river portion of the adventure, dinner will be served followed by an overnight in
Santa Maria.

Inca Jungle  Day 02: Santa Teresa - Llactapata - Hidroeléctrica - Aguas Calientes
HIKING
After breakfast we will drive to Lucmabamba to begin our hike through the Inca
Trail (Qapaqñan). We will be traveling on a much less populated route which was
only rediscovered in 2003. Along the Inca Trail we will visit the archaeological
remains of Llactapata, and enjoy the stunning landscape views of the majestic
citadel of Machu Picchu, and the main sacred mountains of the Incas -
Huaynapicchu, Putucusi and the snowcapped Salcantay.

After a box lunch as we rest along the trail, we will begin our descent towards the
hydroelectric station where we will take the train bound for the town of Aguas
Calientes - our overnight destination.

Inca Jungle  Day 03: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Early Wake-up, and after breakfast with we will catch the first bus to the citadel of
Machu Picchu. An early visit to Machupicchu helps us to avoid the big crowds of
tourists coming with the train from Cusco. We will have the chance to visit the
different areas of this Inca city, including the astronomical observatories, military
complex and urban areas. For many, a Machupicchu highlight is an optional climb to
the mountain of Huaynapicchu (the mountain that overlooks Machupicchu), and we
have time to do this during our tour of this famous city. Finally, we return by train
to the town of Ollantaytambo, and then take a bus to return to Cusco.
