Course Learning Objectives:
This course is designed to instruct IR employees and introduce basic geometric dimensioning and
tolerance principles. Topics include symbols, annotation, theory, and applications. Upon completion,
students should be able to interpret and apply basic geometric dimensioning and tolerance principles to
drawings.

Course Description:
This class is part of the Advanced Manufacturing Academy Awarding Credit for Continuing Education
at Ingersoll Rand. The program is designed to build important workplace competencies while also
providing an opportunity for Ingersoll-Rand employees to earn curriculum credit. The course
instruction is designed to fulfill the requirements of an equivalent curriculum course and position
students to pursue credit-by-examination at the completion of the course.
Upon completion of this course, students will have an understanding of the symbols on existing
drawings to calculating the tolerances for proper size and location of features. GD&T concepts are
introduced in a methodical manner to help ensure a full understanding of basic concepts.

Proficient in basic arithmetic, reading and writing in English, and knowledge of the general
operating practices and procedures.

Evaluation Methodology
Students will be evaluated on their performance in class based upon clear evidence of
application in class and minimum attendance policies.

Grading & Minimum Passing Criteria


Because of the design of this class to position the participants to earn curriculum credit,
students will be evaluated based on demonstrated competency, including successful completion
of Moodle (online) modules. Students must attend 90% of the class hours to successfully
complete the course.

For successful completion of the course, students must attend 90% of the class hours. For this
course, hours missed will need to be completed.

15.

Academic Integrity Policy


Students are expected to conduct themselves according to generally accepted standards of
scholarship and conduct. Students are prohibited from engaging in any academic dishonesty or
conduct that materially and adversely affects the educational process. Information on the
Colleges Students Rights and Responsibilities, Academic, Dishonesty policy, and Code of
Conduct can be found in the DCCC Student Handbook and Calendar available on the
Colleges website (www.davidsonccc.edu) or from the office of the Dean, Student Services and
Enrollment Management, Brooks Student Center, or the Coordinator, Student Services, on the
Davie Campus.

17. Computer Usage Policy


Responsible ethical behavior is expected of persons using computing resources. Students are
expected to adhere to guidelines published in the DCCC General Catalog under the heading
Guidelines for the Use of Computing Resources and on Computer use policies posted in each
computer area. The Colleges General Catalog is available on the College website.
18.Classroom Policies
1. Classrooms should be free of all unnecessary distractions from the task of learning. Therefore,
as a general rule, students should silence all personal electronic devices not being used for
coursework prior to entering the classroom. Instructional management is a right and a
responsibility of the instructor; therefore, policy regarding the use of electronic devices in the
classroom may vary depending upon the nature of the course or the guidelines of the
instructor.
2. Smoking/Eating Policy
Smoking (and use of other tobacco products) is not permitted in any building on the Davidson
and Davie Campuses, in College classes held off campus, or in College-owned vehicles.
Eating and drinking generally are not permitted in classrooms, laboratories, shops, the
Learning Resources Centers, the Bookstore, the Mendenhall Building, the second floor of the
Student Center, and other designated areas.

19. Inclement Weather Closing of School
In case of inclement weather, the President or his or her authorized representative may close
the school or begin classes at a later hour. Information on school closing or delayed starting
times will be announced on the College website, www.davidsonccc.edu, by message on the
campus switchboard (336.249.8186), and on the following television and radio stations:
