Newman now has a new sporting facility for children and the wider community that provides opportunities
for participation, spectating and/or volunteering. Racers also have the chance to represent Newman in
nationwide races and the club will provide programs for disadvantaged children to ensure everyone in the
community can participate in the exciting events.
President of the BMX Club Dean Atkins is excited about the re-opening which brings back memories for
him and many other long term residents who used to race at the track when they were young.
Im pleased as a community that weve been able to re-establish the club and I appreciate immensely the
support from local business, community volunteers and BHP Billiton Iron Ore, he said.
