Willow Beach National Fish Hatchery December 2013

Monthly Report
The hatchery stocked trout on the
Colorado Indian Tribe (CRIT) lands and
Fort Yuma lands. Alchesay NFH
supplied 2,500 eight inch trout for CRIT
and
Mescalero
Tribal
Hatchery
supplied
2,000 nine
inch trout for Yuma.
The hatchery did not stock rainbow trout
this month at the willow Beach sites or
below Davis
Dam. There are
no trout on site
at WBNFH.

Jennifer Fowler
Propst made her annual visit to the
hatchery.
The Bureau
of
Reclamation
tagged
razorbacks
that were to
target size for
stocking. Over 12,000 razorbacks are
ready for stocking in 2014.
The hatchery had 182 visitors sign the
guest registry this month. (15.4.12)
Maintenance Activities for the month
included: Working
on new centralized
blower for the recirculating systems;
cleaning out
sediment and
quagga mussels

from head and tail boxes; installed


current switches for re-circulation pumps
and replaced lock on pump house.
Achii Hanyo Native Fish Rearing
Facility
Harvest of all
production
ponds was
completed the
first two weeks
of December.
A total of 516
BTC >300mm
were tagged and
6,000 BTC ranging from 125-200 mm,
untagged were
transferred to
Lake Mead
State Fish
Hatchery. A
total of 415
RBS >300mm
were tagged
and stocked into Lake Mohave. A total
of 12,038 BTC were restocked into six
of the nine production ponds at Achii
Hanyo for the 2014 production season.
To minimize water allocation overages,
water to the production ponds was
turned off once the ponds were refilled
after stocking.
There were no observed fish mortalities
in the production ponds this month.
A total of 23.0 volunteer hours were
completed this month by Hendrik
Verkade assisting with harvest
preparation and activities, hazing
cormorants and herons, and trash
removal.

Monthly Report
Maintenance activities included:
treating the production ponds with
copper sulfate, traveling to Willow
Beach to pick up feed, repairing nets and
seines, leaf-blowing, installing bird
deterrent strings, hazing cormorants and
herons, changing the oil in the facility
golf cart, having the septic system
flushed by River Septic, and tree
trimming by Willow Beach staff.
