ABSTRACTs

Organizations find it increasingly difficult to stay competitive in

today's global economy. Leaders in the workplace are using
benchmarking, competency, competency models, and competency
studies to help make human resource decisions, such as hiring,
training, and promotions. In training and development (T&D), it
is helpful for competencies to focus on knowledge, skills and/or
abilities. But neither the field of T&D, nor competency within
the field, is static. Reported here is a careful review of literature
showing the trends in competency over the past three decades
in the training and development field, and provides some
speculation regarding competencies needed in the near future for
professionals in T&D. Two of the most apparent changes in
T&D are the shift to performance improvement and the use of
technology. Thus the skills, knowledge, and abilities involving
these areas will continue to become increasingly necessary for
T&D professionals.

Training & Development is an important

factor for the improvement of employee. So Training at the
lower and middle level and Development at upper level. For
every organization Training is necessary so finally the
effectiveness of organization can increases and profitability can
also enhance.

Reliance world is undertaken by Reliance

webstore and mainly govern by Anil Dhirubhai Ambani group.
Reliance development new product according to demand and
purchasing power of consumer in mobiles such as blackberry,
classics, data card , BIGtv etc. also provide services like
Videoconferencing, broadband services to their customer .
Though the company has got tremendous success in other
countries but tastes, preferences and living conditions are
different from that of foreign countries. In this case marketing
plays a major role as the aim should be to know and
understand the customer so well that the product or service fits
him and sells itself.

Marketing starts with identifying customers needs

and wants and ends with satisfying them through a coordinated
set of activities that also allows a firm to achieve its own
goals. Awareness of this fact gives rise to the marketing
concept It aims at matching the company’s offering with
customer needs to achieve the desired level of customer
satisfaction and generate profits for the company.

The project also covers which are the other

players and competitors of Reliance World in the market and
what product they are offering to the customer . The data can be
collected by visiting various companies in the market and
collecting information from internet and other sources. All those
who cater the same need and want in different ways are the
competitors . An organization can easily identify its competitors
because the competition is dependent upon the products and
services it offer.

Most important chapter in the project that after

studying customer needs, company’s offering and competitors,
proper analysis is done so that companies’ parameters match
consumer aspirations. As there were some specific customer
demands, therefore findings and recommendations are given after
proper analysis and interpretation of data collected from various
sources.

Reliance have punch line “KAR LOO DUNIYA

MUTHI ME” means reliance company want to capture the
market and to provide services to all the people. By this way
reliance undertaken maximum field in India as well as across the
India.

BROADBAND MANAGEMENT

A high-capacity two-way link between an end user and access

network suppliers capable of supporting full-motion, interactive video
applications

Based on today’s technology and applications, a minimum two-way,

or symmetrical transmission speed of 1.5 Mbps per individual user is
required

Broadband is a technology that essentially enables high-speed Internet

access. It is a far faster way of connecting to the Internet than the
conventional dial-up method. However, not all broadband connections
are the same. It all boils down to those important questions. Is the
connection really fast enough? How fast are my downloads? Can I
really enjoy the Internet in its full glory?

When you log in at Reliance World, you are connected to the Internet
through Reliance’s next generation, high-speed, countrywide fibre
optic network. That’s why you will notice the difference as soon as
you log in.

Broadband management equips businesses with the speed, security

and flexibility to efficiently operate their high-speed Internet
access. The management focuses on seamless integration and
operation of technical systems across various networks. Web hosting
and email services can be included with broadband. Broadband
management training provides technology managers the ability to
educate their staff on how to handle and respond to broadband issues
within networks and on standalone systems.

ii) VIDEO CONFERENCING:

What is Video Conferencing?

Video conferencing is a live, interactive, full-motion, audio-visual
communication between distant parties connected to each other by
a communication network equipped with video endpoints.
Generally, Video Conferences are set up in two different modes:
Point-to-point Video Conference: A Video Conference between
two video sites.

