1.0 INTRODUCTION
General
Structured Engineers Apprenticeship Programme (SEAP) was established in Tanzania
by Engineers Registration Board (ERB) with the views of helping Graduate Engineers to
become Professional Engineers.
This programme provides the opportunity to the graduate engineers to be trained within
three years with some relevant ERBs SEAP requirements and guidelines. Once a
graduate Engineer has met the terms and conditions will be accredited to Professional
Engineer by Engineers Registration Board (ERB).
This programme enables the graduate engineers to enter into job market with greater
confidence after completing the three years of training.
Also this programme needs the graduate engineers to prepare a quarterly reports to be
submitted to Engineers Registration Board (Tanzania) already signed and commented on
by the supervisor. The quarterly report was prepared to give an overview on the work
done in the three (3) months. This report covers the training undertaken at ADVANCED
ENGINEERING SOLUTION for the duration of three months from August, 2017 to
November, 2017 in the areas of Structural Design and Structural detailing of Reinforced
Concrete (RC) parts as listed below
Reinforced concrete slab
Reinforced concrete beams
Reinforced concrete columns
Pad foundation and strip footings
Report Layout
This report consists of six sections as stipulated in ERB Practical guideline.
Section One: Introduction of the report.
Section Two: Details of the Training Agreement
Section Three: Training scheme
Section Four: Record of Technical and Professional Experience
Section Five: Details of the Projects
Section Six: Conclusion

5.0 DETAILS OF THE PROJECTS
5.1 INTRODUCTION
This Chapter describe briefly the projects stated in the previous chapter, the project
discussed in this chapter include, Design of Reinforced Concrete structure and
preparation of Expression of Interest.
5.1.1 PROJECT - 01
Traffic count performed at KILOMBERO BRIDGE
5.1.1.1 Objectives
This project was given to me and to be performed hence to know the traffic load crossing
the bridge in order to be capable to design pavement layers and strength of the materials.
The tasks were to carry out traffic count activity and after that analysing the data found
from traffic count data and writing a report.
5.1.1.2 Technical Descriptions
The traffic count data performed at Kilombero Bridge was aimed to provide the traffic
class load of the road so that to be assured with the traffic load class predicted during the
design. During traffic count data were collected where by data were entered on the sheet
showing all vehicle type classification.
The task involved the collection of data for seven days here by 3 days were done for
24hours and other four days were done for twelve hours.
After data collection those data were to be analysed by the guide of pavement manual
and geometric design manual so as to obtain the traffic load class.
After data analysis then report was written was done by following all the good skills on
writing the official report.
5.1.2 PROJECT 02
DESIGN OF UPGRADING OF NMB KONGWA TO MLANGA ROAD TO
SURFACE DESSING LEVEL
5.1.2.1 Objectives
This project was given to me that I can prepare all the engineering drawings for the
project as structural engineer. Also as structural engineer I prepared all the detailing for
road structures and preparation of its bar bending schedule.
5.1.2.2 Technical Descriptions
The drawings were well prepared by the use of AutoCAD software.
5.1.23 My roles and participation.
In this project my roles and participation included;
Preparing Structural drawings.
Producing detailed structural drawings by using Auto CAD 2017.
5.1.2.4 Technical knowledge and experience achieved
Through involvement as Assistant Structural Engineer, I was able to achieve the
following professional experiences;
To know the quality required for structural drawings
Management of General office routines/administration.
5.1.3 PROJECT - 03
This project was given to me and to be performed hence to know the traffic load crossing
the bridge in order to be capable to design pavement layers and strength of the materials.
The tasks were to carry out traffic count activity and after that analysing the data found
from traffic count data and writing a report.
5.1.3.2 Technical Descriptions
The traffic count was performed at MTWARAPACHANI TO TUNDURU ROAD and
was aimed to provide the traffic class load of the road so that to be assured with the traffic
load class hence to consider it during design. During traffic count data were collected
where by data were entered on the sheet showing all vehicle type classification on the
three different stations.
Also original destination survey were performed at two different stations so that to get
number of vehicles which can divert to the new designed road.
5.1.3.3 My roles and participation
In this project my roles and participation included;
Performing traffic count(data collection)
Analyzing the data found from traffic count
Designing the Traffic Load Class depending on the results found from data
collected and analyzed.
Writing a good report on Traffic count at Kilombero Bridge.
Providing any required technical advice on Traffic load at Kilombero Bridge.
Performing ORIGINAL and DESTINATION survey
Analysis of OD data and report writing

6.0 CONCLUSION
+During these three (3) months of the training, I was able to acquire the skills and
knowledge on:
Load estimation
Load analysis
Structural design
Structural engineering drawings preparation
Structural engineering detailing preparation
Traffic count and Original and Destination survey performance.
More knowledge on application of AutoCAD
Project report preparation
Reinforcements detailing of structural members by using AutoCAD
Preparation of Expression of Interest (EoI)
Generally the training gave me the opportunity of transferring theoretical knowledge
gained at college into real life practices in designing industry. Also it exposed to various
structural design challenges which needs creativity and cooperation which brings us to
work as team on solving the encountered problems.
