! The silver line - is the only free 24 hour helpline which offers support to vulnerable older people. They offer information, friendship, advice, direct callers to many varied groups and services within their community. Silver Line Friends someone to have a chat with! The caller receives a regular weekly friendship call. If you know someone who is feeling lonely and would like a chat on the phone.
