1. Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions given below by choosing

Villa was a dog tamed by Dick. One day he went out with his dog but returned quickly as the
wind was violent. The older dogs curled up, but Villa was too energetic to lie down. She wanted
to go into the open and so she ran out through the next door. Andrea and her sisters were playing
in front of their house. The sisters went inside because the snow fall was heavy and Andrea was
alone. The wind pushed her away and she fell into a pit full of loose snow. She tried to come out
and began crying for help. Villa heard her cries and ran into the direction of the cries. Villa
ploughed into the snow and stuck her head towards the girl. The girl put her hands around the
girls neck. Villa slowly backed away dragging Andrea from the pit, bit by bit. The dog pulled the
girl into an open area.

When Mr. Jones went to a restaurant one day, he left his coat near the door. There was
nothing in the pockets of the coat when he left it, so he was very surprised when he took his
coat after his meal and found the pocket full of jewellery!
There was a waiter near the door, so Mr. Jones said to him Somebody has made a
mistake. He has put some jewellery in my pocket. Take it, and when he comes back, give it to
him. The waiter took it and went away. Suddenly another man came in with a coat just like
Mr. Jones. I am sorry, said the man. I made a mistake. I took your coat and you took mine.
Please give me my coat and jewellery. Mr. Jones answered, I gave the jewellery to the
waiter. He will give it to you.
Mr. Jones called the manager of the restaurant; but the manager said, We have no waiters
here. We have only waitresses. You gave the jewellery to the thief! shouted the other man. I
shall send for the police! Mr. Jones was afraid and paid the man a lot of money for the
jewellery.

4. Anjali Mehta is the school Pupil Leader of Nina Public School. On 26th November, she
attended a meeting with Principal and Senior Teachers at which it was decided that the school
discipline needed improvement. It was also decided that House Captains should allocate special
duties to prefects and monitors to ensure this.
Later she wrote a notice for the Students Notice Board asking House Captains and Vice
Captains to attend a meeting to discuss implementing this proposal. Write this notice in not
more than 50 words. Put the notice in a box. (5 m)

5. Imagine that your grandmother completed 80 years on November 16th 2014. Celebrating her
80th birthday was a great event for the entire family. Now describe the event in about 80-100
words. (5 m)

6. Write a letter to your cousin inviting him to come and spend the winter break with you. You are
Rohan and you live at 24, Mall Road, Shimla. (100-120 words) (7 m)

7. Read the outlines given below. Write it in full using these outlines and your own ideas in about
150 words, and also assign a suitable title to it. (8 m)
