ILOG PASIG

Minsan sa ilog Pasig ako'y naligo

Malinaw ang tubig mga isda lumulukso

Ako'y lumangoy at sumisid sa pailalim

Mga malalaking hipon bumulaga sa paningin

Nang sandaling umahon ako'y nabigla

Ang lahat ng iyon ay panaginip lang pala

Sapagkat ang ilog Pasig ay matagal ng patay

Sinakal ng basura at kemikal kagandahan ay nawalay

Paano ninyo nagawa ang lahat ng ito?

Karapatan ko sa malinis na ilog ay sinira ninyo!

Lahat tayo'y mag tulungan at gawin ang nararapat

Linisin natin ang mga ilog bago mahuli ang lahat.


REMOTIVATION THERAPY

BRIEF DESCRITPION

Remotivation therapy is a small group therapeutic modality objective in nature, designed

to help clients by promoting self-esteem, awareness and socialization. This therapy is conducted

within 45 minutes to one hour per meeting. In general, it intends to bring clients back to reality. It

involves a group of clients consisting of 10 to 12 members.

OBJECTIVES OF REMOTIVATION TECHNIQUES

 To stimulate the client into exploring things associated with the real world.

 To let the client experience feeling of acceptance and recognition.

 To renew the client’s interest to discuss about something not directly focused to himself.

 To promote group harmony.

 To develop ability to communicate and share ideas and experience with others.

STEPS OF REMOTIVATION TECHNIQUES

Step 1: Climate of Acceptance (5 mins)

Purpose: To provide a nonthreatening atmosphere in which the leader and participants can

establish relationships and feel relaxed.

 Clients are greeted warmly and individually

 New members or guests are introduced

 Purpose of the activity is stated


Step 2: Bridge to reality (15 minutes)

Purpose: To create a bridge to reality by presenting poetry or song to the group that would apply

to the theme of session topic. This step should help stimulate the patient to think of realistic topics

that they want to share with the group.

 People sit in a semicircle

 Introduction of the topic (e.g., leader asks short and simple questions about the clients

observations of their surrounding)

 Articles are used as basis for discussion or sharing of observations.

 Leader ensures that each client has participated or has been given the chance to

participate.

Step 3: Sharing the world we live in (15 minutes)

Purpose: This step should further develop the topic of remotivation session. Group discussion

should be stimulated through the use of visual/audio aids and other physical props. Stimulation

of the clients’ senses should be promoted during this step by having them see, hear, touch, or

taste something objective in the world.

 Time for the discussion of the topic which has been introduced previously.

 Leader helps the clients focused on the topic and stimulates them to participate through

the use of props (e.g., pictures, illustrations) and by asking planned, simple clear

questions.

 Leader encourages each client to participate.

Step 4: An appreciated of the work of the world (15 minutes)

Purpose: This step in remotivation encourages the client to think about work in the world as it

relates to the topic of the discussion. Work in the world discussions also attempts to promote
individual discussion about their past job experiences. Practical application of a job-related task

may be encouraged for each individual.

 Provides a link between the work of the world and the clients.

 Leader directs the clients in identifying the work or jobs relevant to the topic discussed.

 Leader encourage each client to share his job preferences and previous job experiences

related to the topic discussed.

Step 5: Climate of Appreciation (5 minutes)

Purpose: This step in remotivation encourages the client to think about work in the worlds as it

relates to the topic of discussion. Work in the world discussion also attempts to promote individual

discussions about their past job experiences. Practical application of a job- related task may be

encouraged for each individual.

 Time in summarizing the topic discussed.

 Leader expresses appreciation to the clients attendance and for their participation and the

leader’s enjoyment of the activity.

 Leader encourages the group to plan for the next sessions by asking them about the topic

they wish to be talked about.

 Leader informs the group regarding the schedule of the next session.

How to Conduct Remotivation Techniques

1. Prepare all the materials needed.

2. Let the clients meet their basic needs (e.g., using the bathroom, quenching thirst) before

starting the activity.

3. Arrange the clients in a semi-circle. Make sure that they are seated comfortably.

4. Greet the clients warmly. Introduce new members of the group or let each client introduce

himself by mentioning full name, age, civil status, address etc.


5. Orient the clients to time and place (e.g., ask the clients about the date, day, time, place)

and the activity.

6. Establish the rules which should be followed during the activity. Elicit it from the clients.

7. State the purpose of the activity.

8. Introduce the topic by the use of articles and asking questions about it.

9. Discuss with the clients the topic which has been introduced. Ensure that clients are

focused with the topic and participates actively by using props and by asking planned,

simple, clear questions.

10. Direct the clients in identifying the work or jobs related to the topics discussed. Encourage

each client to share his job preferences and previous job experiences related to the topic

discussed.

11. Let one or two client/s to summarize the topic discussed.

12. Express appreciation to the clients for their attendance and participation to the activity.

Tell clients that he enjoyed the activity with them.

13. Encourage the clients to plan for the next session by asking them about the topic they

wish to talk about.

14. Inform the clients regarding the schedule of the next session.
