If you know someone who is in need of prayer but whose name is not listed, it may be that they
have asked not to be included in the printed bulletin. Please remember them in your personal
prayers.
Flowers on the altar this weekend are sponsored by Marcy Schellenberg in loving memory
of Dallas; and by Diane Sobotka in appreciation of our Sunday School teachers who lead
and direct our youth and for the youth who continue to attend Sunday School and
confirmation. An additional arrangement has been sponsored by Ken & Paula Rasmussen
in loving memory of Veona Rasmussen.
Everyone is invited to Fellowship Hour for coffee and rolls between
services each Sunday in the Fellowship Hall.
PLEASE CONTACT THE CHURCH OFFICE if you or someone you know is hospitalized and
would enjoy a visit. Our church staff and hospital visiting volunteers would be happy to
greet, see, and pray with you.
Call Committee Report: We are now studying candidate profiles which have been
provided by the Synod office. As we work to call a new pastor to St. Johns, may we be
strengthened for this task with the thought that God provides for every need of our church.
We ask for your prayers during this process, trusting the Holy Spirit to guide us.

THE FIRST 150 YEARS
BENEFACTION BOARD
HIGHLIGHTS August 13, 2015
The St. Johns Benefaction Board
approved three requests at their quarterly
meeting on August 13th.
The Zone Afterschool Program was
granted $4,000 for their continuing
operation in the new school year. The Zone
targets and serves 7th-12th graders with a
safe environment that strengthens social
skills and character.
The board also gave $3,500 to Mercy
Meals which will cover the cost of material
St. Johns volunteers will pack in October
plus some additional to help defray the cost
of needing to rent the DeVent Center for
packing. The college gym was not available
this year.
Finally, the Benefaction Board approved
$8,500 for Aline Skogstoes Young Adult in
Global Mission to Winchester, England.
$5,500 matches money the congregation
raised from the general fund benevolence
commitment, accumulated Green Fiber
funds, and member contributions. The
remaining three thousand dollars matches
money that Aline raised for her personal
expenses during her year of service.
The next meeting of the Benefaction
Board is November 12, 2015. Requests for
funds should be submitted three weeks
before the meeting and must be signed by
the principal contact and a sponsoring St.
Johns member.
