THE NATURE OF MAN

The bible teaches that God is a spirit (John 4:24) and he made man in his image and
likeness. Therefore Man is a Spirit; He has a Soul, and Lives in a Body. Saved not
saved man is a spirit. The real person is the spirit of man. 1 Peter 3;4 says But let it be
the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the
ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great
price. So right inside the physical body that you see is the real you. Jesus told the
story of Lazarus in Luke 16( Read Luke 16) showing us that even though the bodies of
Lazarus and the rich men were buried on earth, their spirits continued to live in some
other places. The two men still had the consciousness, reasoning and intellect (soul)
they had when they were still in their physical bodies, they could remember their
brothers on earth, they could still talk and could even feel but they could not contact
the earth. When a man dies he loses ability to function in the earth. That shows us that
the spiritual world has a make up similar to that of the earth or rather the earth
proceeded from the spiritual world. (Hebrews 11:3) 1 Thessalonians 5:23.
The Spirit of Man got saved

3
Therefore, if any man be IN CHRIST, he is an NEW CREATION, old things are
passed away and all things are become new 2 Corinthians 5:17
In this whole book we are sharing about the life of the man IN CHRIST. From the
above scripture we can understand that you have become a NEW CREATION. Man is a
spirit.
The new man in Christ (2 Corinthiansth 5:17) is the man that got saved. His body
remains the same. All the externals remain unchanged, but he is changed, because
HE IS A SPIRIT. The human body that houses a man, is not the person, the real
person is the spirit, thats the one who got saved.
God is a spirit. But he that is joined to the Lord is one Spirit with Him (1 Corth
6:17). That tells us the Ephesians 2:10 says, For we are his workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that
we should walk in them You have been born into A NEW PLACE now that YOU
ARE BORN AGAIN. When you declared JESUS CHRIST, LORD of your life, believing in
your heart that God raised him from the dead, you were automatically translated from
the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of Gods dear son.(Romans 10:9, Colossians
1:13, 1 Peter 2:9)
You are NOW IN THE KINGDOM of light.
After a man has been born, he can only be born again in only one other kingdom for
there are only two kingdoms only, the Kingdom of Light and the Kingdom of darkness.
JESUS said except a man is born again, he can not see the kingdom of God.
John 3:3 When you were born again, you were born into this kingdom which no man
can see except he is born there. People dont have to do anything to earn entrance into
this kingdom; all they have to do is to be born there. Heb 12:22 says, But ye are
come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly
Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly

4
and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge
of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of
the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things
than that of Abel Yes you have come to this place already. You are there in the now.
Ephesians 2:19 says, Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners,
but fellow citizens with the saints The Kingdom of God is come. Whosoever has
found JESUS has found the kingdom of God.

CHRIST A PLACE OF WEALTHY

A place is not only beautiful because of its a name but because of the things that
make up that place. The Psalmist described our place this way, Thou hast caused
men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou
broughtest us out into a wealthy place. Psalm 66:12 Not only are we out of poverty
but we are now in a wealthy place. This is the place to which you have come. Paul said
said he was called to preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of
Christ Ephesians 3:8 God is rich in wisdom, knowledge, understanding, in silver and
Gold and all that is needed for the good life.

CHRIST A PLACE OF HEALTHY AND FORGIVENESS

And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall
be forgiven their iniquity Isaiah 33:24 .This place to which you have been born is
a place of healthy and forgiveness. 1 John 1:5 says, God is light and in him is no
darkness at all. In this place there is no darkness. There is no sin, sickness, death,
poverty and all that is of the devil. Romans 8:1 say, There is therefore now no
condemnation to them who are IN CHRIST JESUS

5
CHRIST A PLACE OF POWER
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe,
according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ,
when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the
heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and
dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in
that which is to come: Ephesians 1:19-21

the cardinal point. He is a NEW CREATION. He is one who never existed or preexisted, altogether a new man, with a new kind of life. This life comes directly from
God. This birth is not exactly a rebirth in the real sense of the word, because to God
this man never had a past, nor existed. He is brand new person with a new life. The
new creation is Gods workmanship created in Christ to do good works- Ephesians
2:10. Again, the new creation is not remade, refurbished. He is not just endowed with
a new character. He is created with the nature of God in his spirit. He hails from God.
The Bible says; for in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision availeth much but a new
creation. Galatians 6:15
Christ is a place of holiness,strength,wisdom, power,;ove,truth
The new creation may look the same outside but the truth is that, he is completely
new inside. That is in his spirit. Therefore, he now lives his life from the inside. He has

6
the divine nature of God in his spirit. He is as holy and righteous as God is. 2 Peter
1:14. This is why the bible says, Now all things are of God 2 Corinthians 5:18
1. Born of God
This new creation in Christ Jesus is born of God. He firstly believes in his heart that
the Lord Jesus was raised from the dead and then confesses what he believes with his
mouth. (Romans 10:9-10). As soon as this is done, he is automatically birthed of God.
The bible says, to all who believe in His Name, God gave right to become His sons. A
son is the child of his father, born of his fathers seed sperm. In John 1:12-13, God
calls the one who believes his son, born of his seed and Gods seed is his WORD. That
is why we cry Abba Father because the very life of god in us makes us his beloved
sons, just as much as Jesus is Romans 8:16-17.
2. Salvation by grace Ephesians 2:2-10
The penalty of sin and its power over us were miraculously destroyed by Christ on the
cross. Through faith in Christ, we stand acquitted or not guilty before God. This is the
grace of God at work.
For by grace you were saved through faith, and not of yourselves, it is the gift
of God at work, lest anyone should boast. Eph 2:8-9
We became Christians through Gods unmerited grace, not as the result, ability,
intelligent choice or act of service on our part. Its therefore evident that no action or
work we did could help us obtain salvation. It was all by Gods grace. Romans 5:17
Those who receive abundance of grace and of the free gift of righteousness will
reign in life, through Jesus. This is Gods word to all Christian; we can reign over all
the vices and evil in this world.
spirit , is the one thats alive with God. Thats the one who got saved.
a. He lives in the Word of God

7
The Christian cannot live on bread alone as Jesus said, but on every of Gods Word
(Matt 4:4). When we are born again, we become spiritual babes. If we are healthy,
we will grow, thats the only way. Every Christians should be desirous of Gods
Word, to grow and be nourished by it. 1 Peter 2:2, Heb 5:14. As we live by the Word
and feed on it, our appetite for it increase, hence our spiritual development is
enhanced. Christians cannot live without the Word.
b. The Fruits of the Recreated Spirit Gal 5:22-23
The spirit (mans spirit) produces these character traits that are Christs nature.
For this fruits to grow in us depend on how much of him we know by feeding in his
word and how much we love him. Jesus Christ is the vine; we are the branches
the fruits bearing parts of the same vine. These fruits are different from the gifts of
the Holy Spirit. These are the characteristics of the new creation man but the gifts
of the Holy Spirit are resident in the Holy Spirit who then gives it to every Christian
as he wills. At every point in time the Christian has the fruits of the spirit because
they are in his nature
3. Renewal of the mind Romans 12:1-3, Eph 4:22-24
Before we become Christian our minds and thoughts were filled with things and
values of the world obviously not of God. Therefore, our minds have to be renewed
and our thought aligned with and consistent with godly living. The mind is the seat
of the will become. Paul said that transformed of our lives comes as we renew our
minds. In other words as we take off the old information we had before we got
saved and put new ones from the word of God, then our lives will be transformed.
a. Sanctifying the thoughts James 1:13-15, Philippians 4:8
James said that a man tempted when he is drawn away of his lust and enticed.
Sanctification means separation. Our thoughts must be sanctified in such a way
that no dirt or filth is found there. The bible says that a man is what he thinks

8
about. God wants our thought to be based on his word. He wants us to think in
excellent things.
b. It is renewed by the living Word of God James 1:13-15, 2 Corthn3:18
Our mind is renewed by the Word of God is the glory of God. As we behold it,
our mind is being renewed and our body is being transformed. The glory of God is
revealed in our lives. James said that our life can only produce the right fruit when
we consistently behold the Word of God. He said that the Word of God is the mirror
with which we see ourselves.
4. Bringing the body under subjection John 4:24, 1 Corth 9:24-27, Col 3:5,
Roms 6:13-15
Paul lets us know that it is our responsibility to keep the body under the ruler
ship of our spirit. The body wants to do what it feels like doing but many times the
feelings in the body may be contrary to the Word of God. At such times we put the
body under subjection to our spirit. In other words we tell it what to do. Paul says
the reason for putting the body under is we do not get disqualified after preaching
to other. It is possible to be disqualified for the prize.

CLASS 1B WEEK 1
1. Born into the family of God Eph 3:15, Col 1:3
Now that you are born again, you are born into the family of God.
Eph 3:15 From whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named
The family of God includes all who believed in Him, in the part, and all who will
in the future. Being the father of every believer, that makes all other Christians,
brethren (brothers and sisters) this is so because we have the same father, God.
You therefore are a part of Gods family.
Col 1; 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness and hath
translated us into the kingdom of his dear son.

10
Before we got born again, we were not in the kingdom of Gods son i.e. His Family,
we were alienated from it. Now as children of God, we have been translated into the
kingdom of his son. By virtue of our salvation, we are born into Gods family.
2. The new creation of God John 1:11-14, Eph 4:6, 1John 5:9-13
The new creation is born of God, through faith on Christ Jesus. The bible says,
as many as receive him, to them he gave power to become his (Gods)
children. A child is the one born of his father, therefore we are born of God, John
1:11-14
John 1:12-14 But as many as receive him, to them he gave power to become
sons of God which were born, not of blood but of God. Not only do we have
God as out father, he is above all, through all, and in us as well. (Eph 4:6). Being
born of God, you have his life, eternal life, our certainty id based on Gods promise
that he has given us eternal life through his son.
1John 5:13 And this is the record that God has given us eternal life and this
life is in his son.
Being born again, we have eternal life His life. This life is not from our earthly
parents, because only God gives this life. It is important for us as children of God
to walk and live like we know our father is God and he truly cares for us.
3. Assurance of Salvation
a. The Word: Romans 10:9-10. 1 john 5:9-10
Sometimes, the devil likes to deceive Gods children by making us feel we are
not saved. Out assurance of salvation is not through our feelings. Salvation is as
close as a mans heart and mouth, so the bible tells us In Romans 10:10 For with
the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession
is made unto salvation. From the Word of God, we know that the witness of

11
God is better. God himself witnesses that our salvation is assured by the belief in
our hearts and the confession that our mouth made.
b. The witness of the Holy Spirit Romans 8:16
We may not always feel as though we belong to God, but the Holy Spirit always
bears witness with our spirit that we are Gods children. He does this through the
inward witness who we are. The Holy Spirit witnesses with our spirit thats alive to
God, saved, born of God. By these two means we are continually assured of the fact
that we are saved despite our feelings. It does not matter what our senses tell us.
The only important testimony in the one God gives concerning us.
4. Dominion in Life
a. Over the a World 1 John 5:4, 1 John4:4
1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world and this is
the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.
We have dominion over the world, and the power thats in it.
1 John 4:4 you are of God little children, and have overcome them, because
greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. The one who is in
us; God is greater than he that is in the world and all of his forces.
b. Over lifes Circumstances Romans 5:17
For if by one mans offence death reigned by one, much more they which
receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in
life by one, Jesus Christ.
We can reign over sins power. Over deaths threats, and over Satans attacks. Eternal
life is ours now. By the power of God that works mightily in us we are able to overcome

12
all the whiles of the devil. We have dominion over all of lifes circumstances,
irrespective of what they are because the greater one live in us.
c. Sin lost its dominion Romans 6:14
For sin shall not have dominion over you, for ye are not of the law, but
under grace.
Sin can longer lord it over the sons of God. Having been saved by grace through
faith in Christ Jesus, sin lost its dominion over us. We no longer are subject to sin,
because God has given is power over it.
5. Handling mistakes 1 John 11:9-10, 1 John 2:1-3
If we confess our sins, God forgives us. He is not counting our mistakes against
us. God sees us as righteous children; always he sees his son Jesus Christ in us
and sees us through his son, even when we make mistakes. If we make a mistake,
all we have to do is to confess to him and he forgives us.
In 1 John 2:1-3 the Bible says If anyone (born again child of God) sins we
have an advocate with the father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
Jesus Christ is our advocate. He has already suffered your penalty in your place.
6. Remission for the unregenerate Acts 2:38, Matt 26:28, Eph 1:17
Jesus Christ when he died on the cross of Calvary died for the whole world both
the regenerated (Christian) and the unregenerate (non Christian), who are yet to be
born again Acts 2:38
Matt 26:18 For this is my blood of the new testament, which in shed for
many for the remission of sins.

