Instructions For M.tech Admission 2012-58-1
Sub: I nstructions for admission to M.Tech. Programme (GATE) through CCMT for the session 2012-13.
The admission for M.Tech. programme (GATE), NIT Rourkela through Common Admission Process
conducted by MNIT, Jaipur (CCMT 2012) will be done during July 06-07, 2012 (Friday & Saturday).
Candidates who are allotted NIT Rourkela are required to report physically and take admission at NIT
Rourkela as per the following schedule:
Time - 08.30 A.M to 12.00 Noon and 2.00 P.M. to 5.00 P.M.
Dates - July 06-07, 2012 (Friday & Saturday)
Venue - Conference Hall, Department of Computer Science & Engineering
For admission, candidates are required to bring the following documents in ORIGINAL with a photocopy
(attestation not necessary) of each:
1. Provisional seat allotment letter in original received from the Reporting Centre.
2. Print out of the latest allotment letter from CCMT website, if any.
3. Pass Certificate of High School Certificate Examination / Equivalent Examination for proof of date of
birth.
4. Pass Certificate of Qualifying Examination.
5. Memorandum of Marks of all Examinations starting from HSC onwards (Candidates whose results
are awaited will be given provisional admission at their own risk and must produce the qualifying
marks by 30

September 2012 failing which their admission will be cancelled and all fees paid will be
forfeited. This time-extension will be given only for submission of qualifying degree marks and
certificates for those cases where final result was not published till the date of admission and not for
any other certificates).
6. Course completion Certificate from the Principal/Registrar of the University /Institute incase result is
awaited in the format given in Annexure I.
7. College Leaving (Transfer)/ Migration Certificate from the Institution last attended.
8. Conduct Certificate from the Institution last attended.
9. Three Passport size coloured photographs.
10. Recent Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe/ Physically Handicapped / OBC certificate (eligibility as
per declaration by GOI) for claiming reservation as per the format given in Annexure II, III and IV.
OBC and PH Certificates should have been issued on or after 1
st
January, 2012.
11. Three Demand Drafts:
a) Admission fee : Draft of Rs. 24,750/- (for SC/ST Rs. 7250/-) in favour of Director, NIT,
Rourkela payable at any bank in Rourkela. This is in addition to the Rs.10000/- already paid to
Chairman, CCMT 2012 during reporting.
b) Mess Advance : Draft of Rs. 17,500/- in favour of Chief Warden of Halls, NIT Rourkela,
payable at any bank in Rourkela.
12. Draft of Rs. 500/- or more in favour of SBI, NIT Campus Branch A/c <your own name>.
(All payment of dues in future will be made by on-line payment. Hence, every student is required to
open a bank account in the SBI, NIT Campus Branch, Rourkela. In order to facilitate the opening of
this account for each fresher, DD of Rs 500/- or more is required to be deposited with the Bank.)
Alternatively, if any student is having an SBI Account in a core banking branch anywhere in India,
s/he can operate from that branch or transfer the account to NIT Rourkela campus branch. In that
case, s/he need not bring this draft of Rs.500/-.
Please note that NIT, Rourkela is a fully residential Institute and permission to stay outside is granted only
in rare cases. Permission from Dean (Academic) needs to be obtained for the purpose of staying outside a
hostel. Dean (Academic) should be convinced about the genuineness of the need as well as about the facility
available for pursuing studies in the alternative accommodation. Permission to stay outside the hostel may
be granted after a student has been admitted to a hall and paid all starting dues. Students permitted to stay
outside will not be allotted a room, nor will they be required to pay mess dues in future. Their mess advance
will be refunded after adjustment of dues if any (e.g. establishment fee, special functions etc.). It may be
noted that such students need to pay hostel seat rent, establishment fee and fees for special functions every
semester till completion of their programme.
Location:
NIT Rourkela is around 8 kms away from the railway station. Applicants may hire an auto and reach the
Institute. Present auto fare is minimum Rs 90/-.
Accommodation:
NIT Rourkela is having Two Guest Houses (South Block and North Block) with limited number of rooms.
Accommodation will be provided as per availability on payment basis. Interested applicants may contact in
the following details for booking accommodation.

Alternatively, general provision has been made in the Hostels (For female candidates: CV Raman Hall and

Information/Guidelines
1. Disability certificate shall be issued by Medical Board of at least three doctors duly constituted by the State or Central
government under PWD Act.(One of the members of the Board should be the specialist in the particular field for
assessing Locomotor, Visual disability, Hearing and Speech disability, Mental disorder and Leprosy cured)
2. If disability is likely to decrease (temporary type) then, the certificate should be valid up to September 15, 2012.
3. For candidature under physically challenged category, candidates only with a minimum of 40% disability is required
subject to the condition that the candidate is capable of carrying out all activities related to theory and practical work as
applicable to various programmes without any special concessions and exemptions.
4. The Medical Officer of NIT Rourkela may assess the Physically Challenged (PH) certificate and the decision of the
Medical Officer is final and binding on the candidate.
