SYNOPSIS
VARIABLE FREQUENCY DRIVE (VFD)

A variable frequency drive (VFD) is an electronic system that provides infinitely variable speed control of three-phase
AC induction motors. Controlling the flow of air and water in HVAC systems is an effective, permanent way to meet
the ever-changing demands put on the system. VFDs are being used with centrifugal compressors and screw
compressors, the two major compressor categories for large chillers.

VRF can easily be related to as the Rolls Royce of Air Conditioning Systems. Its a very sophisticated technological air
conditioning system. VRF technology achieves extremely high efficiencies by varying the flow of refrigerant to the
indoor units based on the exact demands of the individual areas.

Mr. Roger Zou Jian Ping

Professional Qualifications BEng : Bachelor Engineering
Professional Designations HVACEng
Received his bachelors degrees in refrigerant engineering in 2004 at Guangdong Ocean University. Roger Zou has
been the large tonnage chiller product manager of Midea CAC. He has more than twelve years experience with
Chiller R&D, technical and application. Roger focus on the larger tonnage chiller product planning, product strategy,
marketing promotion, key markets/customer development, market survey and technician professional ability
promotion.
Prior to joining Midea, Roger was the Senior Engineer and Project Manager in York China. Roger joined York in 2004
as an engineer, senior engineer, project manager, with responsibility for new global chiller product development,
global project management and technical support.
After York, Roger joined Emerson China on 2012 as Senior Engineer and Project Manager, with responsibility for new
chiller product development for IDC, project management and chillers value chain platform startup.
He had published a paper (Testing and analysis of fan motor coil temperature rise ) on the subject in distinguished
publications, have been awarded by ASHRAE QATAR CHARPTER in 2016 for the presentation on VFD Centrifugal
technology.

Mr. Peck Zhao Fa Yi
Professional Qualifications BEng : Bachelor Engineering
Mr. Peck Zhao graduated in 2005 from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and holds a bachelor
engineering. Mr.Peck Zhao has more than 11 years of full time working experience in the Air-conditioning industry
with 6 years as technical engineer and 5 years of marketing experience. Mr.Peck Zhai is very familiar with the global
HVAC market. He have been awarded by MACRA (Malaysia Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Association) in 2009,
ASHRAE QATAR CHARPTER in 2016 and NIGERIA CHARPTER in 2017 for the presentation on VFD technology and VRF
applications.
