Understanding PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 Entity

Relationship Diagrams
An entity-relationship diagram (ERD) is a data modeling technique that creates a graphical representation
of the entities, and the relationships between entities, within an information system. PeopleSoft data
models are represented in the form of entity relationship diagrams.
An entity is any person or thing, real or abstract, about which information is stored. Relationships
represent the business rules between entity types. A relationship shows cardinality and options in both
directions and can be with either one entity or several.
HCM 9.2 ERDs show all of the tables in the PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 database and the relationships between
them. This information can be useful in identifying the relationships and dependencies between various
components of the HCM system and can help you understand the HCM application.
For more information about ERDs, search My Oracle Support for the What is an ERD document. .

Installing the Entity Relationship Diagrams

The ERD is delivered as a project containing:

The ERD project and instructions for installing the project are available to customers upon request.

Accessing the Entity Relationship Diagrams

PeopleSoft provides ERDs for most of the components in the system. There are a few components based
on Work Records for which no ERDs are available.
To access a component-level ERD in your demo database, do the following:
1. Log on to the portal.

HCCPHR9100. You must log on as someone with this permission list.
2. In the menu, select Data Models.
3. Navigate through the menus to the component for which you want to view an ERD.
Note. When you select the ERD menu item at the component level, the system opens a separate window
and launches the ERD as a PDF file using Adobe Acrobat Reader. To access ERDs, you must have
Adobe Acrobat Reader installed.
