The document provides guidance on replacing adapters in Rockwell Automation's CENTERLINE 2100 Low Voltage Motor Control Centers. It describes how to remove and replace both Ethernet adapters and 24V DC adapters located in the vertical wireway.

To remove an Ethernet adapter, you first disconnect any Ethernet cables connected to it, then remove the two mounting screws using a T30 Torx driver with an extension. You can then gently pull the adapter away to access the Ethernet connections behind it and disconnect the cables before removing the adapter.

To remove a 24V DC adapter, you first loosen the four retaining screws of the front plugs and remove the plugs, then remove the two mounting screws using a T30 Torx driver with an extension. You can then gently pull the adapter away to access the 24V DC connections behind it.

Before You Begin

This publication provides guidance for vertical wireway adapter replacement in CENTERLINE 2100 Low Voltage Motor Control Centers
(MCC). All IntelliCENTER EtherNet/IP orders that are placed after May 23, 2016 that use vertical wireway Ethernet network and 24V DC
power adapter connections have adapters that can be removed and replaced in the field.

Ethernet Adapters
Vertical wireway Ethernet adapters can be in any of the four positions shown.

To remove an adapter, follow these instructions and best practices.

1. Unplug any Ethernet cables that are connected to the adapter on the customer-facing side of the vertical wireway.
2. To remove the two screws that hold the adapter in place against the back of the vertical wireway, use a T30 Torx Driver with an extension.
The extension is likely necessary to remove the left screw because it is very close to the edge.

Adapter Replacement

IMPORTANT Ethernet cables have labels that can help determine which adapter port they originally plugged into. Keep the cable/port relationship intact to help retain
switch port-to-device mapping. It can be difficult to read the cable labels behind the vertical wireway.

IMPORTANT Ethernet cable lengths are automatically calculated to minimize excess cabling in the MCC. In some cases, excess cable length is not always available
behind the vertical wireway to pull out the adapter. It can be necessary to remove the unit next to the adapter to have more space to disconnect the cables
on the back side.

5. Install the new Ethernet adapter and connect the Ethernet cables into the back of the adapter.
6. Fasten the new adapter to the vertical wireway with the screws you removed in step 2.

TIP It is best practice to transfer the existing Ethernet adapter label over to the new adapter (for example, E-F). This label is used in the cable label string to help
affirm where cables are being connected.

24V DC Adapters
Vertical wireway 24V DC power adapters are in the two positions shown.

difficult to pull out the adapter. You can remove the unit next to the adapter to have more space to disconnect the cables on the back side.

6. Install the new 24V DC power adapter and connect the wires into the back of the adapter.
7. Secure the wires with two retention screws.
8. Align the adapter in place and fasten the new adapter to the vertical wireway with the screws you removed in step 2.
