TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT

POST OP
 Dressing with a compressing dressing
 Ice applied to control edema and bleeding
 Neuro checks
 Active flexion of foot while awake

COMPLICATIONS
 Thromboembolism
 Peroneal nerve palsy
 Infection
 Limited ROM

LATE COMPLICATIONS
o Infection
o Loosening / wear of prosthetic components

DRAINAGE
o 200-400 cc for first 24 hours
o <25 cc by 48 hours

CPM – CONTINOUS PASSIVE MOTION


 Promotes healing by increasing circulation and movement
 10o extension
 5o flexion
o By discharge S/B
o 0o extension
o 9o flexion

Elevate when sitting in chair
