Healthy Diet: More than just eating right

(An Essay for Philippine Nutrition Month 2017)

Healthy diet is more than just less or more, it is having a balanced


and right eating and living
A healthy diet is usually known as one who can lessen weight in
just weeks or days, or just eating lots of vegetables. On the contrary, a
healthy diet is a diet which can satisfy ones daily nutrient and energy
needs by eating balanced proportions of different kinds of food while
only consuming moderate amounts of fat, sugars, and oils. It is also
assuring that you can consume it clean, affordable and accessible to
you.
Despite being defined as the right consumption of food and
drinks, diets etymology can be traced back to the Greek word diaita
which means manner of living. So, diet is also living a healthy and
balanced lifestyle; which can be achieved by being active through
exercise, avoiding bad habits, having enough rest, and by regularly
monitoring your physical wellness and progress.
Having a healthy lifestyle helps us to prevent deadly diseases,
reduce food wastes, and improves the quality of economy and
environment. It also helps us lessen stress and makes us more
productive in school, home, and outdoors.
In the end, we should remember that a balanced diet and physical
lifestyle is a reflection of a holistic and healthy well-being. So let us
make a healthy diet a lifestyle for life.
