Interim Director of Worldwide Customer Care December 2003 – March 2004


In December 2003 Plumtree entered a Customer Care failure, where a combination of low morale, poor leadership,
and prevalent product quality issues led to a customer confidence crisis. Worldwide Customer Care was transferred
into Engineering.
 Took over direct management of Customer Care,
 Restructured team and established new mission, and
 Hired new management team, including current VP of Worldwide Customer Care.
In the subsequent year our at-risk-customer-list dropped from 30 to 0, with record customer satisfaction ratings.
Interim Office of the Vice President of Engineering August – September 2003
In late 2003 the VP of Engineering took a new position in the company. I was appointed interim office of VP
reporting to the CEO, including the following activities: ran meetings with other engineering directors to establish
operating plans and resolve issues in the 130 person engineering department, reported weekly to CEO on strategy,
tactical concerns, and engineering progress, resolved interim organizational issues, and ran interview process for
replacement VP of Engineering.

Responsibilities expand to include Technical Publications 2003


In the summer of 2003 Plumtree released the 5.0 major release of Plumtree’s product line, with an incomplete and
inaccurate set of documentation. I was given control of Technical Publications, with activities including hiring new
management and talent, re-establishing customer confidence through conference calls, webinars, and customer
visits to key accounts, and fixing the documentation gap and customer perception gap by the end of 2003.

Director of Integration Products and Development Tools 2001


 Led several development teams to build Plumtree integration products including
o SAP, Siebel, and PeopleSoft Frameworks
o Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes, and Documentum portlets and crawlers
o Microsoft Excel Framework
 Led developer tools development team to build development kits
 Created developer ecosystem through online labs and active discussion forums

Director of Solution Center 2000


Built a new engineering organization under Business Development to help partners and customers apply technology
to business problems. Group included Development, Quality Assurance, Technical Publications, Program
Management and Product Management functions.

The Solution Center created a new marketplace for portlets, the building blocks of portals, materially differentiating
Plumtree products in Sales situations, and defining success criteria that competitors such as IBM and Microsoft
followed for 3 years. Attach rates for top selling portlets reached 70% of the install base.

Manager of Quality Assurance 1998 – 2000


Built QA team, established QA processes and procedures, released the first 3 major versions of the product line that
established Plumtree as a software vendor.
