Some of the key takeaways from the document are the early developments of micro-hydro in Indonesia since 1885, the growth of Heksahydro as a business from 1992 onwards, and future outlooks and challenges for micro-hydro development.

Some of the early developments of micro-hydro in Indonesia included over 400 micro-mini hydro units built in tea estates and Java Island between 1885-1925, with equipments imported from Europe. Other early developments included initiatives by individuals and organizations in the 1980s and 1990s.

Heksahydro started in 1995 when the author joined with PT Heksa after his previous job ended. It began from a rented house with basic workshop facilities. The business gradually grew through investments in infrastructure and expanding production capabilities over the years.

FUTURE OUTLOOK
So far since 1992, I can grow and glow from micro hydro
GTZ-gate technology cooperation has given opportunity a marginal engineer
to be a hydro technopreneur
Since 2001 , Indonesian Energy Policy is conducive for micro hydro development
There is no china competitor especially for cross-flow turbine
Foreign market for cross-flow turbine is still prospective especially for micro size
Hydropower engineering is still an emerging market in Indonesia, since just
7.54% are developed (Micro hydro = 28.31%)
More challenges for mini hydro turbine manufacturing, especially from china
Mini hydro turbine manufacturing (francis, kaplan) will not grow in Indonesia,
except there is a special protection or another technical & business-cooperation
Technical & business cooperation: German-Indo (Voith-PT.Indo,
WKV-PT.Indo) to compete with Sinohydro (China manufacturer)
We may learn from Andritz Hydro (Austria-India)
We may survive without hydropower, but
Can we live without water ??
