A memorable trip to Penang

Our school choral speaking team better known as Silver Speakers went for a day
trip to Penang Island on 28th July 2017. A total of 40 students and four teachers
joined the educational trip specially organized for the Silver Speakers as an
appreciation for their commitment and dedication throughout the year. As early
as 6.15 in the morning, we start off the blissful journey armed with our foods,
first-aid kit and few boxes of beverages. The journey to Penang Island took around
two hours and we had a fantastic time travelling with our teammates and friends.

University Science of Malaysia (USM) was the first destination of the day. We are guided by
the staff and we did a library tour before one of the professor briefs us about the history,
importance and functions of the library to their students. We enjoyed reading the books and
watching horror movie. We took some photographs as remembrance. We took our brunch in the
campus café. The food is not only cheap but very delicious. We enjoyed
scrumptious food.

After spending around 2 hours gaining important knowledge and feel

the varsity life, we went to a tiring and challenging Penang War Museum. It is
the largest museum in South East Asia. Two experience tour guides shared
historical information with us. There are many historical events happened in
early 1900’s and we are to glad to see more closely rather than just reading
the history books. It was indeed an enjoyable and unforgettable place to visit.

We spend 3 hours in the war museum. Then, we went to Padang Kota

to try the famous mouth-watering Penang Pasembor. The teachers were so
generous to pay for the food. Thank you teachers!

Around 4.30 pm, we went to 3D Art Museum. It is an interactive museum located at King
Street, Georgetown. This museum starts operating since 25th October 2014. The museum occupies
two levels of a long shop house that stretches from King Street to Penang Street. We were
enthusiastic to snap photos in every angle inside the museum. It’s such a worth sightseeing.

After spending around 2 hours, we went to Penang Jetty. It was an awesome experience to
travel by ferry from Georgetown to Butterworth. The journey was exciting as we can feel the fresh
air with beautiful sceneries. Finally, we travel back to our school after an exciting trip. Before we
reach SMK Jati, we stopped at R&R Gunung Semanggol for our dinner in KFC sponsored again by our
beloved teachers. I feel that the best education I ever received was through participating in
educational trips.
