Introduction:

Paris is the capital and biggest city of France, located on the banks of the Seine
River in the northern center of the country. With an estimated population of
about 11 million inhabitants, it dominates the economy and political and cultural
life of France. Paris is considered the capital of the arts, making it one of the
most beautiful cities in the world. And this is due mainly to its magnificent
cultural heritage. Paris is a monumental city, with its architecture, museums,
libraries and theaters that transport us in time and space. This city is also
known as the city of light, as the French capital was the first that doled out the
electricity to the streets. On the other hand, it is often called the city of love,
because of the charm and romance that feels to walk the streets. Furthermore,
it is known as the city of fashion, that began to be considered in this way since
Louis XIV, during his reign in the eighteenth century, he hired the best couturiers
of that time to make the designs of their flashy clothing. This was how that
fashion was copied slowly, and every city always expected the new models
would be shown first in Paris. So now the capital of France is what keeps the
rest of the world informed of the ultimate in fashion trends. Generalizing, so
amazing is Paris that visitors dont want to leave it.

History:
CENTURY XVIII: FASHION IS IMPOSED BY VERSAILLES
Parisian fashion eighteenth century experienced
great changes and female costume dress was
altered by the French dresses (with pleated
back) and the English dresses, who emphasized
the waist. Many of the changes were transmitted
by Marie Antoinette, wife of Louis XVI, her
dresses triggered fuss because they were very
extravagant for the time. Under no circumstance
did people of those time wear this kind of
clothes, but little by little they settled for those
with enthusiasm. But big changes would not
have been possible without the appearance a
new figure: the couturier or dressmaker who
dressed the whole French court and many
foreign aristocrats. So influenced was the world by French fashion that a lot of
people used to say that "fashion is to France what the mines of Peru are for
Spain".

In the nineteenth century, Napoleon I freed

women from the frames and doled out
fashion a much lighter tone, but this period
was very short, about ten years. When
Napoleon was defeated, the Old Regime was
stabilized, clothing changed to a kind of
uniform that permited to know the class of
each person. Wasp waist imposed, balloon
sleeves, corsets. In 1850, haute couture was
born with Charles Frederick Worth, English
set up in Paris. Also appeared the first labels
on clothing.
TWENTIETH CENTURY: THE DEMOCRATIZATION OF FASHION
The twentieth century began with the silhouette in S, Paul
Poiret freed women of the corset. During the war a radical
change occurred, it was necessary for women to work being
the breadwinners and to facilitate their jobs was
indispensable dismantling their clothes. After the war, the
whole system changed radically, with the workshop of
Christian Dior, born contemporary fashion. Also series
production emerged and appeared new forms of
distribution: department stores.
2000 2016: THE DESIGNER BECOMES ART DIRECTOR
Because a lot of people snatch up flashy things, the main
groups of luxury and haute couture have been consolidated.
The role of artistic director supplants the designer. The Vintage
trend becomes more visible on the red carpet ceremonies; a
new generation of cabinets and shoes revives the tradition of
dressing.
