1. The story begins somewhere in Mississippi while the Logan
children are walking to school on the first day on 1933. 2. They could not believe it, they kept asking questions because they did not know the Berrys. 3. At first they were excited, later they were disappointed. 4. Cassie is the only girl of the Logan children, very outspoken, intelligent. She does not like school. I think she doesnt like school because of the way black children are treated. 5. Little Man is the youngest of the Logan children. He is very neat. His first reaction to the book was to give it back because it was dirty. When the teacher made him take it and he sees what is written inside he gets upset and throws it on the floor and stomps on it. Inside the book was an offensive word for black people. 6. Mrs. Logan tells Miss Crocker to punish the children for disobeying her. She was a very strict person. She decides to cover the offensive words on the book of her children and on her students books too. She doesnt want the children to feel bad. 7. Jeremy was a white boy who liked the Logan children and was often beaten by his father for walking with them to school. Chapter 2 1. Mr. Morrison was a very tall and strong man. He seems like an honest man because he tells the Logans why he was fired from his job. He was fired from his job for fighting with white men. Mr. Logan hired him because he knew he was a good man and he wanted him to protect his family. 2. The white mob said that the Berrys were getting out of line. The real reason was that they were racists. The sheriff calls the
woman who told him about the attack she was a liar and sent her home. This means he is also a racist and he is not a good sheriff. 3. Mr. Logan tells the kids never to go to the Wallaces store.
