EASY READERS & TEEN READERS 2011

French, German, Italian, Spanish & Russian

Welcome to our 2011 Catalogue of Easy Readers and Teen Readers!

The Easy Readers series has a long and honourable history spanning over 60 years. The brainchild of a small Danish publishing house in the darkest years of the Second World War, the series together with the Teen readers collection now comprise more than 300 titles in six languages. From the beginning it has brought together publishers and editors in different countries in a unique collaboration to make available to language students authentic literature in an approachable, yet unpatronising format. Each language is supervised by a specialist editor, whose brief is to simplify without losing the flavour of the original. The Teen Readers series has been created with the same premise, that of making literature accessible to people of all ages and abilities, but the titles in the collection are instead original stories, written specifically with the teenage reader in mind. The choice of reading, offered by both series, ranges from trusty classics to modern social drama, from comedy to detective stories. Each book contains comprehension questions and suggestions for activities, making them a useful resource in the classroom as well as for independent learners. Footnotes are used where needed and the attractive illustrations and uncramped pages make the challenge of reading in a foreign language so much easier, and the achievement all the more satisfying.