13
When a sinner comes to Christ, he does not receive forgiveness of sins. What he
got was a remission of sins. Remission is the actual washing away of sins in such a
way that the sin never existed before. This is why the Bible says that if any man is
in Christ Jesus he is a new creature, old things are passed away and behold all
things are become new. It is wrong therefore for an unbeliever to ask God to forgive
him of his sins. Forgiveness belongs only to those that are in a relationship with
God but remission is for the sinner. Our redemption came through his blood.
Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the
forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.
7. Forgiveness for the Christian 1 John 1:9-10, 1 John 2:1-3
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful to forgive us our sins and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
We have established that remission belongs to the unbeliever while forgiveness
belongs to the Christian. When a Christian does what is wrong, or makes a
mistake, he does not need to confess the Lordship of Jesus Christ any longer. All he
needs to do is to ask God to forgive him the scripture says.
8. Gods reason for salvation Gen 12:2, Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-20, Acts
1:8
a. God wants to bless you and make you great. Gen 12:2
God bless his children, he wants to make them great, in fact, the greatest in the
world. Thats why he made us partakers of his divine nature. His ability at work in
us can only produce great achievements. He is our father. The earth is his and the
fullness thereof (Psalm 24:1). If they are all his and we are his children, therefore
all that belong to him, are ours and he wants to bless us with them.
b. God wants us to preach the gospel to the world Matthew 28: 18-20, Mark
16: 15-20

14
One reason God saved us is so we can be his outstretched hand to the world. He
wants us to show his light to those who are in darkness and make them disciples
of his kingdom. As we grow in our relationship with him, he gives us the ability to
tell everyone that all that believes in him can receive remission of their sins. One of
the reasons for Gods salvation towards us is, so we prolong the days of his son.
Here on earth.

CLASS 2A WEEK 2
The Holy Spirit and You
1. Who is the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is God himself, the third person of the
trinity, the person that created the earth. He is a member of the Godhead Gen 1:26
He is a spirit, cannot be seen with the optical eyes, but He is as real as the
person sitting next to you. (John 14:17). He has a personality, just as every human
being has a personality, He can be grieved Eph 4:30 and can talk Acts 13:2
He is the angel of Gods presence Isaiah 63:9, the person that brings to us on
earth the presence of the almighty God. Jesus is in heaven, but his presence can
be felt here in earth by the presence of the Holy Spirit. God dwells between the
cherubim of glory but his presence can be felt in this world through the Holy
Spirit.
God is too big to dwell in us but He is able to dwell in us by the Holy Spirit. Any
time it was recorded that God appeared to men it is the Holy Ghost that brought to
them Gods presence. He is one of the same kind with Jesus, John 14:16-20. The
ALLOS PARAKLETOS, one of the same kind called alongside to help. He is not of a
different kind but of the same kind with the Lord Jesus Christ. He talks, heals,
saves and does everything like Jesus. Jesus is just like the father, it then means
that the Holy Ghost is just like the father, which implies that the father, Jesus and

15
the Holy Ghost are one of the same kind with one another. The father says the
same thing as Jesus, just as the Holy Ghost speaks the very words of Jesus, John
16:13.
Parakeletos means
1. Comforter, John 14:16, 2 Corth 1:3
2. Counselor, Isaiah 11:2, Romans 8:16
3. Helper, Romans 8:26-28
4. Strengthener, Phil 4:13, Isaiah 11:2
5. Intercessor, Romans 8:26
6. Advocate, John 14:16
7. Standby, 2 Corth 12:9-10
Receiving the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is received after salvation. It is the Holy Spirit coming upon man
to enable him do supernatural things. It is man receiving Gods ability, becoming
identified with the omnipotence if God by the enablement of the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after the Holy Ghost is come upon you
The power here means Dunamis. It is the dynamic ability to cause changes.
Gods ability is received after the Holy Ghost comes upon ones life. The Holy Ghost is
received by faith and hes mostly received by the laying on of hands; Acts 8:17, Acts
8:6
Receiving the Holy Ghost means receiving the anointing for Christian service,
1John 2:20-27, 2 Corth 1:21, God equipping you with the ability to do what he would
have done if physically present on earth. You received the power to preach the gospel,
heal the sick and raise the dead, the Holy Ghost is for every child of God is received by
faith (Gal 3:2), it is a gift Acts 2:38. Since it is a gift, you dont have to work for it, you
only receive it when you hear that God desire to fill you with his Spirit comes upon
you immediately.
Being filled with the Holy Spirit

16
You receive the Holy Spirit once but the infilling of the Holy Ghost is a
continuous process. The apostles received the Holy Ghost in Acts 2:1-4.
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one
place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind,
and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appear unto them cloven
tongues of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy
Ghost and began to speak in tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
But in Acts 4:31 they were filled with the Holy Ghost again.
And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled
together; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spake the word of God
with boldness.
This signifies that there is a conscious daily infilling of the Holy Ghost by the believer.
Eph 5:18; And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
It means that it is our responsibility to be filled with the Spirit. This infilling of the
Holy Spirit makes us to maintain the glow as Christians.
The fellowship of the Holy Ghost
2 Corth 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship
of the Holy Ghost, be with you all Amen.
The Greek word for communion here means presence, sharing, fellowship,
participation, intimacy, friendship, comradeship (commander). The Holy Ghost can
actually become your friend. He is real and as you talk to him and recognizes that He
is always with you (Matt. 28:20b) your life takes on a new meaning. His presence
always goes with you, you cease to fear and Isaiah 41:10 becomes a living reality Fear
thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed: for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee;
yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

17
As you know that He is always with you, you develop an intimacy with him that
human mind cannot comprehend, His presence saturates your life. He become a friend
that sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24). He becomes the boss of your life,
you wouldnt want to hurt Him, every time worship escapes your lips and the only
thing you long for is to be found in His presence.

2B WEEK 2
Speaking in Tongues

Speaking in tongues means speaking in the language which is not of this world, but it
is the language given by the spirit of God. The bible also calls it the language of angels.

18
The bible says that those who believe will be identified by various signs amongst which
are speaking in tongue. The world will recognize that they are believers by these signs.
Mark 16:17, 1 Corth 14:22a
However, apart from being a sign through which we recognize the believer, speaking in
tongues helps the believer to build up himself.
a. 1Corth 14:4a
He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself.
That is to say that the one who speaks in tongues charges himself up, he energizes
himself up.
b. Jude 20
The believer is built up as he prays or speaks in tongues. That is to say that praying in
tongues builds the believer up on his faith life. It helps the believer to be established in
the faith.
c. Acts 10:46
Speaking in tongues is a language of the Spirit through which the believer magnifies
and glorifies God. The believer also gives thanks and praise to God as he speaks in
tongues. (1 Corth 14:17).
d. He who speaks in an unknown tongue speaks mysteries to God. That is, he
speaks hidden truth to God. No man understands him but God does him
because he speaks in the language of the spirit. (1Corth 14:2)
e. Speaking in tongues is a sign that should follow the believer. If you are a
believer, you ought to speak in other tongues just like a man ought to walk and
talk and eat. These are sign apart from the physical look of man. A Christian
should speak in tongues; it is a sign apart from the physical look of man. A
Christian should speak in tongues; it is a sign that must follow the believer.

19
In Mark 16:17, when the bible about speaking in tongues, it means the language given
to every believer to communicate in the spirit. This is a sign that God gave to everyone
who believes the gospel. It is a mark of identity. Every believer is entitled to this sign.
Here lies the major difference between speaking in tongues as recorded in Mark 16:17
and 1 Corth 12:10. The latter is a gift of the Spirit. It is given to believers as the Spirit
of God decides. In 1 Corth 12:10, the bible talks about the working of the Spirit of
God. The Spirit of God gives to certain individuals various gifts or operation as he
wills. The Spirit of God gives to each one the manifestation of the Spirit for the profit of
all. Vs 7
The Spirit of God does this at will and for the purpose of the building up of the body of
Christ. This is not the same thing in Mark 16:17. In 1 Corth 12:10, the Spirit of God
gives the individual the manifestation of different kinds of tongues to operate for a
particular purpose. The Spirit of God gives these different kinds of tongues for the
purpose of building the church.
The Gifts of the Holy Spirit 1 Corth 12;7-12
The gifts of the Holy Spirit refer to the manifestation of the Spirit given to every
Christian for the profit of all. There are nine gifts of the Spirit as outlined in 1 Corth
12;8-10

WORD OF WISDOM
WORD OF KNOWLEDGE
FAITH
GIFTS OF HEALING
WORKING OF MIRACLES
PROPHECY
DISERNING OF SPIRITS
DIVERS KINDS OF TONGUES

a. Purpose

20
Purpose of these gifts in the life of a believer is to build up the body of Christ. 1 Corth
14:1-3

b. How these gifts can be received

These gifts of the Holy Spirit can be received by faith and through strong desire.
1 Corth 12:31. There must be strong and earnest desire for these gifts.
1 Corth 14:1, Matthew 7:7-11, Mark 11:24
c. These are permanent. Romans 11:29
When God gives a gift, He gives it never to take it back His gifts are irrevocable.
d. One man can receive and operate all of them. Yes, one man can have all of
them.
John 3:34, Romans 15:29, Mark 9:23, John 15:7, Eph 3:19, James 1:5-8
e. These gifts can be exercised at will. 1 Corth 14;15, 1 Tim 4:14, 2 Tim 1:16

THE MINISTRY GIFTS

It was Paul who first gave a very definite explanation of the gifts of God to the body of
Christ. He said, But to everyone of us is given grace according to the measure of the
gift of Christ. Eph 4:7
This shows that every Christian with the exception of none has been graced of God to
work in the ministry of Jesus Christ. Paul went further to say, wherefore he said,
when he ascended upon high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. And he
gave some prophets; and some evangelists; and some pastors and teachers; For the
perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of
Christ. (Eph 4:8-12).
Paul clearly spelt out the various offices God has set apart to see to it that the
Christian is built up and made ready to do the work of the ministry.
There is a ministry given to those who occupy these five offices in the body of Christ.
There ministry is primarily to PERFECT THE SAINTS. In other words, to prepare and
build up the saints. So they can fulfill Gods purpose for their lives on earth. The five

21
fold ministry gifts are callings from God upon certain individuals. It is not everybody
that occupies these offices. It does not fall within the gifts of the Spirit that Paul asks
us to desire. It is a calling. From Paul, we also learn the basic function of these five
offices in the Church.
a. The Apostle
This comes from the Greek word Apostolos that means a sent one, a delegate, an
ambassador of the Gospel, officially a commissioner of Christ, a messenger of Christ.
An apostle is sent out with a message. In the sense, John the Baptist was an apostle
because, concerning him, the bible says,
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a
witness, to bear witness of the light that all men through him might believe.

John was sent with a message of the coming of the Christ. So an apostle is one sent
with a specific message. Paul declared;
For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify
my office. (Rom 11:13).
Paul was an apostle to the gentiles. According to Paul, the office of an apostle is
accompanied by signs, wonders and mighty deeds. He said,
Truly the sign of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience; in SIGNS, and
WONDERS, and MIGHTY DEEDS. (2 Corth 12:2). Paul lets us know that the early
church was built upon the foundation of the apostles and the prophets (Eph 2:20, 1
Corth 3:10-15)

b. The Prophet
This is derived from the Greek word Prophets. It shows a foreteller; an inspired
speaker. A prophet speaks forth the inspired word of God. He speaks forth the mind of
God. He sees and hears things supernaturally. Someone who occupies the office of a
prophet brings Gods vision to his people and help build proper spiritual foundation
for the people of God. Eph 2:20.

