4g Frequency Bands

4g Frequency Bands
3) Interference between towers. If two or more towers use the same band there would be
interference. So by having multiple bands assigned, an operator can spread out the towers
and the frequencies used to minimise .interference. Furthermore with careful frequency
planning you can increase the number of customers who can use your service at the same
location.
Technically yes, it is possible top use a single band. And if left to the service providers they
would always prefer as low a frequency as possible (e.g. 450 MHz) since the propagation is
much better.
That said there are two limitations:
1. These are licensed spectrums, so service providers don't always have a choice since they
need to purchase a license from a government to be able to use a specific spectrum.
2. Radio frequency bands are still finite in capacity, so even though there has been a great
increase in capacity, i.e. bandwidth) from the days of analog (1G) to LTE (4G) it still is a
shared resource. Yes you can design more optimal overlay architectures with
macro/micro/nano/pico cells, etc. but I think you get the point.
