General Information
IndraWorks is the carrier system for integration of the Bosch Rexroth engineering tools.
Cross-sectional functions, such as project navigation and project administration
as well as the generation of project and configuration data, are executed in a
centralized manner.
Basically, there are two types of integration:
When full integration is used, all operator actions are performed in the
main window of IndraWorks.
Examples include parameterization of units in an IndraWorks project or
configuration of HMI control elements for visualization panels.

General Information
IndraWorks provides various options and tools supporting you with the management of the windows opened in the document window area.
There are two window types in IndraWorks: document windows and tool windows.
Document Windows
IndraWorks supports two types of displaying document windows: sub windows
(MDI - Multiple Documents Interface) and tabs.
In the sub window mode, all document windows are arranged in the document
window area. Several windows can be represented at the same time (e. g.
overlapping windows).
In the tab mode, only one document window is displayed. It occupies the entire
document window area. The other open document windows are represented
as tabs at the upper edge of the document window area. To show such a window, just click on it.
To move back and forth between the two modes, select Windows Windows
as Tabs.
Windows in the Document Window
Area
Double-click on an object in the project explorer to open a window in the document window area where you can edit the data or properties of that particular
object. Depending on the object type, the window is a dialog box or an editor.
All open document windows are listed in the Window menu. To put a window
to the foreground, select the appropriate menu item or click on a visible part of
the window in the document window area.
4/160
Basics
Select the Windows Windows menu item to open the Window List where
you can manage the windows opened in the document window area.
Fig.1-3:
Tool Windows
Tool windows are listed in the View Other Windows menu item. To change
the behavior of the tool windows, either use the system menu (by right-clicking
on the title bar of the tool window) or the Window menu.
Dockable
Tool windows are dockable by default. A tool window is opened either in the
floating mode or it is docked to the edge of the document window area. To dock
a floating tool window to the edge of the document window area, just deselect
the dockable property. This window will also be arranged as an additional tab
in the document window area. If you reselect the dockable property, the window will return to the position it had taken before you arranged it in the document
window area.
Hide
This command hides the active window. You can show the window again using
the View menu.
Floating
This command changes the window from the floating mode to the docked mode
and vice versa.
Auto Hide
This setting hides the tool window at the edge of the borders such that it is only
indicated by a tab displaying the window title. To fully maximize the window
again, just move the mouse pointer over the tab. In this manner, the document
window area can be enlarged.
In the MDI mode, the windows in the document window area can be arranged
in the overlapping, cascading and tiled modes. To achieve this, select the appropriate command from the Window menu.
In the tap mode, document windows can be grouped. To achieve this, use the
commands of the system menu of the document windows. You can arrange
document windows in vertical and horizontal groups and easily move them from
one group to the other.
In the tab mode, you can drag-and-drop document windows within
the document window area.
Using the system menu of the document windows in the MDI mode, you can
minimize, restore, close and move these windows as well as zoom them in and
out. Using the system menu in the tab mode, you can create new horizontal

a device has been found. This button stops the scan process; the found devices
are applied to the project. Any values you entered on the wizard pages up to
that point will be saved for future scanning.
You can exit the wizard at any time with Cancel. Changed values will not be
saved, and the scan process is canceled.
Operation
Select Devices
First select the device types you wish to scan for. Select the appropriate entries
from the Installed list and apply them with the right arrow, by double-clicking
or by drag-and-drop. The devices selected can be deselected with the left arrow, by double-clicking or by drag-and-drop. The scan order can be changed
by the up and down arrows.

Click the Next>> button to move to the next dialog. This dialog depends on
the interface used to scan for the device. The interface (serial, Ethernet, PCI,
Profibus) is specified with the device type.
Settings for the Serial Interface
If you have selected a device type allowing the scanning via a serial interface,
the following dialog box will be displayed.

Fig.2-46:
To define the COM ports to be used for scanning for a device, apply the appropriate entries of the Available list with the right arrow, by double-clicking
or by drag-and-drop. Any selected COM ports can also be deselected. The scan
order can be changed by the up and down arrows.
In addition, the parity and the baudrate must be selected for the scanning. You
can set the device to a defined baudrate. To achieve this, check the Adjust
baudrate check box. In this case, only one baudrate can be selected.
If you adjust the baudrate, existing configurations might be
changed. As a result, devices that have already been configured
might not be functioning properly any longer after the scan process.
Click Advanced to open a dialog box where you can enter the timeout for
the device type used by the scanner.
The scanner attempts to establish a communication connection to
the devices to be scanned. This timeout is the time interval available
to the connected devices for responding to a request of the scanner,
thus identifying themselves. The scan process is decelerated by a
high timeout value and accelerated by a low timeout value. If the
timeout is too low, the scanner might fail to detect all devices.
We recommend to use the default timeout value.
45/160
If you have selected a device type allowing the scanning via an Ethernet interface, the following dialog box will be displayed.
Fig.2-47:
You must enter at least one IP address and one IP port. But you can also enter
ranges. In this case, the IP addresses may only differ from each other in the
final numerical range. Moreover, the input boxes for the IP addresses contain
a drop-down list box with the recent ten valid IP addresses. Open this list box
by pressing <F4> or clicking on the down arrow and select an IP address.
If you enter invalid characters and special characters, a red circle with a white
exclamation mark will be displayed when you exit the input box. The tool tip for
this icon displays the cause of this message.
Click Advanced to open a dialog box where you can enter the timeout for
the device type.

timeout is too low, the scanner might fail to detect all devices.
46/160
If you have selected a device allowing the scanning via a PCI interface, you do
not have to enter any further data. The next setting dialog box or the scan dialog
box will be opened directly.
If you have selected a device allowing the scanning via a Profibus interface, the
following dialog box will be displayed.
Fig.2-48:

What Happens?
Four Switching Steps
Once you switch a project to the online mode, IndraWorks performs the following steps:
In the first step, IndraWorks attempts to establish a communication connection to all devices in the project (communication adjustment).
49/160
In the final step, IndraWorks compares the data of each device in the
project with the appropriate data in the destination device (data
adjustment).
A device will not be switched to the online mode before all the above steps have
been completed successfully.
The sections below will provide a detailed description of these steps.
How to Proceed
Switch a project to the online mode by selecting Project Online.
Fig.2-52:
Communication Adjustment
Checking the Communication Connection
In the first step, the communication connection to the devices of the project is
verified. If IndraWorks can communicate with all devices, the structure adjustment is automatically carried out in the next step. Otherwise, you can

The scanner is used for searching a device (see chapter 2.2.7 "Scan for Devices" on page 42 )
If the scanning is successful, the communication settings of the device are applied. If the scanning is not successful, switching the device to the online mode
is stopped.
Structure Adjustment
In the structure adjustment step, IndraWorks checks whether the projected device structure is equal to the existing structure. For example, the device peripherals for a control are checked as follows:

Once you have eliminated the problem, you can restart the switching steps. If
IndraWorks does not detect any differences in the structures any longer, the
configuration adjustment is carried out as the next step.
Configuration Adjustment
The configuration of the various devices must be adjusted (e. g. the projected
drive number may be different from the actually set number of a drive in a Sercos ring).

Editing in an additional language is only suitable for correcting a text
or for making minor changes to a project.
For actual project planning, we explicitly recommend that you work
in the master language only and do not add new languages and
translate user texts until the project has been completed technically.
If you wish to expand or revise a project, we also recommend that
you first proceed in the master language and translate the new user
texts only thereafter.

Normal Mode
The basic setting provides the user management in the normal mode. This
provides the most common configuration of the user management, which contains a part of the functions of the expert mode.
In the normal mode, operation is restricted to the management of users, rolebased user groups and organizational units (grouping) as well as to the configuration of some global settings (e. g. password guidelines).
You can also change to the expert mode.
Expert Mode
The export mode provides further functions. In this mode, the user management
contains, for example, a connectable address management which can be used
to map organizational forms and save personal data of the users.
In the expert mode, the user management data is displayed in a tree structure.
You can configure this structure by hiding unnecessary branches of the tree or
the appropriate portions of the configuration interfaces.
2.8.2
General Information
The user management data is saved as a part of the IndraWorks project and is
valid in this project only. Inter-project authorizations cannot be assigned.
The user management is always operated in the account sharing mode. That
means that any login and logout of a user in one application affects all other
applications, and a new started application applies the user authorization of
existing applications.