22
According to Paul, prophecies are for exhortation, edification and comfort of the
church; (1 Corth 14:3). Even though one can prophesy without necessarily being a
prophet, it follows therefore that a prophet by his words, exhorts, edifies and comforts
the church. His words are inspired. It is remarkable to note that of all the five-fold
ministry gifts, it was only the apostles and the prophets that Paul revealed laid
foundation of the church of Jesus Christ. In Eph 2:20, he said; Now therefore ye are
no more strangers and foreigners but fellow citizen with the saints and of the
household of God:
And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and the prophets, Jesus Christ
himself being the chief cornerstone. Eph 2:19-20.
Again in the third chapter of the book of Ephesians, Paul declared:
Whereby when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ
which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it is now revealed
unto his holy APOSTLES and PROPHETS by the Spirit. Eph 3:4-5.
It does appear from these two Pauline scriptures that the office of the apostles and
prophets were more essential at the foundation of the church. The apostles and the
prophets taught the word, pastured the first few churches and preached evangelistic
messages. After some time the other ministry gift began to emerge. Basically, the office
of the prophet brings direction to the church of God, because it sees into the mind of
God. Again it exhorts, edifies and comforts the church.

c. The Evangelist
Paul took this from the Greek word evangelisties that literally means a messenger of
good. It means one who brings or communicates the gospel of Jesus Christ. Because
of the ministry of the evangelist is mostly where the needy of the world is, this office is
more often characterized with manifestation of the Spirit of God by signs, miracles and
wonders.
Paul in Hebrews 2:4, said of how God bore witness to the words of the gospel preached
with signs, wonders, diverse miracles and the gift of the Holy Ghost.

23
Evangelists are the ones that motivate the church towards reaching out to the lost and
the training of the church members in evangelism. This is one of the major reasons
why Paul said they are given for the perfecting of the saints for the work of the
ministry.
d. The Pastor
The Greek word for Pastor as Paul used it is Poimen. This means a shepherd or one
who tends/herds flock. In the church Paul speaks of the pastors as those who care for,
rule over, nurture, feed, guard and guide members of the body of Christ. The Pastor
does not just relate with statistics, figures and things. He relates with people and their
spiritual well being is his prime concern. According to Apostle Paul, the pastoral office
has been charged by God with the responsibility of watching over the souls and
providing for the spiritual needs of Gods people placed under their local assembly.
Paul said; Obey them which have rule over you and submit yourselves, for they watch
for your souls as they that must give account; that they may do it with joy and not
with grief, for this is unprofitable for you. Heb 13:17.

c. The Teacher
Paul used the Greek word, Didaskalos, when he talked about the office of a teacher.
This means, one who instructs; who expound in details the word of God and any
revelation given by God (1 Corth 13:2). He understands Gods mysteries and
knowledge.
The teachers aim is to nourish the life of God implanted in others until it blossoms
into confident openness before God and they would be able to bear whatever fruit God
intends to produce. In short, it is clear that in the New Testament, the specific aim of
the word (teacher) is to bring believers to maturity.
According to Apostle Paul, the five-fold ministry gifts motivate and train the saint for
the work of the ministry, the Apostle motivates and trains them to do apostolic work.
The prophet does the same thing and so is the evangelist, pastors and teacher.

24
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE MINISTRY GIFTS AND THE GIFTS OF THE
HOLY SPIRIT
The major difference between these nine manifestations of the Spirit of God from the
ministry gifts earlier discussed is found in 1 Corth 12:7 which says, But the
manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
This shows that each and every Christian necessarily have at least one of these nine
manifestations of the Spirit. All however cannot operate in the five ministry offices. The
second difference is found in 1 Corth 14:1; where Paul said; Follow after charity, and
DISIRE spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy
So we find here that the gifts of the Holy Spirit can be coveted or desires but nowhere
were we told to desire the Pastoral, Prophets, Apostles and Teachers offices. These
according to Paul fall under the specific calling of God. He said; And no man taketh
this honor upon himself, but he that is called of God as was Aaron Heb 5:4
All these manifestations of the Spirit serves for the edifying and common good of the
Church (1 Corth 12:7); but Paul shows that the best of them is the gift of prophecy. 1
Corth 14:1
The reason is because it is one gift that edifies and builds up the church at once when
its in operation. He said; But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification,
and exhortation and comfort 1 Corth 14:3
Above all else, God desire his Church to be built and so be built and so the gift that
directly builds the Church should be desired more according to Paul.

Every Christian can walk in the power of the Holy Spirit

The bible says in Mark 16:16-17 these signs shall follow them that believe. They
shall cast out devils, they shall speak with new tongues, they shall lay hands on the
sick and they shall recover, Hallelujah. They shall drink any deadly thing and it shall
not hurt them. (Psalm 63:1-3, Matthew 10:1)

25
By believer, and individual puts himself in the power of the Holy Spirit. 1 Peter 1:5
says that we are kept by the anointing of the Spirit of God that energizes us. Eph 3:20,
Eph 1:19, 2 Corth 15:4, 2 Corth 4:7, 1 Corth 4:20
Every Christian can walk in the power of the Holy Spirit and lives in boldness.

Class 3A Week 3
The Christian Life 1- Doctrines
Doctrines
Saint Luke writing to Theophilus said,
Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of
those things which are surely believed among us, Even as they delivered them
unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the
word; it seems good to me also, having had a perfect understanding of all
things from the first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,

26
that thou mightiest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been
instructed

Luke 1: 1-4

Here Luke the apostle takes time out to explain to a disciple, the origin of the doctrine
of Christ and the foundation of his faith. A doctrine is a recognizable principle of
beliefs, teachings, values or instruction that is adhered to, accepted, believed, taught
and practiced by a given sect of people. Most doctrines are transferable concepts which
have been handed down to us; for example in the New Testament, we have these major
doctrines- Righteousness, baptisms, sanctification, prosperity etc. Each of them is
important in ensuring that we live a sound Christian life.
Doctrines can basically be classified into three groups:
-Scriptural doctrines
-Man made doctrines
-False doctrines
Scriptural doctrines are founded in the word of God and its context. They are
doctrines, which have been handed down to us from the apostles; who were taught by
our Lord Jesus Christ in the very beginning. (Acts 1:1)
Men made doctrines are patterned after the fleshly minds of human beings. They are
doctrines that border on the five senses- touch, taste, smell, feel and seeing and often
times binds the people of God. A typical example is the circumcision which some
believing Jews wanted to impose on the Gentiles (Acts 15:1, Gal 1:6-12, Col 2:18)
Some characteristics of Man-Made doctrines
a)
b)
c)
d)
e)

They are totally based on the five senses and not on the sixth sense of faith.
They are not based on the understanding of Christ.
They make a poor specimen out of the new creation.
They exalt the flesh but are often hidden under a cloak of humility.
They do not offer liberty to the new creation and we have been called unto
liberty.
f) Their end is destruction and has no spiritual base.
False Doctrines

27
As I besought thee to abide still in Ephesus; when I went into Macedonia, that
thou mightiest charge some that they teach no other doctrine; neither give heed
to fables, and endless genealogies, which minister questions; rather than godly
edifying which is in faith.(1 Tim 1:3-4)
Now the spirit speaketh expressly that in the latter times some shall depart
from the faith; giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.
Speaking lies in hypocrisy having their conscience seared with a hot iron.
Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meals; which God has
created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the
truth. (1 Tim 4:1-3)
Most false doctrines are based on the perversion of the truths of Gods word. From the
time of Christ; we have had false teachers and prophets who brought in false
revelation. Amidst the diverse teachings they bring; they always try to disprove the fact
that Christ was manifested in the flesh and that is the spirit of the anti-Christ. (1
John 4:1-3)
Scriptural references: Acts 2:42, Galatians 1:6-12, Col 2: 18-23, Ephesians 4:14, 1
Tim 1:3
The Foundational Doctrines of Christ
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto
perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and
of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and
of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. Hebrews 6:1-2

Certain truths contained in the Word are referred to as foundational principles of the
doctrine of Christ. They are fundamental to faith and form the foundation of a sound

28
Christian experience. Any doctrine that in any way disagrees with these fundamental
doctrines is according to the standard of Gods Word a false doctrine; they therefore
form a good reference point for judging any doctrine. All the major cults and religions
of the world deny and reject one or more of these fundamental doctrines but these
doctrines form the bedrock of the gospel of Christ.

The Foundational doctrines of Christ are:

1. Repentance from dead works

2. Faith towards God
3. Baptism
4. Laying on of hands
5. Resurrection of the dead
6. Eternal judgment.

1.

Repentance from dead works

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith
of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be
justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the
works of the law shall no flesh be justified.Gal 2:16
It is essential for a Christian to realize that he is justified by his faith and not by
anything that he did or does. The Bible says, That if thou shalt confess with thy
mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt be saved Rom 10:9. That is all that is required for salvation. In
Hebrews 9:11-14, the writer lets us know that through the blood of Christ, we have
our consciences purged from dead works to serve the Living God. What are these dead
works?

29
Studying from verses 11-13 of the same chapter, we can see that Apostle Paul was
talking about the rituals by which the people of the Old Testament came to God. Hes
letting them know that no act of sacrifice on our part to please God is acceptable.
Rather God sees them as dead works, or all that is required for us is to believe and be
justified.

2.

Faith towards God

The Bible says in Hebrews 11: 1-2, Now faith is the substance of things hoped

for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report.
The life o f a believer is a life of faith; and God has called us to live in the realm of
faith. As Gods children we walk by faith and not by sight; sight here means sensory
perceptions. 2 Corinthians 5:7. Before we got born again, we were led by our sensory
perceptions but now God wants us to change. He wants us to live in His realm, the
realm of faith.
To some people, the life of faith is a struggle but it shouldnt be like that for a
Christian because we are born in faith. The Bible says in Romans 12:3,For I say,
through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of
himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God
hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. That is all we require-that measure of
faith. This is the faith that brought us to Christ by our responding to the word of God.
Romans 10: 9-10.
It is every believers responsibility to develop his faith. So then faith cometh by
hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Rom 10:17). As we hear the Word of God,
we are building up our faith; so every believer must make conscious efforts of
continually hearing the word of God not just by attending church gathering or being in
meetings where the word of God is taught, but by buying relevant audio and video
tapes and other faith building materials.
3.

Baptisms

30
The word baptize is derived from the Greek word baptizo, which means to immerse
completely into. There are 2 baptisms talked about under the New Covenant. These
are:
Baptism into Christ: This is what happens when a man is born again, by the
Holy Ghost. He is buried into Christ in identification. He thus partakes of his
death, burial and consequently resurrection into a new life.
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ
were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by
baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by
the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Rom 6:3-4

For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be
Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made
to drink into one Spirit. 1 Cor 12:13
See also 1 Peter 3: 20-21
Baptism by immersion in water: This is one of the sacraments of the church
of Christ. It is the immersion of one completely into water; and is an outward
manifestation of what happens to a man when he is born again, and baptized
into Christ. It was commanded by the Lord himself, as a sign of faith;
showing the world that we have believed and identify with the redemption of
God for mankind.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Matt 28:19

4.

Laying on of hands

The main reason for laying on of hands is for an impartation of grace upon an
individual either for healing or empowerment or to impart a gift. During laying on of

31
hands that has to do with imparting a spiritual blessing, it often goes along with a
prophecy. For example in Numbers 27:18-23, where Moses laid hold on Joshua to
impart his honor, we find that, by the Spirit, Moses gave him a charge. Later on
Deuteronomy 34:9 records that Joshua was full of the spirit of wisdom because Moses
laid hands on him.
From the New Testament, there are 4 main reasons for it:
To minister healing-Mark 16:17-18
To minister the Holy Ghost-Acts 9:16
To impart spiritual gifts- 1Timothy 4:14
Ordination into the ministry- Acts 13:2-3
5.

