1st Flak Division: Formed on 9/1/41 from the Air Defense Command
Berlin. On 11/1/43 it consisted of:
On 8/25/44 the staff of the 172st Flak Regiment became the staff fo
the 6th Flak brigade in Stetten and was not replaced. During the
collapse of the German forces in France a large portion of the staffs
and several battalions were "bmot" (Behelfsmässig tmotorisiert motoriz
- temporarily motorized) and sent to the western front. Most of the
batteries remained and some new units were assigned. On 12/1/44 the
1st Flak Division had:

2nd Flak Division: Formed on 9/1/41 as the command for the flak
defense of central Germany. It was sent into Russia with the invai-
son of Russa and served with Army Group North, Luftflotte 1. Until
September 1944 it served near Leningrad. In Spetmeber 1944 part of
the division went to the West and became part of the III Flak Corps.
It fought for the defense of Cologne and in the Eifel with the 6th SS

regio and Ploesti. At the beginning of 1942 it was sent to southern

17th Flak Divisions: Formed on 3/1/42 in Russia by the I Flak Corps,
Luftflotte 4. In April/May 1942 it was around Salino. In 1943/44 it
covered the withdrawal from the Ukraine as part of the I Flak Corps.

In May 1942 the 21st, 34th, and 101st Flak Regiments were detached to
the 12th (mot) Flak Division, which operated with the 2nd & 4th Corps.
It served with the 3rd Pz. Army Corps and the 9th Corps. In
July/August 1942 the 15th and 125th Flak Regiments fought aroudn
Rshev. In August/September 1942 it was with the 9th Coprs by Rshev,
with the 10th Flak Regiment operating with the 105th Panzers. In
March 1943 it fought around Smolensk, Rhsev and Wjasma. The 6th,
10th and 125th Flak Regiments were pulled back. The 133rd Flak Regi-
ment was sent to the 12th Flak Division. After Kursk the division was
reorganized.
In June/August 1943 the 35th Flak Regiment was returned from the 12th
Flak Division. The 6th and 35th Flak Regiments continued fighting
around Smolensk. On 11/3/43 the division was assigned to the newly
organized II Flak Corps. The 6th Flak Regiment was assigned to the
10th Flak Brigade. In February 1944 the Staff/10th Flak Brigade was
assigned to the 12th Flak Division. The 6th, 10th, 34th, 35th Flak
Regiments remained with the 2nd Division during the winter battle

around Vitebsk. On 10/1/44 the division contained the 6th, 34th and
125th Flak Regiments.
19th Flak Division: Formed in June/July 1942 with part of the VII Flak
Brigade, which was serving in Siciliy. It served in northern Africa
and Tunisia during the end of the African campaign under Rommel, late
1942, early 1943. It was assigned to Luftflotte 2. It was captured in
Tunis in May 1943. Its organization is now known.
The 19th Flak Division was reformed on 11/1/43 and was assigned to the
defense of Greece. In 1944 it was part of the V Flak Corps in Yugos-
lavia. It contained:
The 20th Flak Division was reformed in the summer of 1943 by Luft-
flotte 4 and served in the defense of Greece, Albania and Croatia.

back. The 169th Flak Regiment in Saarbrücken and the Regiment z.b.V.
in Lorraine were transferred to the Western Air Defense Command (9th
Division, IV Flak Corps) about the same time. The 179th Flak Regiment
(Würzburg Flak Group) was transferred to the 21st Flak Division from

staff of the 4th Dresden Flak brigade
25th Flak Division: Formed at the end of 1943 from the staff of the
17th Flak Brigade, it served for the defense of northern Italy and the
Milan region.
26th Flak Division: Formed on 5/1/44 from the 4th Flak Brigade in
Munich. After the disbanding of the 21st Flak Brigade in Nürnburg, the
division was heavily reinforced. The 130th Flak Regiment, Innsbruck,
was transferred to the V Luftgau and replaced by the Staff/148th
Flak Regiment. During the summer the 2nd Searchlight Regiment (Au-
gsburg) became the 115th Flak Regiment. On 12/1/44 the division had:
27th Flak Division: Formed in September 1944 in East Prussia from the
Staff/11th Flak brigade and the units of that brigade, plus part of
those from the 15th Flak Brigade. It was assigned to Luftflotte 6. In
February 1944 it was in southeast PRussia. The division detached its
assigned units to the 18th Flak Division in February 1945 and then
moved to assum command of new troops with the 11th Corps on the front
as part of Luftflotte 6. In September/october 1944 it was assigned
the 10th Flak Brigade.