Multiparty Video Conference: A Video Conference between three

or more video sites. A video bridge is required to connect more
than two video sites in a single conference.
Business is no more conducted at one office and during office
hours required before and it is not possible to find all of them
at one place and in one company.

Collaboration is the mantra most large enterprises have

adopted and they are finding it increasingly useful. The
challenge is to induct the right combination of collaboration
tools that can effectively help knowledge executives to
exchange ideas and communicate in real time as effectively
as a face-to-face meeting.

Reliance next generation Video Conferencing provides

enterprises an edge to collaborate amongst their employees,
business partners, suppliers, distributors, customers and
other teams across geographies and time zones.

Reliance Communications has redefined video conference

service in this country taking it from a conventional ISDN to
higher bandwidth IP Video Call service with options to choose
from 384 Kbps onwards to 2 Mbps or higher bandwidth. Our
242 IP Video Studios across 105 towns now help enterprises
to extend the power of video collaboration to their smaller
offices across the country. They can also now use this
medium to collaborate with their dealers, distributors or even
for interviewing candidates from the comfort of their office.

. Globalization requires all enterprises doing business

internationally and domestically across geographies, to
collaborate. A given job needs more skill sets than

developments in field.

The Chennai Reliance World team was felicitated with a

medal for their excellent coordination and superior execution of
the Video Conference which was transmitted live from the Taj
Coromandel, Chennai.
iii) DATA CARD:

Time to Switch on Reliance Data Cards

Dream of bringing a globe in single room, comes true just

because of Internet. Internet is having the potential to convert
the whole world in a small village where communication with
any one is so easy. We can communicate in a fraction of
second with a person who is sitting in the other part of the
world. Students and children are among the top users who surf
the Internet for research. The internet is a collection of various
services and resources. There is lot more in store of internet

than e-mail, chat rooms, celebrity web sites and search engines.
It also became the best business tool of modern scenario. From
news across the corner of the world, wealth of knowledge to
shopping, purchasing the tickets of your favorite movie-
everything is at your finger tips.

Information is doubtless the prime benefit internet is

offering. Any kind of information on any topic is available on
the Internet. There is a vast amount of information available on
the internet for just about every subject known to man, ranging
from government law and services to a post of a peon in an
office. Everything you will find on internet.

After knowing and discussing such advantages of internet,

one can easily conclude that internet is not an accessory to
your laptop, it is the need. Internet makes your laptop starts
breathing. There are various modes of internet connection.
Today, cyber cafes are generally less in number because of
cheap and affordable internet services, you can just sit on your
bed and access the internet. Now no more compromise with
business, work, if you are planning for holidays in Goa or some
other far away places. Now you can carry your internet
connection in your laptop bag very conveniently. Dialing for
internet connection, founding lines busy was a time that gone
away. It’s the time of technology infact advanced technology.
Internet’s advanced technology means data cards, USB modems,
PCMCIA cards etc.

Data cards are one of the advanced technology modes of

internet. These are easy to carry and easy to access also.
Internet and Intranet both move at the broadband speed. Internet
Market is full of vendors. Reliance Data cards, Vodafone, Tata
Indicom, Airtel Data cards all are dealing with the same mode.
This whole rush gives one benefit i.e. declining

rates of these services day by day. For example, Reliance

Communications is offering lowest prices of all. Infact they are
contributing in making the WiMAX also cheap and easily
affordable. Reliance Data cards gives fastest wireless Internet
connection.

Everytime with Reliance Communication is the worth

time to connect with an internet connection; you need not to
wait for the timings when you will get a cheaper one. Fastest
internet connection with cost saving prices is what the service
of Reliance is. That’s why Reliance is getting such type of
reviews by its users- “There are now many different data cards
from different Internet providers, and from research it has been
found that the Reliance Data Card is the best out of any data
cards which you get in the market. The Reliance Data Card
gives you a good connection and most importantly a reliable
connection. The connection is not too bad and in fact as long as
you have a good reception or range area then you can get a
quite fast connection. When purchasing the data card it is money
well worth spent.”

