A majority (23%) of the children in conflict with the law were 12 years of age at the time of the
alleged commission of the oence. This age group was followed by children who were 13 (20%), 17

(20%), 16 (17%), 14 (10%) and 11 (7%) years of age at the time of alleged commission. Only one child in
conflict with the law aged fifteen (3%) was covered by the research.

Of the 30 children in conflict with law, Elementary Undergraduate CICL (11 or 37%) is the
highest percentage of the respondents with respect to educational attainment. It is followed by the
Elementary Graduate (7 or 23%), Highschool Graduate (7 or 23%) and College Undergraduate (3 or
10%). Highschool Undergraduate (2 or 7%) is the lowest percentage of the respondents with respect to
educational attainment.

More than half of the CICL (67%) have parents married and still living together, while almost
one-fifth (17%) have parents who were married but were already separated. Remaining CICL have
parents who were not married and not living together (10%), married but the father is deceased (3%) and
not married but living together (3%).

With respect to the 30 children in conflict with the law responded for the research, more than half
of the respondents (60%) were living with both of their parents and almost one-seventh responded that
they were living with their mother only (14%) and father only (13%). Others were living with their
relatives (7%), living with their mother and stepfather (3%) and living with their non-relatives (3%).

Out of the 30 children in conflict with the law, 26 CICL responded that their mothers either have
an occupations or not. More than half (56%) of the respondents have mothers who were not employed,
while more than one-seventh (15%) have mothers who worked as laundry woman. Others were vendors
(11%), housekeepers/housemaids (7%), others (7%; i.e. farmer, librarian, among others) and overseas
Filipino workers (4%).

Out of the 30 children in conflict with the law, 29 CICL responded that their fathers either have
an occupations or not. Almost one-fourth (24%) have fathers whose occupations were overseas Filipino
worker, trash collector, fisherman, salesman and construction-related work, while more than one-sixth
(17%) of the respondents have fathers whose occupations were drivers and whose fathers were

unemployed or no work at all. Others responded that their fathers were government employees (7%),
engaged in business (4%), farmers (4%) and Mechanic/Technician/Electrician (3%).

Membership in gangs is not usually recorded in the childrens les unless it is a factor in
the commission of the oence, ie, the oence was committed by gang members or an identied
group. 26 (87%) out of 30 children in conflict with the law responded that they were not a
member of any gangs, while 4 (13%) confirmed that they were a member of a certain gang.

Out of 30 children in conflict with the law, 4 affirmed that they were members of a certain gang.
Almost all of the respondents (75%) averred that they were a member but declined to answer the name of
their gang, while one respondent (25%) averred his membership and stated the name of the gang his in to.

Out of 30 children in conflict with the law responded on the research, 29 were in-school while 1
respondent was out-of-school. More than half (20 or 69%) were enrolled in public school, while almost
one-third (9 or 31%) were enrolled in private school. Most of the CICL enrolled in private school were in
non-sectarian institution.

More than half (67%) of the respondents spent their time visiting media like games (e.i. Counter
Strike, DOTA, among others) for entertainment or pass time, while more than one-sixth (17%) visited or
viewed Facebook. Others spent their time watching pornographic sites (13%) and movies (3%).

Of the crimes charges against children in conflict with the law, more than half (16 or 54%) of the
respondents were charged crime against property. Almost one-fourth (7 or 23%) were charged crime

against special laws, while others were charged with drug-related offenses (4 or 13%), crimes against
security (2 or 7%) and against ordinance (1 or 3%).

With respect to the crimes against property, theft/snatching/shoplifting (30%) obtained the highest
percentage of the alleged crime committed, followed by damage of property (20%) and malicious
mischief/vandalism (4%). Drinking along sidewalk (3%) was recorded of one of the respondents as an
offense against ordinance. Out of the 30 respondents, 7 CICL were charged offenses against special laws
such as gambling (20%) and driving without license (3%). 2 cases recorded of crimes against security;
trespassing (3%) and unjust vexation (3%). While drug-related offenses, i.e. possession and/or drug-used
covered 14% of the total respondents.