Resurrection of the dead

The scriptures record that it is appointed for a man to die once and after that
judgment. (Hebrews 9:27). But from the understanding of Gods Word, we know that
death is an enemy of God. God never meant for man to die but through the
disobedience of man, death came into the earth. The Bible said in Romans 5: 17, For
if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive
abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus
Christ.
Death reigned until the obedience of Christ. Now, Christ has abolished death (2
Timothy 1:9-10) and has given us the power to choose life. In Christ Jesus, death is a
choice for the believer, death cannot reign over us. But those who die in Christ have
hope in the resurrection. The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-16, But I would
not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that
ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus
died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with
him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive
and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are
asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the

32
voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall
rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with
them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the
Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words
We believe in the resurrection of the dead because the Word of God teaches us
so. Man is a spirit being and does not go extinct. When he dies, his spirit goes to his
master- either God or the devil (Romans 6:16), but his body is buried and returns to
the dust.
Scriptural references: John 5:28-29, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-16, Hebrews 9:27.

6.

Eternal Judgment

The scriptures record that it is appointed for a man to die once and after that the
judgment. (Hebrews 9:27). We have two types of judgment, one for the believers and
the other for the unbelievers.
Judgment seat of Christ
The judgment seat of Christ is where Christians receive rewards for the deeds they
performed while on earth. 1 Corinthians 3:13-15. Note, that the Christian will not face
the judgment seat to be condemned or judged. There is absolutely no condemnation
to those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1, Romans 14:10).
The Great White Throne Judgment
This is when the non-Christian will be judged or condemned for not accepting Jesus
Christ as their Lord and Savior. Here the church also will be present together with God
to pass judgment on the non-Christian. (1 Corinthians 6:2-3).

33

Class 3B Week 3
Other Doctrines Of Christ

1. Righteousness

34
Righteousness is the nature of God imparted to a mans spirit that gives him the
ability to stand in the presence of God without a sense of guilt, inferiority complex or
condemnation.(2 Corinthians 5:21,Romans 4:5)
Righteousness, according to the scriptures, is a free gift from God. No man can earn it
by working for it, doing something to get it. It is a free gift that is made available to
everyone by the substitutionary work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Every born-again child
of God is as the Lord Jesus Christ himself. Nor can anyone grow or increase in
righteousness, but definitely you can grow in the consciousness of your righteousness.
This helps the communication of your faith to become effective and productive.
Philemon 1:6.

Other scripture references: Romans 3:21-22, Romans 1:17, Romans 8:1-4, Romans
5:17, 2Peter 1:4, Romans 3:22, Romans 10:10
2. Sanctification
This means consecration or separation from others for a special use. It is twofold:
The separation of the believer from the world when he gets born again. This is
instantaneous upon receiving Christ. ... but ye are washed, but ye are
sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit
of our God.1 Corinthians 6:11. See also Hebrews 10:10; Jude 1.
The ultimate separation of the believer unto God. This is by the Word of God
affecting his being. This is gradual. It is not progressive or procedural, but
continuous.
Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. John 17:17.

Scriptural references: Hebrews 10:10, 1 Corinthians 6:11, 1 Corinthians 1:2, 1

Thessalonians 5:23, 1 Thessalonians 4:4, 2 Timothy 2:22.
3. Deliverance

35
The word deliver means to take out; to save; to rescue from for example danger.
Salvation is the central theme of the gospel and one of its benefits to the new creation
is deliverance.
God has delivered us out of the control and dominion of darkness. We are free from
the power, hold, dominion or authority of darkness (Colossians 1:13). This is a present
tense reality; Jesus came to redeem man not just by paying a price [ransom] but by
force (Exodus 6:6).
Jesus made a public display of Satans defeat. He conquered and disarmed the
power of darkness and spoiled them, that is, he took everything they had that was of
value to them (Colossians 2:15). This victory secured our deliverance. Whats more? He
translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son. He brought us out to take us in. We
have been delivered out of the domain of failure, fear, poverty, sickness...not will be
delivered. It is our present tense possession. God did not stop here, He also gave us
authority over Satan and all his cohorts in the name of Jesus (Ephesians 1:22,
Philippians 2:9-11). We have been given the power of attorney to use His name and in
that name we cast out devils (Mark 16:17).
4. Remission
This is the removal or washing away or blotting away of sins. It is made possible by
the expiratory and propitiatory work of the blood. God has, by the blood of the Lamb
totally wash away sin. This has been done for the world, for Christ has paid for the
sins of the whole world. It affects the nature of sin.
5. Substitution
This is the basis for a lot of the blessings which we enjoy in the new birth. Christ
came down from God and was substituted for us. He took our place and bore the
judgment of God and the curse of sin on mankind, and therefore, we can now enjoy
the blessing of restored relationship with God.

For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by
sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned

36
sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us...in
other words, God hath made him to be sin for us, who know no sin; that we might be
made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore, ye know the grace of our
Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that
ye through his poverty might be rich.
Scriptural references: 2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 8: 3-4; 2 Corinthians 8:9.
6. Forgiveness
To forgive means to overlook a wrong as if it were not done and therefore to waive
the penalty. While remission deals with the nature of sin, forgiveness deals with the
acts of sin.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in
us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:8, 9.
The scripture was written to believers, those who had already received remission. It
is Gods way of dealing with any mistakes a believer might make, or any sins he might
commit. It does not apply to the unbeliever who still has the nature of sin, because he
cannot confess all his sins. Remission, however is for the unbeliever, for it takes away
the nature that causes sin.
7. Redemption
This means to deliver or set free by paying a price. The Bible tells us that Christ
gave himself for us to redeem us from iniquity.
...our great God and Savoir Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He
might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own
special people, zealous for good works.Titus 2:13-14
He gave himself as a substitutionary sacrifice so that we might be set free.
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in
once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. (Heb 9:12).
8. Justification

37
This means being declared not guilty; discharged, acquitted. It implies that one had
a bill of accusations leveled against him, but as declared not guilty by the judge.
According to the scriptures, we are Justified by Jesus Christ.
...through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him
all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be
justified by the Law of Moses.Acts 13:38-39
This is because he has already by his death and suffering paid the penalty for
the crime committed and by rising from the dead declared us not guilty.
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who
do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of
the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and
death. Rom 8:1-2

38

CLASS 4A WEEK 5
The Christian Life 2- New Creation Realities
What Is Reality or Truth
In John 14:6 Jesus said I am the WAY, the TRUTH (REALITY) and the LIFE.
Truth is not what we see with our eye, feel with our bodies, hear with our ears.
It is not anything we can perceive with our five senses. Truth is whatever God has
DECLARED about a thing in His word. In other words, if doctors say you have cancer
but God says you are healed then the doctors lied irrespective of what you feel in your
body. Truth has nothing to do with your senses. Jesus prayed, Sanctify them by the
truth. John 17:17. Reality is not what you feel or see. It is what the word says. (2
Corinthians 4:18, John 1;17, John 17:17, John 14:6) Anything that disagrees with the
word of God is a lie even though it may be real to the five senses. It is important we

39
understand perfectly what reality or truth is because we are dealing with what
happened to the Christian. Who he has become and what he now has.
2. Who are you?
Firstly, the Christian is a NEW CREATION.
Therefore, if any man be in Christ he is a NEW CREATION: all things are
passed away and all things are become new. (2 Cor 5:17)
This is the cardinal point. Every Christian must understand this. To walk in the
newness of life as the Bible declares is to understand that we have become new
creatures with new kind of life. This life is not human. It is Zoe, the God Kind of life.
We are not talking about a changed behavior or refurbished character. We are talking
about a brand new man who has ever before existed. He is just given birth to with a
new life. Paul says that in God, neither circumcision availeth anything nor
uncircumcision , but a NEW CREATURE (Galatians 6:15). He is saying that the man is
new despite what the outside looks like. He is now living from the inside to the
outside.

That you put off concerning the former conversation, the old man, which is
corrupt according to the deceitful lusts: and ye put on the NEW MAN, which
after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (Ephesians 4:22-24).
The new creation is a new man created with Gods divine nature of
righteousness and holiness. They are his attributes. (2 Peter 1:4).
Secondly, the Christian has become the son of God: He is born again but this time of a
different Father. Not the earthly father but the heavenly father through His seed.
Which is born again not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but
of God. (John 1:13). That is why the Bible says that all things about the new creation
are of God.
Apostle John said, Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto us,
that we should be called the sons of God. This is why we cry Abba Father because
the very life of the Almighty God is in us making us his beloved sons just as much as
Jesus is.(John 1:13, Romans 8:16-17).

40
3. You Now Live in Zion
But ye are come unto Mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God,
the heavenly Jerusalem, and unto an innumerable company of angels (Hebrews
12:22).
This is where we live. This is the city that hath foundations that Abraham was
looking for,(Hebrews 11:10). The Bible did not say, You are going to come. It says you
have come. We now live in the Promised Land. We have arrived. Jesus said, I am the
way, the truth and the life. He is the way to the Promised Land and we have passed
through Him to get there. (Isaiah 35:10).
The Bible says that Mount Zion is the city of our solemnities (Isaiah 33:20). It is
the city of our appointed feasts, and those that live there shall never say they are sick.
Zion is the kingdom of light.
Who hath delivered us form the power of darkness and hath translated us into
the kingdom of His dear son. (Col 1:13)
We are truly not of this world. We live in Gods Kingdom but we live on the earth
also. We truly live in two worlds. (Hebrews 12:22, John 14:6, Isaiah 35:20, Colossians
1:13, John 17:14)
4. You Sit in a Place Of Power
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in
Christ(Ephesians 2:6)
We are seated with Christ at the right hand of God in the heavenly places
(Ephesians 21:20-21). It is a place of power and authority. When Jesus rose from the
dead, He said, All hail, all power in heaven and in earth has been given unto me. Go
ye into the world and teach all nations...
He said that He was sending us even as the Father has sent him. He did not reduce
the authority, He sent us with the same measure of authority. ( Ephesians 1:20-21;
Ephesians 2:6; Mathew 28:18-19; mark 16:16-18).
5. The I can do Mentality.

41
There is a mentality that ought to control what the Christian does. The
Christian has no limitations whatsoever. The Bible says I can do all things through
Christ which strengthens me (Philippians 4:13). Nothing is impossible to the new
creation. The reason is because the ability of God is at work in him. The power in Him
is the anointing of the Christ.
The Christian should not let anything limit him. It does not matter what the
situation looks like, the Bible says, you can do all things through Christ, which
strengthens you. It says, Nay in all these things we are more than conquerors
(Romans 8:37); and Greater is he that lives in you than he that lives in the world.
(Philippians 4:13; Matthew 19:26; Mark 11:24; Romans 8:37; Galatians 2:20).
6.You are Complete in Him
And you are complete in Him, which is the head of all principalities and
powers. ( Col 2:9-10)
The fullness of the Godhead bodily dwelt in Jesus and we are complete in Him. It
means that the fullness of the Godhead dwells in us. The bible talks about the
mystery hidden by God from all ages and generation which He has made known
among the Gentiles which is CHRIST IN YOU THE HOPE OF GLORY.
Christ dwells in our heart fully. We have the full deposit of gods anointing. We do
not require a double portion of it because that is less than Gods best. The fullness of
deity dwells in our hearts and we are complete in Him who is the head of all
principalities and powers.
1 John 3:2 lets us know that there is no difference between Jesus and us today. He
said As He is so are we in this world, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be but
when He shall appear we shall see Him as He is.
7.

You Are Gods Righteousness

Righteousness is the nature of God. It is that nature that we have received from God

that gives us a right standing in His presence. It gives us the ability to stand before
God without a sense of guilt, inferiority or condemnation.