Reliance Data cards allows you to connect to the

Internet on the go, which means no matter where you may be
in a country you can have 24 hours access to the Internet,
without any problems. Getting connect with the family living
outside home or outside country is no more difficult with
Reliance because Reliance Communications believes in bringing
family together with their quality services to their users.
iv) CDMA:

Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA). Cellular carriers

including Sprint PCS, Cingular Wireless, Verizon and T-Mobile
use one or the other.

CDMA, a proprietary standard designed by Qualcomm in

the United States, has been the dominant network standard for
North America and parts of Asia.

There are camps on both sides that firmly believe either

GSM or CDMA architecture is superior to the other. That said,
to the non-invested consumer who simply wants bottom line
information to make a choice, the following considerations may
be helpful.

Coverage: The most important factor is getting service in the

areas you will be using your phone. Upon viewing competitors'
coverage maps you may discover that only GSM or CDMA
carriers offer cellular service in your area. If so, there is no
decision to be made, but most people will find that they do
have a choice.

Data Transfer Speed: With the advent of cellular phones doing

double and triple duty as streaming video devices, podcast
receivers and email devices, speed is important to those who use
the phone for more than making calls. CDMA has been
traditionally faster than GSM, though both technologies continue
to rapidly leapfrog along this path. Both boast "3G" standards,
or 3rd generation technologies.

EVDO, also known as CDMA2000, is CDMA's answer

to the need for speed with a downstream rate of about 2
megabits per second, though some reports suggest real world
speeds are closer to 300-700 kilobits per second (kbps). This
is comparable to basic DSL. As of fall 2005, EVDO is in the
process of being deployed. It is not available everywhere and
requires a phone that is CDMA2000 ready.

The CDMA equivalent, a R-UIM card, is only available

in parts of Asia but remains on the horizon for the U.S.
market. CDMA carriers in the U. S. require proprietary handsets
that are linked to one carrier only and are not card-enabled. To
upgrade a CDMA phone, the carrier must deactivate the old
phone then activate the new one. The old phone becomes
useless.

According CDG. Org, CDMA networks support over 270

million subscribers worldwide, while GSM. org tallies up their
score at over 1 billion. As CDMA phones become R-UIM
enabled and roaming contracts between networks improve,
integration of the standards might eventually make differences all
but transparent to the consumer.

Code division multiple access (CDMA) is a form of

multiplexing and a method of multiple access to a physical
medium such as a radio channel, where different users use
the medium at the same time thanks to using different code
sequences.

A number of terms are used to refer to CDMA

implementations. The original U S standard defined by
QUALCOMM was known as IS-95, where IS refers to an
Interim Standard of the U S Telecommunications Industry
Association. IS-95 is often referred to as the second generation
(2G) cellular, or as cdmaOne (the QUALCOMM brand name).
CDMA has been submitted for approval as a mobile air interface
standard to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
V) GSM:

In cellular service there are main competing network

technologies: Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM).

The GSM Association is an international organization

founded in 1987, dedicated to providing, developing, and
overseeing the worldwide wireless standard of GSM. GSM
networks continue to make inroads in the United States.

That said, to the non-invested consumer who simply wants

bottom line information to make a choice, the following
considerations may be helpful.

Coverage: The most important factor is getting service in the

areas you will be using your phone. Upon viewing competitors'
coverage maps you may discover that only GSM or CDMA
carriers offer cellular service in your area. If so, there is no
decision to be made, but most people will find that they do
have a choice.

Data Transfer Speed: With the advent of cellular phones doing

double and triple duty as streaming video devices, podcast
receivers and email devices, speed is important to those who
use the phone for more than making calls.

