Each DCIS student must attend two special events each semester. The special events are intended to deepen your knowledge of
international affairs and cultures and to provide contact with international activities and organizations outside of school. You may
use the following questions as guidelines as you write a solid paragraph below describing how this Special Event connects to
specific outcomes in the four Global Leadership domains:
How did you identify this opportunity to participate in this Special Event (did someone recruit you to go, did you find out
about it yourself, was it part of a club, was it a school-sponsored event that was not part of a class, etc.)?
In which of the four domains of Global Leadership (Investigate the World, Recognize Perspectives, Communicate Ideas,
or Take Action) does this event best fit?
Choose 2 specific outcomes under that Global Leadership domain and provide evidence of your learning related to each
outcome.
Description of how this special event connects to outcomes in the Global Leadership Domains:
I attend the marade every year. Ive attended the marade every year for as long as I can remember. This
connects to Take Action because the marade is usually used as a recognition of Martin Luther Kings life and a
political statement. This connects to Take Action because participants are using the rally to spread awareness
about issues in the Black community. This event connects to Take Action because we identified collaborators
(NGOS, nonprofits, etc) across disciplines and industries and create opportunities for individual or collaborative
action to improve human rights and racism culture. We also acted in creative and responsible ways to
collaborate to improvement on issues of race locally. Every year it is a bit different.