42
It is a gift bestowed on us by God irrespective of whatever good we have done. This gift
is received by faith. It is righteousness that gives us the ability to reign in life without
feeling any sense of condemnation.
For if by one mans offence death reigned by one: much more they which
received abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life
by one Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17).
It is tool of domination. This righteousness is received by faith because it is a
gift and not by observing the works of the law.
And being found In him not having my own righteousness, which is of the law,
but that through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by
faith. (Philippians 3:9)
We submit to Gods righteousness by ceasing to trust in our works. (Romans
10:1-5)
Righteousness gives us access to Gods presence. (Ephesians 2:18; Ephesians 3:12)
It gives us boldness: Hebrews 10: 19; Proverbs 28:1
It gives us peace: Romans 5:1; Isaiah 32:17; Romans 5:17; 2 Corinthians 5:21;
Romans 10:1-5; Ephesians 3:12; Ephesians 2:18.

CLASS 4B WEEK 5
The Christian Life 2- New Creation Realities

1. You have Eternal Life

Eternal life is the heritage of every Christian. In the Greek language from where
this word was translated, it is called ZOE. It is the quality of life in the heart of God
that makes Him who he is..When people talk about the NEW LIFE in Christ, they are
making references to this eternal life. It is this life that makes any man who comes to
Christ a NEW CREATION. When Jesus said in John 10:10 that,...I am come that they
may have life and have it more abundantly, He was referring to Zoe. The life of God is
in the heart of a Christian in such a way that all he will ever need is found in that life.
There is only one condition precedent to having this life imparted into our hearts. The
Bible declares that; For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son
that whosoever BELIEVETH in Him should not perish but have EVERLASTING LIFE.
(John 3:16)
The only condition there is to receive life is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. (John
5:24, John 20:31)
According to the Bible, when a man believes in Jesus Christ as the son of God,
he is immediately a recipient of this God kind of life, i.e. Zoe. 2Corinthians 5:17
actually declares that he becomes a new creation with old things having passed away.
He receives a new life. The God life in his spirit and immediately becomes a partaker of
the divine nature. This nature or life is in Christ Jesus, (1 John 5:11-12).

44
When a man becomes born again, the bible records that he is born of God and
not of human will. From this time he has actually become a recipient of Gods life
because it was God who gave birth to him. Everything reproduces according to its
kind. Plant seed gives birth to plants; dogs also give birth to dogs; man give birth to
man with the human life in his nostril; but when God gives birth, he also reproduces
according to his Kind. He gives birth to gods. (John 10:34).
It is becoming clear why Jesus Christ came to the world. It was not religion he
came to bring, neither did He come to introduce sect. He came with the life of God for
man. In Him there is the proof that man has the capacity to both CONTAIN and
EXPRESS God. He came to introduce life because He was the master off life Himself.
He said, ...I am come that they may have life and have it more abundantly. He came
to put an end to death and its effect. The books of Hebrews declares that He through
death might destroy the one that has the power of death that is the devil and deliver
those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. He broke
the power of death and took man out in freedom. He actually ABOLISHED death. Bible
declares;
But is now made manifest by the appearing of our savior Jesus Christ, who hath
ABOLISHED death and brought LIFE and IMMORTALITY to light through the gospel.
(2 Timothy 1:10)
This was the single mission of Jesus Christ on the earth and He completely fulfilled
it. Bible says that He came and destroyed every works of the devil. He brought LIFE to
the world. That life is Zoe.
2. Your Right In Christ
Slaves do not have rights because they are subject to their masters. When we talk
of rights, we are presupposing the presence of freedom or liberty. A man has legal
rights; The United Nations chapter on fundamental rights of people gives people the
legal right to life, personal protection to that life and properties. In other words these
rights can be enforced. Jesus declared;

45
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel
to the poor: He hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the
captives and recoveries of the sight to the blind, to set at LIBERTY them that are
bruised. (Luke 4:18)
The word liberty means released. That is to be set free or to bring out of
slavery. Jesus said he does this by the anointing. Read Galatians 5:13, Galatians 2:4.
In these last two scripture verses, the word liberty is the same thing as right. It is
synonymous with authority. So we have been called into liberty/ freedom which
freedom is empowered with a legal right. So Christ brought us out of slavery, so he
could bring us into freedom with legal rights. What are the enforceable rights?
A. The right to Choose
God made man a free moral agent with the right to actually determine his destiny.
Because a lot of people view Christianity religiously, they treat it like any other religion
of the world. In religion people/ man loses his rights of expression. His right to choose
becomes nullified. When people make a statement like what will be will be they are
demonstrating their ignorance on Gods plan for man. They negate the right to choose.
When people want to get healed or to receive something from God and they dont get it,
they are quick to say Gods will is not for them to have what they desired of Him. They
do not know that God has given us the right to make our choices and have them
established.
Blind Bartimeaus demonstrated this right when he could not be kept from
shouting at Jesus for his deliverance. Religion has taught them that sickness comes
because someone has committed one sin or the other and so the sick one would have
no right to seek for healing. But Bartimeaus refused and Jesus healed him. (Mark
10:51). Jesus specifically asked him what he wanted Him to do for him. He did not
take it for granted that the man wanted his sight restored. He could have asked for
money and Christ would have given him some, but he asked for his sight. He chose
between money and his sight and Christ obliged him.

46
This same principle is revealed all over the scripture. When God visited judgment
on the prophet of Baal, Elijah the prophet asked the Israelites to choose that very day
who they will serve. God never subjects people to a choice. He gives everybody the
right to choose the kind of life he wants to live. He even gives us the right to choose
not to die. (Philippians 1:21-25)

So God has given us the right to choose what we want. People do not know this
because they do not know the will of God. But His will is in His word. When we know
His word, we will not be in the dark.
B. Right to Live
This is one liberating thought that the gospel has brought to us. To many, this is
almost as heretic as saying that Jesus Christ is not the Son of God. The religious
leaders have made all their subjects to believe that death came from God. They preach
that God gives and takes at His own will. They even say that death is a necessary end
and is inevitable. The Bible did not teach this. Bible actually calls death an enemy.
The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death (1 Corinthians 15:26)
It does not make any sense to say that God takes people away by death. Yes, He does
take people away but he has a better means of doing that. He would not require the
service(s) of an enemy to achieve a purpose. Bible says;
By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death, and was not found
because God hath translated him, for before his translation he had a testimony that
he pleased God. (Hebrews 11:5)
So God didnt have to kill the man to take him away. Death is an enemy and a
tool of the devil for destruction. It can be resisted and subdued by the faith of God.
(Hebrews 2:14-15)
Jesus has destroyed him that had the power of death, that is, the devil. He stripped
him of his power and made life available to us. 2 Tim 1:10.
Jesus Christ has given to us the right to live. One who does not believe in Him may die
of diseases because he really does not have the right to live being still under the

47
domain of the devil who is the destroyer and murderer. The Christian on the other
hand can refuse to die irrespective of the doctors verdict. Jesus said, I am the
resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he
live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. (John 11:25-26)

People say that he was making reference here to spiritual death but this is not so. He
was talking to people who were already dead spiritually. He was talking about physical
death. He said he shall never die. We can also exercise our rights to live and behave
like Paul. (Philippians 1:21-24)
When he decided to go, he let them know also that it was a matter of decision.
C. Right to Rule
Much more they which receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness
shall reign in life by one Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:17)
The Christian has a right to take charge and exercise dominion in this world.
The Bible declares that God has put everything under the feet of Christ and gave Him
to be the head of all things to His body i.e. the church. He made kings and priests
unto himself. (Revelations 1: 5-6)
1 Peter 2:9 declares that we are a royal priesthood displaying the wonderful virtues of
Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light. It is important to note
that we have already been made kings and priests of God. It is not a promise from God
that would be fulfilled at some future date. It is what God has already done for us. We
are kings now, and as kings we have the right to rule. We are ruling over everything
that should be subject to Christ; over principalities, powers, circumstances, and
diseases. The power of a king is in his words. We exercise dominion through the words
of our mouths. (Ecclesiastes 8:4)
3. Our Inheritance In Christ
A. All things
In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the
purpose of Him who worketh in us all things after the counsel of His will. (Eph 1:11)

48
The Christian is identified with Jesus Christ in such a way that all the inheritance
of Christ belongs to him. The Bible declares that we are heirs of God and Joint heirs
together with Christ.(Romans 8:17). All that Christ inherited is for the believer.
God who at sundry times and in diverse manners spake in time past unto the fathers
by the prophets; Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His son, whom He hath
appointed HEIR of all things, by whom also he hath made the worlds. (Hebrews 1:1-2)
Jesus received an inheritance from the father. His inheritance is all things that
the father has. So God appointed Him heir of all things. In the same way the Christian
has become an heir or a possessor of all things. ALL THINGS ARE YOURS (1
Corinthians 3:21). The all things consist of all Gods possessions.
The heavens, even the heavens, are the Lords: but the EARTH hath He given to the
children of men. (Psalm 115:16).
B. Divine Health
The Bible here lets us know that Jesus suffered afflictions with our afflictions. He
took our diseases upon Him and with those stripes we are healed. Divine healing is
the Christians inheritance. Beyond divine healing is divine health. It is for the
Christian. A Christian can actually live in health always and refuse the devils attempt
to afflict his body with the life of God, he was recreated in divine health. The fallen
nature of the first Adam came with sickness and could be influenced by it, but the
nature of God, which the Christian has now received, came with life. It came with
health.
The power of sickness has been destroyed and so it cannot have a house in the
Christians body. Health became a part of our inheritance the day we received Jesus
Christ into our lives. It is not what we get by faith; it is what belongs to us. It is our
present hour possession.
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in HEALTH, even as
thy soul prospereth . (3 John 2).
We not only possess health now, it is Gods supreme desire that we keep being in
health.

49
C. Prosperity and Abundance Not many believe that Christians should be wealthy
and prosperous in material things. But the apostle John clearly states that, it is
one of Gods foremost desires for his children to live in prosperity.
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as
thy soul prospereth (3 John 2)
Jesus did not only suffer for our sins and sickness. He also suffered for our poverty.
He paid all the necessary penalties for our freedom from poverty.
For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich,
yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich.
(2 Corinthians 8:9)
God has reasons why he wants His Children to prosper.
4. You are Gods Address
The address of a person is where the person lives; His house, where he operates
from. In the Old testament God was dwelling in tents. During the time of Moses he
was instructed of god to build an ark according to the pattern shown to him on the
mount. After Moses finished building the ark, the glory of the Lord filled the ark.
Exodus 40: 34-35. Then the cloud covered the tent of the meeting, and the glory of the
Lord filled the tabernacle. Moses could not enter the tent of meeting because of the
cloud that had settled upon it. That was when God started dwelling in the ark. The ark
typified the presence of the Lord. It means that wherever the ark was, Gods presence
was equally there.
When the Israelites were crossing the Jordan into the promised Land, immediately the
feet of the priests carrying the ark of the covenant touched the waters edge, the water
parted. Joshua 3:13-16. That was Gods address. They carried the ark to battlefields
and defeated their enemies.
During the time of Solomon, Solomon built God an ark and after dedicating the
temple, the glory of the Lord filled the temple. 2 Chronicles 7:1-2. God started dwelling
in that temple. When they prayed to God, they came to Jerusalem where the temple
was. If they were far from Jerusalem, they had to pray facing Jerusalem. When they
sinned against God and were afflicted because of their disobedience, they normally