28th Flak Division: Formed in October 1944 in Stuttgart from the 9th
Flak Brigade. On 12/1/44 it contained:
29th Flak Division: formed in early 1945 from the staff of the 14th
Flak Brigade and the units of the 13th and 14th Flak brigades then in
Norway. It had four flak regiments.
30th Flak Division: Formed in early 1945 with the staff and units of
the 5th Flak Brigade (ETr), part of the Riech Luftflotte and was
assigned to the defense of Berlin. It oversaw all light and medium
ETr- Flak Units (50th and 159th Flak Regiments with about 79 batter-
ies) in the Reich.
1st Flak Brigade: Formed in April 1944 in central Germany and then
used as the flak command for greater Paris and western France as
part of Luftflotte 3. In September/October 1944 it was assigned to
the IV Flak Corps on the Eifel front.

2nd Flak Brigade: Formed in May 1944 in Dessau from part of the
Magdeburg Flak Group (52nd Regiment). On 12/1/44 it contained:

served in France and in October 1940 was returned to Germany for the
defense of Germany. In early 1942 it was used to form the 15th Flak

3rd Flak Brigade: Formed in January 1944 in upper Italy, nea rMilan
for air defense in Commander of the German Luftwaffe in Italy under
General of Flak Artillery South, Luftflotte 2. From June to Octobe

6th Flak Brigade: FOrmed in August 1944 from the Staff/172nd Flak
Regiment to serve around Stettin and Pölitz. At the end of March
1945 it was in the II Flak Corps, Luftflotte 6. At the end of the war

7th Flak Brigade: The 7th Flak Brigade was formed on 4/1/44 from
part of the 24th Flak Division. On 12/1/44 the brigade contained the

IX Flak Brigade: Formed in February 1941 for the defense of the rear
areas of Army Group Center, it fought in Russia. In March 1942 the
staff became the Staff/12th (mot) Flak Division.
The 9th Flak Brigade was then reformed in January 1945 from the
earlier Flak Brigzde z.b.V., with the 16th Flak division for service on
the front. In 1945 it served as a motorized brigade in Holland with
the 16th Flak Division.

XII and 12th Flak Brigade: Formed in June 1943 for the defense of
Western France (Luftflotte 3). In August 1944 it moved to alsace. In
Septemer 1944 it was in Pfalzburg under the IV Flak Corps. The staff
became the Staff/145th (mot) Flak Regiment in October 1944.
XIII and 13th Flak Brigade: Formed in northern NOrway around May
1942, it remained there until disbanded in December 1944. Most of the
troops were returned Germany and assigned to the 14th Flak Brigade.
XIV and 14th Flak Brigade: Formed on 6/1/42 for the defense of Oslo
and assigned to Luftlfotte 5. In March 1945 the staff formed the
Staff/39th Flak Division.

and reassigned to the 8th Brigade. On 3/1/44 the Brigade had:
In May 1944 the staff of the 15th Flak Brigade was sent to upper
Silesia to protect the Order Valley/Heydebreck Hydroelectric Works
and 15th Flak Brigade in Hanover was disbanded, with many of its units
being assigned to the 8th Flak Brigade.

The Brüz Special Regiment was assigned and reorganized as the 102nd
Flak Regiment. In December 1943 the over strength brigade was redes-
ignated the 24th Flak Division. The 102nd Flak Regiment had:
XVII and 17th Flak Brigade: Formed in 1943 by the General Command of
Flak ARtillery South in Italy for the defense of the rear battle area.
It then appears to have become the Staff/25th Flak Division. It was
reformed in 1943 under the Command General of the German Luftwaffe
in Hungary for the defense of Budapest, under Luftflotte 4 as part
of the V Flak Corps.
XVIII and 18th Flak Brigade: Formed in January 1943 to command the
mobile flak in France.. It was part of Luftflotte 3. In early 1944 it
was in Belgium and northern France and assigned to the defense of
the V-1 and V-2 launch sites. In Septmeber 1944 it was under the III
Flak Corps near Culenberg, then in the 16th Flak Division near sons-
beek, Holland. It foght in holland as a motorized flak brigade in the
VI Flak Corps. At wars end it was in Cuxhaven.
XIX and 19th Flak Brigade: Formed in early 1943 for the defense of
Amsterdam. On 1/1/44 it was placed under Luftflotte 3.

On 12/22/43 the Regiment z.b.V. Regensburg became the 71st Flak Regi-
ment. On 3/1/44 the brigade had:
XXII and 22nd Flak Brigade: Formed in late 1942/earlay 1943 from the
disbanded Staff/VII Flak Brigade. It operated in Sicily until the
allied landings, when it moved to the Straits of Messina. In January
1944 it was at Rome, then in June it moved to Maserata. Though it
moved again it always remained in Italy until the war's end.
