    THE WOODLANDS, TX (March 4, 2015) – The Woodlands Marathon Management, LLC is pleased to congratulate the 96 runners – 52 men and 44 women -- who recorded a time in Saturday’s Fidelity Investments The Woodlands Marathon that qualifies them for entry into the 2016 Boston Marathon. Twelve of this year’s Boston qualifiers also recorded a qualifying time in last year’s The Woodlands Marathon with all but one improving their time on this year’s course. Just 14 runners came from outside of Texas, including the top four men’s and top two women’s finishers. Oklahoma and Illinois were represented by two runners each. More than half of this year’s qualifiers – 55, to be exact -- were running The Woodlands Marathon for the first time. Of the remaining 41 who have run the race before, 20 of them had already recorded a Boston Qualifying time while eight have now BQ’d in The Woodlands three times.

    NEARLY 100 RUNNERS QUALIFY FOR THE


    2016 BOSTON MARATHON
    THE WOODLANDS, TX (March 4, 2015) The Woodlands Marathon
    Management, LLC is pleased to congratulate the 96 runners 52 men and 44 women -who recorded a time in Saturdays Fidelity Investments The Woodlands Marathon that
    qualifies them for entry into the 2016 Boston Marathon.
    Twelve of this years Boston qualifiers also recorded a qualifying time in last
    years The Woodlands Marathon with all but one improving their time on this years
    course.
    Just 14 runners came from outside of Texas, including the top four mens and
    top two womens finishers. Oklahoma and Illinois were represented by two runners
    each.
    More than half of this years qualifiers 55, to be exact -- were running The
    Woodlands Marathon for the first time.
    Of the remaining 41 who have run the race before, 20 of them had already
    recorded a Boston Qualifying time while eight have now BQd in The Woodlands three
    times.
    Houstons Doan Pham, 42, is the only runner to have run a Boston qualifying
    time all four years of the events return to Montgomery County.
    The 21 who had not qualified before 13 did it on their second try while
    another six were making their third attempt.
    The Woodlands Drew George, who won the Masters division of the Galveston
    Marathon a year ago in 3:03:55, and Jim Harrington, a nine-time Ironman finisher,
    qualified for the first time in four years.
    All but 11 runners qualified based on the standard in the age group as if they
    were running this years Boston Marathon.
    The remaining runners age on the day that the 2016 Boston Marathon is held
    allowed for their time on Saturday to be considered against the standards of another
    age group.
    Aside from the increase of 25 Boston qualifiers from a year ago, this years
    percentage of female qualifiers (54.1%) narrowly eclipses that of two years ago when
    54 women of 115 runners qualified for the 2014 Boston Marathon.
    Seabrooks Chris Robbins and League Citys Kerry Lee as well as The
    Woodlands John Maloney all have multiple Boston qualifiers at The Woodlands
    indicated in the list below as a result of their roles as the 3-hour and 3:30 pacers,
    respectively.

    Additionally, 306 of this years 895 finishers may be able to use their time to
    earn a guaranteed time qualifier during the May registration window for next
    Januarys 2016 Chevron Houston Marathon.