50
came with ashes on their heads and their clothes torn before the temple of the Lord for
God to forgive them. That temple became Gods headquarters, His home address, His
office where he reaches out to sons of men.
The Bible says that the most high does not live in houses made of human hands (Acts
7:48). That was why when Christ died the curtain of the temple was torn into two from
the top to the bottom and the Holy Ghost will now dwell in anybody that will confess
Jesus as Lord of their lives.
In the old Testament temple we have the outer court, inner court and the Holy
of Holies where God dwells. Likewise our bodies typify the outer court, where all
activities of life take place. Our soul represents the inner court while our spirit
represents the holy of holies where God dwells in. So in the New Testament, our body
is called the temple of God (1 Corinthians 6:19), but He dwells in our spirit. We have
the inner man and the outward man. (2 Cor 4:16). The inward man is made up of the
spirit and the soul. God dwells in our spirit, in the hidden man of the heart. Our body
is our house. It houses our human spirit. Since God dwells in our spirits, it means
that our body is the house of God.(Hebrews 3:6).
It means that since God dwells in us, everybody that needs God ought to come
to His house as they did in the old testament. If you want to find the head of state, you
go to Aso rock; thats where he stays. Likewise if you want to come to God, come to his
house. We are Gods address. He works in us and through us. We are his
headquarters, wherever we are, God is there. We carry Him around. The work of the
master is taking place in our body. When a sinner needs repentance, deliverance,
healing or anything, they ought to come to where God lives. So carry God to the people
that need Him. We are now the walking, living house of the Almighty God; carrying
Him to a lost world.
Ephesians 2;21-22 says that we are Gods building. The foundation of the temple has
been laid which is Jesus Christ. In 1 Corinthians 6:19, the Bible says that we are
Gods temple and in Ephesians 1:21-22, says that we are still being built into a
dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit. Thus Ephesians 2:21-22 deals with our

51
knowledge. It has to do with the consciousness that we are Gods temple and his
presence in our lives will start operating tremendously with power, so that everywhere
we are, people can feel the actual presence of the Almighty God. This is the mystery of
Christianity. The pulsating, transcendent, victorious life of the Son of God in a human
person. (Colossians 1:27)
So we will be so filled with his presence that we will know for certainty that we have
been crucified with Christ and we no longer live but Christ living His beautiful life
through us.
5. His Extension
The body of Christ is a part of Christ. Jesus is the head, and the body is the
church but both of us make up Christ. Christ means the anointed one and his
anointing. When Jesus was anointed of the Holy Ghost that He became Christ (the
anointed one), He went about doing good healing all that were oppressed by the devil
because God was with him.
In Christ there are two generations in one. In Matthew 1:1-17, the Bible says that from
the carrying away from Babylon to Christ is fourteen generations but if we count it we
have thirteen. That means that in Christ we have two generations, Jesus and the
Church. Jesus lived His life, performed outstanding miracles and was taken up to
heaven and we are the people that are extending His ministry, work and life on earth.
The Bible says that he shall see his offspring/ seed and shall prolong His days. What
Jesus started, He continues through the Holy Ghost, which He has given to us. We are
just like Him in every way, born of the same spirit, by the same word, have the same
life, and above all have the same father. What he started He continued in us by
anointing with the Spirit.(Acts 1:8 )

The Bible says that we shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon us.
That was when we received the power to be a Christ. We were anointed. First of all we
were baptized/ immersed into the Holy Ghost and later the Holy Ghost came to dwell

52
in us. We are in Christ ( the anointed one and his anointing), that means that we were
immersed into the anointing.
It means that we have received so that we can do the works of Christ because it is the
same anointing that Christ had that made Him do the works of Him who sent Him.
1 John 2;20,27. The anointing abides in us . it doesnt leave, it stays there
permanently. We however have to cultivate the anointing. So we are the ones
prolonging his days. Jesus can be felt in the world just as He was felt during His earth
work through the anointing that we have received through the Holy Ghost. We are one
and the same generation doing the same things that he did while on earth.
Jesus cannot cast out devils anymore or heal the sick, or raise the dead, since
he can only do it through us. That is why we are his extension.

53

CLASS 5A
CHRISTIAN SERVICE AND BEHAVIOR

Introduction
Christianity is not religion. It is the life of God revealed through the human
person. It is God dwelling in the heart of man and causing the man to manifest such
attributes known only with God. The bible says,
If any man be in Christ Jesus, He is a new creation; old things are passed away and
all things are become new. (2 Corth 5:17).
The new creation has a brand new life working in him. It is the life of God.
Concerning him, the bible says; But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, temperance, against such there is no law. These
are not the fruits of the Holy Spirit. They are the qualities, characters, nature of the
new creation.
OUR CONFESSION

54
But we having the same spirit of faith according as it is written, I Believe and
therefore have I spoken; we also believe and therefore speak.
Christianity is a life of confession. Confession comes from the Greek word, Homolodia
which means, speaking the same things with God in consent. The bible says that what
we speak is not what we see, think or feel. We speak what we believe. (Heb 13:5-6)
God has spoken so that we may boldly state what he said concerning us in
agreement with him. This is the Christian life. It is our confession that put our faith to
work. Salvation is sealed by confession. Mere believing in the mind does not do
anything until we declare who we are, what we have become etc. confession puts the
power of God to work. Bible say; That if thou shall confess with thy mouth, the Lord
Jesus and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Our confession sets our lives on course. Our life goes in the direction of our
confession. Heb 11:3 For by faith we understand that the world was framed by the
word of God.

Life and Death is in the Power of the Tongue

This is an extension of the last point we made concerning confession. The last
point deals with saying the same thing with God. In other words agreeing with God
with our words, but these one deals with the power of our tongue. The tongue has
power to kill or make alive. The reason why we have to agree with God and say what he
says is because his words are spirit and they are life. (John 6:63). Therefore, his word
will produce life for us. Any other words will produce negative things because there is
power in the tongue. Bible says; Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and
they that love it shall eat the fruit therefore. (Prov. 18:21)
This is very strong. The power to control life lies in the tongue even though the
tongue is one of the smallest members of the body. (James 3:2-6)
The bible shows that the tongue controls everything about life. Jesus said in Mark
11:22 that we shall have whatever we say. We must keep speaking the word of God.
The bible says we should hold fast our confession.

55
Faith Walk
The Christian walk is s walk of faith. The bible says that without faith, it is
impossible to please God because he that cometh to God must believe that he is and
that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Heb 11:6). We do not walk by
what we see but by what the word says. Our sight should be focused on nothing else
but on the word. The Bible says;
While we look not at the things that which are seen, but at the things which are not
seen: For the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen
are eternal. (2 Corth 4:18)
Everything that senses can perceive is temporal. They are subject to change but
the word of God abides forever. So the bible says, for we walk by faith and not by sight.
(2 Corth 5:7). Our walk of faith is based on the law of faith. The law of faith declares, 2
Corth 4:13.
We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believe and therefore
have I spoken; we also believe and therefore speak.
This why God has said, let the weak say I am Strong.
Christianity is a life of submission
The Christian life is a life of submission. Submission is to the word of God. When
we submit ourselves to one another or to the authority (both spiritually and earthly)
we are submitting to the word because, it is the word that admonishes us to live in
submission. There are three levels authority that the bible asks the Christian to
recognize and submit to. They are
1. Authority in the Home
This basically makes references to the relationship between the husband and wife
and between the children and the parents. For the husbands and the wife, the bible
says; Wives submit your own husband, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head
of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.
(Eph 5:22-23)

56
Notice that it did not say Wives submit to all husbands. It says to your own
husbands. While the wife is submitted to her own husband, her husband is asked to
love her. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave
himself to it (Eph 5:25).
Authority is given the husband to be the head over his wife and so God commends
the wife to submit herself to the husbands authority. The authority the husband
exercise over his wife is likened to the one Christ exercises over the church and the
wife is to submit herself to the husband the way the church submits to Christ. On the
other hand, children are asked to obey their parents in the lord while the fathers were
asked to bring up their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. (Eph 6:13).
2. Civil Authority
In relating with the state, the bible instructs also that we should be submitted to
the authority of the state or sovereign as long he/she does not by his authority of the
word of God. Bible says,
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers, for there is no power but of God: the
powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the ordinance of
God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. (Romans 13:1-2).
The reasons why we should submit to the leader is because, God is the one who
establishes them and so any rebellion against the sovereign is directed towards God.
The bible says; For rulers are not a terror of good works, but to evil. Wilt thou then be
not afraid of the power? Do that which is good, and thou shall have praise of the same.
For he is a minister of God to thee for good, but if thou do that which is evil, be
afraid (Romans 13:1-2)
Paul admonishes further to pray for those in authority so that we may lead a quiet and
peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. (1Timothy 2:1-2)
3. Authority in the Church
God has set up government in the church. He lets us know how to relate with those
in position of authority in the body of Christ. Bible say;

57
Obey them that rule over you and submit yourself for they watch for your souls as
they that must give account, that they may do it with joy and not with grief, for this is
unprofitable for you. (Heb 13:17)
Every Christian is admonished to submit to the authority his/her local
assembly because those in authority are not ruling with their own abilities. It is the
power of God that established them where they are. Whoever resists them is resisting
the anointing and this is very dangerous. The bible says, it will not be profitable for.

58

CLASS 5B
CHRISTIAN SERVICE AND BEHAVIOUR
Service means ministration and worship to God. It means one who runs errand. We
are involved in divine service. We are called into spiritual service to the Lord (Romans
12:1-3). It is not what we do on Sundays or Wednesdays or when we go for prayer
meetings. Really, to serve God is much more than rendering service. It is really out
ENTIRE LIFE. It is a life of totally sold out and consecrated to the master. Everything
we do or are involved in should reflect worship to God. That is why Paul said to
present our body as living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, which is our
reasonable service.
A. The great commission
God has given every Christian a responsibility on earth (Matthew 28:18)
This is what is commonly referred to as the great commission. It is the commandment
given by the Lord to the whole body of believer. He said we should teach all nations the
gospel and get them baptized in his name. (Mark 16:15-16).
This is the mandate every Christian has received of the Lord. When God sent his
Spirit in earth, it was for this purpose that he sent him. (Acts 1:8) So the Holy Spirit
brought to us the power to render the spiritual service to the Lord.
B. The need for training
For every worth-while venture, there must be enough training, so as to achieve
maximum result. The same thing applies to the work that the Lord has committed
unto our hands. It is important to note that the great commission is a work, which
God has given not to Pastors, prophets, evangelists, etc alone; He gave it to everyone
who is a member of the body of Christ, so he therefore sets up a system whereby the

59
servants of God will be trained and thoroughly furnished to carry out this great work.
The bible says; And he gave some, apostles, and some prophets and some evangelist,
and some pastors and teachers for the PERFECTING OF THE SAINTS, for the edifying
of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of faith and of the knowledge of the
Son of God unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of
Christ. (Eph 4:11-13)
Gods plan is that every child of his gets involved in the work of the
ministry/service but he also made provision for the training of his children for this
work. From the bible, we see that practically all the men that used to achieve mighty
things were trained and cultured by the Lord. David passed through his training while
tending his fathers flock (1 Samuel 17:34-36). He was later to become the greatest
king of Israel. Moses on the other hand had to be trained for forty years before he
could do that which he was called to do (Exodus 1:3). The basic tool for training is the
word of God. The bible records in Timothy.
All scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine,
for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of
God may be perfect thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3:1617)
The Ministry of Reconciliation
God has appointed the church to be the deaconry through which the world gets
to Christ. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life, for no man goeth before the
father except by me.
When Jesus finished his earthly ministry, He told the church to continue from where
he stopped. Note the church is his body and so continuing the work also means that
Jesus is still doing his work. Paul said;
To wit, that God was in the Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not
imputing their trespasses unto them, and hath committed unto us the word of
reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did
beseech you by us, be ye reconciled to God (2 Corth 5:19-20).