Logic Analyzer
In the dialog Configure Signals you can select bit signals for the measurement,
provided that the connected device supports these signals. In this case, you
can select single bits in the extended dialog box. Their signal courses are automatically arranged one above the other as is the case with a logic analyzer.
Example
Select the signal Class 3 diagnostics which comprises 16 bits. The following
extended dialog box will appear:
132/160
Fig.3-51:
On each bit selection, the free and the used bits are counted. Select the bits for
display.
The maximum number of selectable bits refers to all selected bit
signals. The total number of bits that can be selected is 32.
Example IndraDrive
Select a signal trigger with the signal S-0-0040 Velocity feedback value, with
falling edge and trigger value of 200 rpm.
Select a memory depth of 100 measurement values within a time period of 0,5
ms.
Here you can see the measurement result, with the bit signals not divided yet:
133/160
Fig.3-52:
Fig.3-53:
The figure below shows the result of the bit computation. The original signal
(here S-0-0013) will be hidden automatically by the bit computation, only the
courses of its selected bits will be shown.
For a better display the other measured signals (S-0-0036, S-0-0040 and P-00043) have been hidden manually in the following figure.
134/160
Fig.3-54:
As you can see, the rising edge of the lowest signal is not an exactly vertical
line. This is due to the fact that the values are linear interpolated and represented as curve trace. This is reasonable for analog signals, but not for bit
signals.

Computations
3.8.1
General Information
Measured signals can be mathematically combined, in order to obtain further
results. Select the desired computation and then the signals to be combined.
The computed signals will be shown in the signal overview and in the graphic.
If a measurement is started again, the computations will be repeated automatically.
Start the measurement when a computation has been configured.
Then you will obtain the signal data as well as the computation data
and you can save them together. The configuration of the computation will be saved, too.
3.8.2
This example with IndraDrive shows, how to compute the velocity using the
position feedback value.
The following settings have been specified:
136/160
Fig.3-58:
You can change the settings only in the de-activated state. They
will be sent to the drive immediately after the generator, e.g. the
square wave signal generator, has been activated .
After the measurement you can see the following curves:

Fig.3-62:
The result of the computation, 8.66667 rounds per second, is shown in the
signal overview, in the column Y at Cursor.
For a better clearness the other signals have been hidden.
Amend Computation
The unit rounds per minute would be more suitable in order to compare the
calculated feedback value to the velocity feedback value. Therefore open the
dialog "Edit Calculation" via <Strg> and click on CD. Here you can edit the
settings of the calculation.
The calculated signal must be active.
140/160
Fig.3-63:
Change settings
Select d/dt (1/min) as function 1 and repeat the computation via OK.
141/160
Fig.3-64:
Confirmation
You can also obtain the velocity feedback value from the position feedback
value using the two line cursors:
142/160
Fig.3-65:
The curve of position feedback 1 value has an intersection with each cursor.
Place the two cursors, so that the y-values of these intersections differ by 360,
here 1600 and 1960. Now the x-values of the two cursors differ by 120 ms,
here 116 ms and 236 ms.
Thus the velocity feedback value is 1 round in 120 ms, i.e., it is 8.333 rps or
500 rpm.
This is consistent with the computed signal value.
Pre-defined Functions
In the dialog Configure Computation you can select two pre-defined functions:
Fig.3-66:
Selection function 1
143/160
Fig.3-67:
Selection function 2
Thus you can, e.g. calculate the 2nd derivation in order to obtain the acceleration
value from the position feedback value.
3.8.3
Summation
Example: Add two Signals
Start the dialog "Configure Computations" via CD. The general calculation
formula is preselected. To add two signals select the desired computation
Addition. The parameters s1 and s2 represent the two signals.
Fig.3-68:
In this example the parameter S-0-0040 has been selected twice for the addition. Constant c1 = c2 = 1.
Start the computation via OK , the result will be applied to the graph and to
the signal overview.

Summary of the Results
1.
Place cursor 1 at that position, where the value falls below the 3db limit
for the first time.
2.
Read the frequency response at that position (here approx. -160) and
calculate the difference between this value and -180. The difference
should be as large as possible (here approx. 20).
3.
Place cursor 2 at that position, where the 3db limit is exceeded for the last
time.
4.
Read the frequency response at that position, too, and calculate the difference between this value and -180. The difference should be as large
as possible (here approx. 15; without illustration).
The larger the difference between the frequency response values and -180,
the less the system tends to natural frequencies. An optimum has to be found
here.

Loading a measurement means to read a measurement into the oscilloscope.
The measurement consists of the measurement configuration, possibly existing
computation configurations, and the signal data. The signal data will be shown
in the graphical display. The configuration data will be stored internally. They
can be changed and send to the device via the according configuration dialogs
(for signals, measurement, trigger and computations).
