Learning Objective(s):
Students will be aware of right and wrong behaviors when used in a classroom
Students will be able to identify bullying
Students will be able to understand ways to prevent bullying

SMART goal:
By the end of the lesson, all of the 7th grade students will be able to identify one way they
can prevent bullying in the school.
Materials:
PowerPoint
Notebook
Pen or pencil
Markers, poster boards and tape (will be provided for students)

Procedure (should be specific and have a timeline):


11:00 to 11:10- Explain to the students what the lesson will be about and what the learning
objectives are. After the learning objectives are explained, both quizzes will be handed out
and to be filled in anonymously. When students are finish, they are to flip the quizzes over
and wait for it to be collected.
11:10 to 11:20- Students will be shown a PowerPoint that goes over what different types of
bullying that occurs in and out or school, what is describes as right and wrong behavior in
the classroom, ways on how to prevent bullying before it occurs, how to stand up to a bully,
and how to support peers who have been bullied.
11:20 to 11:25-Students will be split into groups of 6 while the markers and poster boards
are being handed out and the directions are being said.
11:25 to 11:40: For the rest of the class students will be put into groups to discuss what they
have learned during the lesson. Each group will then be giving a poster board title Ways To
Prevent Bullying which they will write different ways they could prevent bullying in the class
or school. When they are finished, students will hand the poster board to their teacher or
counselor, which will be hung up in the hall way when the lesson is over.

Process Data:
This lesson will be done at Wyoming Valley Middle School to the whole 7 th grade class, which
is 130 students. This will be a 40 minute lesson taught by the school counselor with the
assistance of the teacher.

Perception Data:
At the beginning of the lesson, students will take two quizzes to help them understand what
it is meant to be bullied and what it is meant to be a bully. By the end of the class they will
use their knowledge to work on a small group project and come up with ways on how to
prevent bullying.
After the lesson, students will be able to understand truly what it means to be bullied.
Students will be able to identify ways to prevent bulling in the classroom.

Outcome Data:
100% of the students will understand what it is meant to be bullied.
95% of the students will be able to identify 2 or more ways to help prevent bullying.

Follow Up:
A week later, students will be handed a survey rating from 1 to 5 (1 being never and 5 being
frequently) from some of the same questions that were on the quizzes they took last week.
Example question: In the past week, did you make fun or tease others.