60
So God was reconciling the world to himself through Christ Jesus. This day,
however, God is living in us and through us, is reconciling the world to himself. In the
epistle to Timothy, Paul admonished him to be consistent with the sharing of the
gospel (2 Timothy 4:2) and Solomon says in the book of proverbs that the one who gets
involved on the soul wining work is a wise man and Daniel says they will shine as the
stars of heaven (Provb 11:30, Daniel 12:3).
Ministry in the Church
When we talked about Christian service and ministry, we are making reference
to two different aspects of the ministry that deals with the evangelization of the world
and yet there is the one that deals with building up of the body of Christ. In other
words, it concentrates not on the world but on those who already are called out of the
world. Paul says;
But unto everyone of us is given according to the measure of the gift of Christ (Eph
4:7)
These are the gifts needed to building up the body of Christ. This also shows
that building the church is a team work. Every member of the church should be as
vitally involved in church building as he is in evangelizing the world. Paul said in
Ephesians;
But speaking the truth in love may grow up into him in all things, which is the
head, even Christ. From whom the whole body fully joined together and compacted by
that which every joint supplieth; according to the effectual working in the measure of
every part maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love (Eph 4:15-16).
The reason why God wants every part of the body to supply its measure for the
growth of the body, is because he himself designed the church in such a way that she
can only grow when the members make use of the gifts he has given to them. Paul
said; Now ye are the body of Christ and members in particular. And God hath set
some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that
the working of miracles, then gifts of healing, helps, governments, diversities of
tongues. 1 Corth 12:27-28.

CHRISTIAN SERVICE AND BEHAVIOUR

1. WHAT WOULD YOU DESCRIBE AS PROPER CONDUCT FOR THE

BELIEVER?
It is very important to conduct oneself in a manner befitting citizens of the
Kingdom of God. This means your behavior, manner of life must align with what God
says you are. [Phil 1:27, 3:17-20, 1 Cor 1:12, Eph 4:22, 1 Cor 10:31, Col 3:17,3:1-3]
2. WHAT CONSTITUTES A PROPER DRESSCODE IN THE LIGHT OF THE
SCRIPTURES?
When a person gets born again, the Holy Spirit becomes his guide and teacher. In
other words, he no longer acts according to his feelings but is led by an inward
witness. [Jon 14:26, Rom 8:14]. His spirit is alive to God, he knows what to wear to
glorify God because he is led of God.
Now the Bible says the law has been abolished-that is the law of ordinances and
decrees that prescribed dos and donts for the Children of Israel. We are not under the
law but under grace.[ Ephesians 2:15-16, Romans 6:14]. In 1 Corinthians 5:17-18,
Paul emphasizes on the heart or inward man, not the body. For man looketh on the
outward appearance , but God looketh on the heart[1 Samuel 16:7].
Some have said ladies should not wear trousers or come to church with their
hair uncovered. The Bible reference for the judgment is usually [Deut 22:5, 1 Cor 11:115, 1 Peter 3:3, 1 Timothy 2:9]

Deut 22:5 is the basis for stopping ladies from wearing trousers. What
pertaineth unto a manis not restricted to trousers. It could be underwear, shirt or
skirt. In fact the Bible records that during this time men wore skirts [Ps 133:2]. The
Bible could not have been referring to trousers because there were no trousers in
those days.

62

Today, there are men in some parts of the world who wear skirts. Right here in
Nigeria, the Urhobos, Itsekiris, and Benin (born again) still use ladies wrappers and
are not criticized by this same people. Again such people should look at verses 9-11
because the world would according to their judgment be guilty of those verses. Eph
2:15 tells us that the law has been abolished. So brother/sister, go ahead and wear
beautiful things, as you are led by the Spirit.
The covering of hair as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 11:1-6 is not supposed to be
controversial. Some believe that ladies who do not use scarf over their heads lack
authorithy over devils and the angels of God will not act when such speak. This is a
misconception. Our weapon and authority could not possibly be a mere scarf. The
Bible says the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but are mighty through God to
the pulling down of stronghold. (1 Cor 10:4). The name of Jesus is our only authority.
Firstly, it was in the Jewish tradition of those days for women to have their head
covered. Therefore, Paul was addressing issues that had to do with their tradition.
Secondly, if the head of the woman is the man then, this gives us a picture of
the married couple and not unmarried ladies. As the head, a man can decide to say to
his wife Honey, I want you to put on a hat to church.
Thirdly, Paul summarised all he was talking about in verse 5 For the hair is given to
her as a covering.
Paul was only referring to a womans inclination to her husband. For example,
he says a woman should not speak in public. It was because in those days, women
were regarded as second class citizens and hence relegated to the background, they
were not counted when census was done. If she did not understand or had a
suggestion when a meeting was on. She should ask her husband at home, not in
public foolishly, thereby putting her husband to shame.
Finally we have to realize that the old testament was a shadow of things [the new
testament] to come. We should not endeavor to live by it. In Eph 2:15, the law of
commandments contained in ordinances has been abolished. Col 2:15-20 speaks in

63
this direction. So let your adorning be the hidden man of the heart, that which is not
corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in Gods sight a
great price. [1 Peter 3:4]

3. RELATIONSHIP WITH CONSTITUTED AUTHORITY

God recognizes constituted authority. He expects us to obey authority as long as
they fall within the context of His word. He is a God of order [1 Corinthians 14:33].
The scriptures urge us to respect authority. For example, in the church God has
placed your pastor over you. You should be faithful to instructions given, not rendering
eye service but serving with a cheerful heart and doing all thing as unto the Lord.
[Eph 6:5-8, Rom 13:1-4, 1 Tim 2:1-13].

4. HOW SHOULD WE RELATE WITH ONE ANOTHER AS BELIEVERS?

WHAT ABOUT UNBELIEVERS?
As believers we are one body with one another. [1 cor 12:12-27]. We are one in
Christ. Christ is our role model and so we must relate to one another, the way Christ
did or would with us. Never opposing one another or acting for personal gain but in
love according to the dictates of Gods word. [Phil 2:3, Heb 13:1-2, Rom 13:7-13, 1 Cor
6:1-8].
A believer ought to walk in wisdom towards unbelievers and also in love. Do not
despise them, reach out to them with the gospel. It is Gods desire for them to come to
the knowledge of the truth and be saved [1 Timothy 2:4]. However, a believer should
not walk in the counsel of the ungodly nor be conformed to their systems and
lifestyles. [Psalm 1:1; Rom 12:2; 1 Cor 4:4]. We have a different citizenship, our
citizenship is from heaven [Phil 3:20, Eph 2:19].
5. WHY REJOICE AND GIVE THANKS WHEN ALL HOPE SEEMS LOST?
As a believer, you have been born into victory with Christ. Nothing is strong enough
to make you give up or lose in life. It doesnt matter the kind of temptation, tribulation,
oppositions, persecution, problems, circumstances, God is big enough to make a way

64
where there is no way. Knowing this, you rejoice always because any barrier or
hindrance before you is only a lie. [James 1: 2-4, Rom 5: 3-5, 4: 18-21, Ex 20:19-22,
Acts 16: 24-26, Phil 4:4].
Rejoice and gave thanks in the face of any difficulty because you already know the
end of any challenge you are facing. You are the victor, you are more than a conqueror,
and you have gained the mastery over any devil. As you rejoice, giving thanks, not FOR
the situation but IN the situation, the devil becomes ashamed and is disarmed over
you.
6. WHAT SHOULD BE THE CHRISTIANS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE MEDIA?
The media is the main means of communicating with the large number of people,
especially the Television, Radio and Newspapers. We receive through the media all
sorts of information, usually negative report. A Christian must be careful about the
information he absorbs from these channels, measuring all things by the word of God.
However, the media can be converted into an advantage if people reach out for the
right information. For example, it is the only way thousands of people can be reached
with the gospel of our Lord Jesus at the same time. [Phil 4:8, 1 Tim 2:15, Eph 2: 2-5,
1 Cor 4:4, 1 Thess 5:21]
7. YOUR LIFE HANGS ON THE STRINGS OF YOUR THOUGHTS
PLEASE EXPLAIN!
You are a product of your thoughts. [What dominates your mind most of the time?]
What comes to your mind? Thoughts of failure, weakness, sickness, disease,
loneliness, rejection, poverty, or success, life, victory, triumph, or prosperity. Whatever
you think about most of the time is what you become. Your thoughts mould your
future. What you thought about yesterday is what you are today, and what youll dwell
upon today is what youll become tomorrow. This is not just positive thinking, this is
having the mind of Christ, thinking according to His word. [Prov 23:7, Lk 6:45, 1 Cor
13:5, Rom 12: 1-2, Phil 4:8].

65
8. HOW CAN I HAVE MORE BY GIVING OUT OF THE LITTLE I HAVE?
Giving and receiving or sowing and reaping is a law that will not cease as long as
the earth remains. If you have a need you must sow a seed. Giving is a lifestyle that
befits a believer but most importantly the only way a believer can get. Never say you
dont have to give. Release what you have by faith and youll surely get more because
acting on Gods word creates the right environment for the manifestation of your
miracle. God is a giver and giving is His only principle to receiving. [Gen 8:22, Lk 6:38,
Eccl 11:1, 1 Cor 9:7]
In the house of God, there are three main types of giving you should know about.
1. Tithes
2. Offerings
3. Pledges and vows
TITHING
Tithing is giving a tenth part of everything you get to God. Today, it is
conveniently given in cash. In Gen 14:18-20, Abraham gave Melchizedek, King of
Salem, tithes because Melchizedek was a priest of God. In Malachi 3: 8-10, the Bible
says, Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed me. But you say wherein have we
robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse that
there may be meat in my house, and prove me herewith, saith the Lord of Host, if I will
not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall be
no room enough to receive it.
We have a covenant relationship with God. The tenth of our income belong to God and
the ninth part is yours. Tithing is a command from God and it also gives you a
comprehensive insurance against any attack from Satan. Read verse 11-12 for
yourself. Whenever you get money or earnings the first thing you do is pay your tithes.
Do not use part of the money before subtracting your tithe. It is disobedience to Gods
word.
OFFERINGS

66
Offerings here do not just refer to freewill offerings that you give on service days
or in your cells. There are special kinds of offerings. This can be given for any specific
thing for the furtherance of the gospel. It covers all that would be needed for effective
ministry. There is also what we call seed offering. A farmer can never forget to put
aside some seeds for the next planting season. Similarly you can set aside a seed
offering with respect to your job, family etc.
PLEDGES AND VOWS
Pledges and vows are made to affirm that what God says, you have faith that He
will do it. It means that you accept Gods part of the covenant. In Genesis 28: 20-22,
Jacob vowed a vow. It is a wise investment to make pledges and vows. You give in faith
believing that you would receive a multiplied harvest [Lk 6:8].
So pray over your offerings, tithes, pledges and vows. Pray with faith and love [Prov
11:24]. This is the principle of sowing and reaping.
Finally, giving is a token, an establishment of the fact that God is your partner,
and your business will not run down when God is your partner. The Holy Spirit is our
Teacher and Helper. He will always teach you and give you creative ideas to keep your
job or business booming.

67

CLASS 6A
THE BODY OF CHRIST

The church is Gods peculiar treasure. The word of God declares in psalms 16:3
But to the saints that are in the earth and to the excellent in who is all my delight.
The church is Gods delight. The NKJV reads and to the excellent ones. Its to belong
to the church (i.e. the body of Christ)
WHAT IS THE UNIVERSAL CHURCH AND HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER
Its very important that you get to understand what the universal church is and
also to know how one becomes a member.
It must be understood that the church is one. The universal church therefore
comprises every member of the body of Christ in the whole world around. This is the
whole family of God that meets in every part of the world. To become a member of the
universal church (or church precisely), one has to be born again. This is the only prerequite for becoming a member of the church. To be born again is to appreciate for
yourself the salvation that Jesus brings. All you have to do is act on the word of God
as it is in Romans 10:9-10; That if thou shalth confess with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be
saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth
confession is made unto salvation.

68
By reason of these proclamation, or declaration, one is baptized into the body of
Christ through the instrumentality of the Holy Spirit. This is being born again (i.e.
Holy Ghost baptism).
1 Corth 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body
PURPOSE OF THE CHURCH
Primarily, the purpose of the church can be seen to be three fold;

Firstly, to glorify God.

Secondly, to witness to the world.
Thirdly, to build up the church.

