(b) EFGH is the image of ABCD under the combined transformation WV. Describe in full the transformation:
(a) V,
(b) W.
(C) PQRS is the image of EFGH under an enlargement.
(i) State the centre and the scale factor of the enlargement.
(ii) It is given that ABCD represents a region of area 14.5 m 2. Calculate the area, in m 2, of the region
represented by PQRS.

(b) Another solid right prism is joined to the solid in (a) at the vertical
plane DCHE. The composite solid is shown in diagram below.
Pentagon QPNMR is the uniform cross-section of the prism. The
base ABCSRQD lies on a horizontal plane. The edge RM and QP
are vertical. MN = QD = 2 cm and PQ = 6 cm. Draw to full scale,
(i) the elevation of the composite solid on a vertical plane parallel
to RQ as viewed from X,
(ii) the elevation of the composite solid on a vertical plane parallel
to AB as viewed from Y.
16. P(50oN, 120oE), Q, R, M and V are three points on the surface of the earth. PQ is the diameter of the earth. R
lies 2100 nautical miles along the common parallel of latitude, due West of P.
(a) State the location of Q.
(b) Find the longitude of R.
(b) PQM is the diameter of the parallel of latitude 50oN. Calculate the shortest distance, in nautical mile, from
P to M measured along the surface of the earth.
(c) An aeroplane took off from P and flew due west to R along the common parallel of latitude. Then flew due
south to V which lies due east of Q. It is given that the average speed of the whole flight is 560 knots.
Calculate the total time taken for the whole flight.