GSM's answer is EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM

Evolution), which boasts data rates of up to 384 kbps with real
world speeds reported closer to 70-140 kbps. With added
technologies still in the works that include UMTS (Universal
Mobile Telephone Standard) and HSDPA (High Speed Downlink
Packet Access), speeds reportedly increase to about

275—380 kbps. This technology is also known as W-CDMA,

but is incompatible with CDMA networks. An EDGE-ready
phone is required.
In the case of EVDO, theoretical high traffic can degrade
speed and performance, while the EDGE network is more
susceptible to interference. Both require being within close range
of a cell to get the best speeds, while performance decreases
with distance.

Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards: In the United States

only GSM phones use SIM cards. The removable SIM card
allows phones to be instantly activated, interchanged, swapped
out and upgraded, all without carrier intervention. The SIM
itself is tied to the network, rather than the actual phone. Phones
that are card-enabled can be used with any GSM carrier.

Roaming: For the most part, both networks have fairly

concentrated coverage in major cities and along major highways.
GSM carriers, however, have roaming contracts with other GSM
carriers, allowing wider coverage of more rural areas, generally
speaking, often without roaming charges to the customer. CDMA
networks may not cover rural areas as well as GSM carriers,
and though they may contract with GSM cells for roaming in
more rural areas, the charge to the customer will generally be
significantly higher.

International Roaming: If you need to make calls to other

countries, a GSM carrier can offer international roaming, as
GSM networks dominate the world market. If you travel to other
countries you can even use your GSM cell phone abroad,
providing it is a quad-band phone (850/900/1800/1900 MHz). By
purchasing a SIM card with minutes and a local

number in the country you are visiting, you can make calls
against the card to save yourself international roaming charges
from your carrier back home. CDMA phones that are not card-
enabled do not have this capability, however there are several
countries that use CDMA networks. Check with your CDMA
provider for your specific requirements.
The chief GSM carriers in the United States are Cingular
Wireless, recently merged with AT&T Wireless, and T-Mobile
USA. Major CDMA carriers are Sprint PCS, Verizon and Virgin
Mobile. There are also several smaller cellular companies on
both networks.

Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) standard

is a specification of an entire network infrastructure.

VI. DENG(Digital Electronic News Gathering Services)

Using optic fiber broadband connectivity, Reliance World offers
DENG (Digital Electronic News Gathering Service) to television
channels. The service can also be utilized by advertising agencies, ad
film producers and feature film houses.

DENG has radically changed TV news gathering in India.

How DENG Works

DENG enables transmission of video footage from Reliance World.
The DENG facility at Reliance World has all necessary equipment
installed, including state-of-the-art encoders & decoders. The footage
can be directly picked up from the camera (Betacam, Digi Beta, and
Digital) or any kind of media and transmitted to the destination.

Signals travel on Reliance Communications’ terabit OFC (Optical

Fibre Cable) network. The transmission speed varies between 4 mbps
and 4.3 mbps. This enables the footage to be transmitted in real time.
DENG can function in two modes:

1. Reliance World to Studio: In this mode, Reliance connects up

the studio(s) to the closest Reliance MCN (Media Convergence
Node) with optic fibre and installs decoding equipment at the
studio premises. Reporters can send in their footages from any
Reliance World that has DENG facility directly to the channel’s
studios.
2. Reliance World to Reliance World: In this mode, the studio
can record the feed at the Reliance World closest to the studio as
reporters send in their footages from the Reliance World closest
to their location. Recording the feed is facilitated by decoders
installed at Reliance World.

Besides these two modes, live transmission is also possible from

select Reliance World outlets with video conferencing facility. The
Video Conferencing Room doubles up as a makeshift studio.

The transfer is managed by a Central Connectivity Hub, ensuring

100% network availability and success rate.

A Boon for TV Channels

Television channels find DENG to be extremely convenient and cost-

efficient since they do not have to rush their highly expensive OB
vans to each and every location. With this service available in 86
cities, it is no wonder that almost all news channels and news
gathering agencies in India utilise the DENG service.

Traditionally, news channels used to send footage through leased

lines, OB vans/SNGs, FTP via the Internet or the last resort – courier!
Now, thanks to DENG all that seems prehistoric.