TO GLORIFY GOD Eph 1:9-12; Eph 3:20-21

Gods purpose is for the church to glorify Him and to show forth his glory (i.e.
His Excellency, His Perfection). Eph 3:21 Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ
Jesus throughout all ages, world without end Amen
TO WITNESS TO THE WORLD
Apart from glorifying God, the church should also be involved in witnessing to
the world of our Lord Jesus Christ. This talks about soul wining, and it is Gods
number one job. Its Gods heartthrob. Every Christian should make soul wining a
priority. Involvement with witnessing is not negotiable both singularly and corporately,
the church should evangelize and disciple the world for Jesus. See Matthew 28:18-20,
Acts 1:8, 2 Corth 5:17, Mark 16:15-16.
TO BUILD THE CHURCH
Every member of the church has the responsibility of contributing to the
building or edification of the church. The things that we learn as we are taught by the
ministry gift (i.e. Pastors, Prophets, Evangelists, Teachers, Apostles) and the Holy
Spirit we should use also to teach others and bring them up in the faith. As
Christians, we should take up or appropriate responsibility viz. Soul wining and soul
development. It is not enough to witness to somebody of Jesus but adequate follow-up
should be mounted to win and develop him to the level that he becomes involved too in
wining and developing others. See Eph 4:11-16.

69
WHY DO WE NEED THE LOCAL ASSEMLIES
Every child of God expected to have regular fellowship with the brethren. Paul
in Heb 10:25 admonish the church. Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves
together as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another and so much the more,
as ye see the day approaching.
Local assemblies are place where Christians come together to pray, worship,
hear Gods word and be built up on Gods word and also where others can come and
hear Gods word and get saved by acting on the word. Examples of local assemblies are
Christ Embassy, Redeemed Evangelical Mission, Four Square gospel mission etc.
It is important therefore that we have the local assemblies because it enhances
fellowship and causes every member to contribute his or her own part to the work of
the ministry. Also, unity of the brethren is adequately enhanced, see 1 Corth 12:2126. Secondly, local assemblies enable members to identify what office or role they can
perform (Romans 12:4:5)
UPON THIS ROCK I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH IS THE ROCK PETER?
As you take a close look at Matthew 16:13-19, you will discover that many
people have erroneously interpreted Jesus statement or words to mean that Peter is
the rock. We must get it right and this can only come as we take this in context. You
see, after Peter answered that, Thou art the Christ the Son of the living God and
Jesus acknowledged his answer by saying flesh and blood hath not revealed it to you
but His father which is in heaven.
He went further to tell Peter that upon this rock I will build my church. This
means the Christ. So we find that Jesus Christ is the rock upon which the church is
built. Other scriptures reveals this clearly 1 Corth 3:11; For other foundation can no
man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Also see Eph 5:23-25; Eph 2:18-20,
1 Peter 2:4-7.
EVERYONE SHOULD BELONG TO A CHURCH
It is very important that every Christian belongs to a church (i.e. Local
assembly). We had seen in Hebrew 10:25 that the Apostle Paul admonished that we

70
should not forsake the gathering of ourselves together as is the manner of some is. We
should not make ourselves church supervisors, going from one church to another
under the pretext that God spoke to us, for there is no such thing as that. We should
be committed to a local assembly. The only time God will speak to you to leave a
church for another church is when His word is not taught there. (i.e. not having sound
doctrine). He would now (by the Holy Spirit) direct you to a proper place. See Acts
2:42, Heb 2:13. Also going from church to church would not allow you to be built up.
It rather helps to raise questions and suspicion.
WHO BUILD THE CHURCH?
When the Lord shall build up Zion, then He will come in His glory.
We have seen that Jesus is the rock upon which the church is, Matthew 16:18. Jesus
therefore is the builder of the church. He is the head Church, Eph 5:23. He is the
author and the finisher (or perfecter) of our faith, Hebrews 12:2.
Also, every member of the church is equally building the church. In Eph 4:1216, youll find that the reason for which Jesus gave the ministry gift is for equipping
and perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the building up (edifying)
of the body Christ (i.e. the church).
This therefore makes us partners with deity. God is building His church through us.
The word of God declares that we are Gods workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto
good works Eph 2:10. Importantly also, we find in 1 Corth 3:9-10
For we are laborers together with God: ye are Gods building. According to the
grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder. I have laid the
foundation and another buildeth there on. But let everyman take heed how he
buildeth there upon.
WHY DO I GO TO CHURCH?
Hebrews 10:25
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but
exhorting one another; and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

71
Its the custom of Jesus to go the temple, same also with the disciples. They are
our examples. We should follow after them. Also it is important that we go to Church
to be built up in Gods word and to be equipped so that we can build others up too.
Finally, we go to church to worship God, to pour our heart out to him, to praise
and glorify Him.

CLASS 6B
Believers LoveWorld

72
Last week, we dealt with the body of Christ and the need for every individual
Christian to be a vital member of a local assembly. This week we shall be dealing with
our ministry and church. That is believers LoveWorld Inc. and Christ Embassy.
1. Our Name
This Ministry is known as Believers LoveWord Inc. it has several arms, for example,
the ministry has churches and chapters on campuses. The churches are known and
Christ Embassy, while the Chapters on campuses are known as Believers LoveWord
Fellowships. The ministry also operates churches known as Christ Embassy Satellite
Churches. They are not autonomous but are part of the main Church form where they
were pioneered. Their pastors are called lay pastor because while they pastor, they also
work.
Our churches (Christ Embassy) are pastored by full-time pastor ordained and
recognized by and in the ministry.
The Believers LoveWorld fellowships are led by pastors and coordinations who are
anointed for the period they pastor the fellowships. They are recognized as leader in
the ministry.
THE CELL SYSTEM
The cell system is a system, which creates an avenue for soul wining and
development. It gives every individual in the ministry an opportunity to be vitally
involved and be part of what God is doing. The cell system is also designed to
encourage fellowship amongst brethren, which is necessary for the nurturing and
development of their faith. The cell system is organized in such a way that it makes for
easy monitoring and co-ordination.
The cell unit (groups) as they are called is a meeting of 2, 3 or more people as
the case may be. They meet together weekly, share the word of God together, win other
people like themselves and add to the body of Christ. They are meant to know each
others addresses (home work) and to be closely knit together as brothers and sisters.
They care for one another and are concerned about one another. The cell is expected to
grow, that is increase spiritually and numerically. However, the cell does not exist on

73
its own. It operates under a larger body called Pastoral Care Fellowship (PCF). There
are various PCFs here in our church and these PCFs consists of Pastoral Care Units
(PCUs) which usually automatically emerges from three (3) existing cells, which have
developed from a single cell, with the original leader becoming the PCU leader. The cell
is structured in such a way to suit the individuals vocational, residential, and age
groupings. The cell system creates a lot of room for individual growth. Every member
of the ministry can aspire to be a cell leader and indeed a PCF leader.
LOVEWORLD MINISTERIAL COLLEDGE
This is the BLW school of ministry where member are further equipped for the
work of the ministry. The college offers courses ranging from General knowledge of the
Bible to Pastoral ministry courses. It also offers administrative courses.
The programme usually runs for a year and the college organizes graduation
ceremony annually for her students. The school has three departments. They are:
1. Pastoral ministry department- BMS
2. Department of Lay ministry
3. Diploma in ministry
Also the college offers a correspondence course whereby youre given the necessary
assistance for a rich Bible study life, regardless of your tight schedule (LCBC).
MINISTRY PROGRAMMES
a) CAMP MEETING- Camp meeting is an annual meeting where every member of
BLW( churches and campus fellowships) home and abroad, come together to
hear God speak to them. This is a very important meeting for us in this
ministry as no member is allowed to miss it. It is a major meeting and every
member of the ministry is expected to make plans ahead of time.
The president and other CEC, minister as God gives us direction for our
individual lives and the ministry as a whole. Camp meeting usually comes up
during the Easter period.
b) TOTAL EXPERIENCE
Total Experience is a very important programme in this ministry. It ia s bimonthly programme where the sick are healed and the lost are saved.

74
It usually holds at the National Stadium in lagos and other cities where we have
Christ Embassy churches. Total Experience is an outreach programme.

The Believers Loveworld Statement Of Faith

CLASS 9
GODS FINANCIAL PLAN
OUTLINE
1. What is covenant?
2. The Abrahamic covenant with God
3. The New Creation: A covenant God
4. The blessing of our covenant partnership
5. Prosperity, Gods will, why and how?
6. Tithing
7. Partnership (financial)
PURPOSE

To emphasize that in covenant, there is a participation of the parties

involved in the fulfillment of the agreement.

The unconditional of the covenant and the blessing of that covenant.

To point that in truth we are in covenant relationship with God.

To examine the benefits of this covenant union.

To show that it is Gods will for His children to prosper, His motive for
prospering them i.e. prosperity is not just to live good, and how He
prospers His own.

To show that it is an eternal principle this was installed with God as the
originator and centre of focus.

A way God can increase you and exercise of the purpose of prosperity.

80
Luke 4:18,The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to
preach the gospel of the poor; He hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to
preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind , to set at
liberty them that are bruised

3 John 2,Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in
health, even as thy soul prospereth

The greatest weapon of the devil today is to rob a believer of the knowledge of
Gods financial plan and programme for his life .For a number of years, religion
has made us believe that prosperity is not a spiritual topic or thing, and that
God is only interested in the spiritual area of our lives. In our first introductory
scripture above, Jesus clearly outlined what God anointed Him for; it was to
preach the gospel (Good news) to the poor and 3John 2 says God desires for us
to prosper. In this class, we examine the subject, Gods financial plan. Now
you can begin to participate in his financial programme for your life.

Himself remembers it. Gen 31:13, Eccle 5:4-6.
They are to be made in addition to other forms of offering, Num 29:39.
God rewards vows through men. Luke 6:38. Giving vows and pledges causes his
love to abound towards you because the Bible says God loves a cheerful giver.
They are given sacrificially, 2 Cor 8:1-5.
Certain things are forbidden to be offered as vows. Deut 23:21-23, Job 22, 27,

CLASS 11
FOLLOWERSHIP, LEADERSHIP AND DISCIPLESHIP

FOLLOWERSHIP

You will not be a good leader if you have not been/not a good follower. You will
move forward and succeed if you follow closely those who God has set over you

86
as leaders. Every good teacher and leader was once and still is a good follower
(since he or she has to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit). You do not make
decisions without putting them into considerations. Learn to ask yourself these
questions:
-

How would Jesus have done it if He were here?

How Paul, Peter and John would have done it?

How my pastor would have done it? 1 Cor 4:16, 11:1, Phil 3:17, Heb 6:12

LEADERSHIP AND DISCIPLESHIP

1. Definition of leadership: its a call to service; it is causing people to take
effective action towards a described goal.
A look at components of our leadership definition

Causing: suggests making things happen

People: it suggests followership

Effective action: Actions must be result oriented

Desired goals: there is a direction

2. Examine Exodus 13:21 (Model Leadership)

Went before: suggests being ahead

Led them the way; there is a specific course in leadership.

Pillar of cloud: direction

Pillar of fire, night: being able to offer direction in dark times.

Developing Leadership: Acts 20:28

As a leader you are instructed by the Holy Spirit to take heed to yourself first.
Ways of developing Leadership:

Exposing yourself to Gods Word: tapes, videos and audio, books.

Prayers Jude 20

87

Fellowshipping with success through tapes, video, or books. Acquainting

oneself with great Christian Leaders (the working of the spirit of God in their
lives)
Since the essence of leadership is following, we will talk on discipleship. A
disciple is a leader, follower or trainee. As a leader, people are placed under you.
God expects you to disciple your members, He can only count on the
disciplined.

Ways on disciplining your members

Telling: Mark 34

Modeling (to discipline with practical examples) Luke 9:1-6, Luke 10:1

Giving out responsibility Luke 9:1-6, Luke 10:1.

A leader who does the work alone will soon wear out. Thus it is important to
have disciplined and not mere members.

Ways of developing followership

Staying ahead: being inspired all the time.

Taking genuine interest in your members.

Investing Gods word into their lives.

Through prayers.

(Suggest some more)Suggest points on attitude as a Christian leader should

possess with scriptural support.
